Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Edit: I think having a combination of acts 4-10 like 2 Chainz/Future/Big Sean would be just as affective as having Drake at this point. That might make someone like The Killers easier to swallow.

Inforoo had the tendency to bump MMJ for a few years for no apparent reason. Actually this is worse than that.
Edit: I'll just keep this list updated for you guys
Not a headliner* RTJ Arctic Monkeys TWOD
When Arctic Monkeys drop their next album they will likely be headliners.
That's what Coachella was saying about Phoenix then Bankrupt happened. I think best case scenario for them would be to drop the album next year, mostly stick to European fests and a US tour, then if the album and singles do as well as AM pull for headlining spots throughout 2019

The bands that stand out to me as one album away are Tame Impala and possibly Vampire Weekend. The Arctic Monkeys were #9 in 2014 and haven't done anything since. Their first album was a huge smash in 2006 and got them on SNL. Since then, they haven't built on that as best I can tell.
If it's even a debate as to whether the Strokes are a headliner, Arctic Monkeys should be a certain no. AM have been active for about the same amount of time as Arcade Fire, and it hasn't happened for AM yet, while Arcade Fire have been headlining for years. If their next album has Suburbs-level success, wins Album of the Year, etc, maybe. But I don't know why we'd assume that it would.
I guess mid-tier fests could use Arctic Monkeys' history of headlining festivals in Europe as evidence, but their numbers here don't show it. Biffy Clyro might headline all over, but they are still mid-day booking here, unfortunately. I see AM preheadlining (though I would like to be wrong).
I would bet on Tame Impala headlining next cycle, proof the world isn't complete shit.

A better idea on their end would be to not wait and see if the album is successful or not. Take bookings based off the success of the last run. Then spend a year rolling around in piles of money.

Am I the only one who thinks Bonnaroo wouldn't book Fleetwood Mac? Do the youths really want to see Fleetwood Mac? Where are the youths of Inforoo, come tell us of your age group.

I thought it was pretty stereotypical that young people really enjoy Fleetwood Mac. I mean young hipsters definitely do. I think young people are more into Fleetwood Mac than U2. Besides The Cure, they would be my first choice for a legacy headliner.

I would love Fleetwood.
I'm losing my edge to the kids whose footsteps I hear when they get on the decks.
Come to think of it one of my buddies who is in his early twenties loves Fleetwood Mac. And The Police. I thought maybe he was just a weirdo.

Arctic Monkey's last album was pretty damn big and reintroduced them for the under-20 crowd. The only reason they were 9th in 2014 was because of how stacked that lineup was. And I think we all know they haven't done anything since, but the assumption is that they're about to roll out a new record and if that brings one or two really big singles it's certainly possible they make the jump

Definitely. All of the flower crowns would be out for their set

2014 was stacked and Arctic Monkeys were behind Vampire Weekend and Phoenix, two bands that would be letdowns to me as Roo headliners, particularly Phoenix. Their 2013 album didn't move the needle enough to make this not so, so why assume their 2017/18 album would? It could just as easily be bad and not have catchy tunes for beer commercials, and they're back to playing midday What or at best subheadlining.
Gorillaz are the five at ACL. They're bigger in the US than Arctic Monkeys, in my mind. If Arctic Monkeys headline Bonnaroo, it's a bit of a letdown.

Fleetwood Mac would be a huge disappointment for me. I've seen them and I'm sure it would be the same exact thing at Bonnaroo. They're kind of boring outside of Tusk. Heck, I'd rather have The Who.
On the other hand, I couldn't believe how good of a band Muse were on the Firefly stream.
I'd love to see Depeche Mode or The Cure or Gorillaz, too. I'm realizing that I've been to too many festivals and shows and that I've probably seen every realistic possibility outside of these few. Oh and Frank Ocean would be cool.
For the fourth name, I'd love to see Missy, Dolly or Jeff Lynne's ELO (though he might be further down).
Are there any 10, 20 or 30 year anniversaries of bands not touring now coming up that might get them out of retirement?
Young people that go to festivals would definitely appreciate a Fleetwood Mac set more than a U2 set
yep. lots of my female friends are obsessed with Stevie Nicks and care a lot more about her and Fleetwood Mac then "those guys who put their album on everyones iPhone" (an actual quote from my college aged friends).

Young people underrate U2 and pretend to like the Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac more than they probably actually do imo. They just have a little more street cred. My guess as to why would be that they either don't put out new music or when they do no one really cares. U2, on the other hand, desperately want to stay relevant, and kids don't like when people try that hard.
I think bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode probably only move the needle for them if they're weirdo goth type kids like I was, but even I was more into Nine Inch Nails and metal than those two bands.
I assume that as long as marijuana exists Floyd, Zep and their members will remain a big deal to young people.

Man I dunno what under-20s you've been running with.
(Full disclosure: I first learned of them because Brianstorm was on GH5.)

There's a reason "Do I Wanna Know" has more than 5x the Spotify plays that "I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor" does and more than 3x "Flourescent Adolescent"

Which is exactly my point. AM didn't reintroduce the band.

Ahh I was misreading what you were saying. I guess I meant it introduced them to the new crop of young people.

Could that reason be that the song came out since Spotify already existed/had major penetration, whereas the other two came out in 2006 and 2007?
Again, that song came out in 2013, ahead of Arctic Monkeys being 9 at Roo. AM were also 13 at ACL 2013. They were 4th at Lolla in 2014, so that's something. I'm just wondering how many hundreds of millions of spins these songs that no one here has heard yet have to get for them to be a bona fide Bonnaroo headliner, and why we're assuming they'll replicate or improve on the success of their 2013 album.

Would Depeche Mode be the #1 headliner of the year for Roo?
I doubt most of the people who went to Roo this year even know who Depeche Mode are
I think you're right. Just look at that goon in Music Midtown thread. But that doesn't mean they won't book them. They've done nothing to suggest that they will stop booking a legendary headliner or two even with Live Nation's presence. I don't really think The Weeknd worked as well as they thought it would, either. No one I talked to all weekend mentioned looking forward to his set and it was one of the more empty headlining sets I've ever seen in 12 years. What really surprised me was the amount of young people who were there to mark The Chili Peppers off their bucket list. I know, I almost threw up the first time I heard it too.
I honestly have no idea who they are going to book next year. I've never been so miffed about it.
