Doesn't seem like they are pulling in the huge names anymore but more the names that are coming up
Unless they are willing to put a big name comedian on a stage, it makes sense for them not to waste their time on booking super popular comedians. We all know its a clusterfuck trying to get into the tiny theater to see a big name, so in the end it creates more whining attendees then it does happy festival go'ers who got to see Conan O'Brien.
I've seen a lot of comedians at Bonnaroo I didn't know before that end up being favorites later on, and I like it when the Comedy tent isn't impossible to get into. Abandoning my schedule and ducking in there to see the last show of the day resulted in some of my favorite Bonnaroo memories.

Couldn't agree more, last year we decided last minute to check out a show where we knew none of the names. Bridget Everett might have been the funniest show I've ever seen in my life, she was on point and played to a festival crowd so damn well.

Totally agree. that women always has me dying. Was lucky enough to catch her with Amy at oddball fest She deserves all the praise and success she gets.
The combo of AC / Chair / Kick-off-the-shoes is worth at least one visit. Especially on a 95 degree Sunday around 3pmish
Unfortunately for the comedians, this is one of two things that makes Bonnaroo such a tough room. Not only do a lot of people show up just for the AC and the chair, but there can also be constant bass notes filling the room. Honestly to me the bass notes aren't that distracting, but they drive certain comedians crazy. I think it bugs them worse than the crowd, who generally are used to being at music festivals with constant low frequency background noise.
I was at Pete Davidson's set last year during Griz, and he kept getting so pissed off at the soundbleed, but in a funny, light hearted way. He referred to the soundbleed as coming from "bassnectar" but he pronounced "bass" like the fish.

You wear shoes?
God yes, you must take care of your feet. My first few years I wore just birks but then I graduated to some shit-kicker sneakers that I could just romp around in and throw away after the fest. You are on your feet all day/night. If you dont take care of them then you will probably have a miserable time by Saturday...

Yeah, I was jk. I'm not some Hobbit running around barefoot either. I guess some people do that, but they're insane.

I mean I will occasionally slip off my sanuks in Centeroo and get some grass between my toes, but that's only if I plan to be at a particular show fer a good amount of time.

1st time going to Bonnaroo and was curious how the comedy tent is managed? Do you wait in line to get tickets in advance or first come first serve? Thanks!

Usually you get tickets in advance (more recently they scan your wristband and give it a "ticket") but you still have to wait in line before the show to get a decent seat
It's unclear how they'll do it this year because they combined comedy and cinema (since cinema has always been first come first serve)
