woah hold the phones, Kaskade released a Christmas album.
I always used to think, "man I'd love some a big-room version of Silent Night", and now, it's here.
I saw some facebook commenter say that King Gizz should put out a Christmas album and now I really want that to be what their last album of the year is
I was kind of lying about the hip hop i guess, Kamaiyah, Armand Hammer, Yung Lean (surprise surprise) were all good, also not sure if that No Warning Offset/21 Sav was last month or not.
You're about the 10th person to make this observation
but...

King Gizzard puts out an album every month and I'm done keeping track.
I don't understand this argument. Couldn't you just say that you don't enjoy their music, so you don't feel like sifting through it to find something you might enjoy? Otherwise, if you even moderately enjoy them, I don't really get being tired of a band's output. Like, I don't like Father John Misty, so if he started releasing an aggressively cerebral album four times a year, I'd definitely not keep track either. But, say a middle of the road band I like a medium amount and am generally interested in like Mac DeMarco started releasing four albums a year, you better believe I'd listen to all of them.
Maybe my point is more of a question: Do you just not care about King Gizz? Or are you just generally bored by a lot of modern music? The latter seems to be the case, it seems to me. Either of those are totally fine obviously, everything is subjective; do your thing. I'm just curious.

I like all the albums they've put out this year (some more than other), but I guess exhaustion is starting to set in? Plus it makes it hard to get "close" with an album, because as soon as one starts to settle there is a new one!! Same thing with Mac. I like him, but I think that much output is bad for anyone.
Which brings me to my actual answer - Yes you can say "just skip a few of the weaker releases" but to me it kind of cheapens it, you know? I get releasing one EP of b-sides or something with your regular album (Sufjan with his newest Carrie accompaniment, for example), but this much output just isn't good for anyone. And I say that as a musician, and how I personally approach music creation. Obviously my feeling isn't going to apply to every other artist and that's fine.
If AnCo started putting out an album every month I'd probably feel the same, and they are about as close to a favorite band that I have still releasing music.

I get this. Super prolific output is almost guaranteed to reduce the quality of any artists overall catalogue. But I also tend to weigh the importance of a "catalogue" differently from artist to artist.
King Gizz haven't worn me down yet. I think it's their tendency to switch things up or at least provide some sort of shtick with each release that allows each record to still feel like its own separate thing rather than them just busting out a bunch of the same kind of shit. But I also do hope they take things slow next year and would be perfectly alright if they didn't put out a new album at all.
Ty Segall is a guy who I respect immensely but who I have no intention of keeping up with every release
This month ended up being a lot harder than I thought, I'm still on the fence between King Gizz, Björk, Kelly Lee Owens, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Converge. Haven't listened to that Sharon Jones record though (yet)
Spotify doesn't really specify when a certain record got released so easy so I assumed the Deluxe version came out with the normal version or something. Anyways, my bad.. Only got to know about her a few days ago so yeah
