When I asked most young people about U2, the majority of their answers was something like "fuck U2, they forced an album onto my phone".
Meanwhile that headline show was amazing imo. My whole group that consisted of all (10) college kids really enjoyed their set and changed opinions they had before.

I'm pretty okay with my top 3 too. Foo Fighters are exactly the same as RHCP - older rock band that might not make the best music, but very reliable and lots of people know them. The Killers would appeal to lots of college students. They're also really good too, and have proven their headlining capability to me at Music Midtown last year.
Throw in some Arctic Monkeys around the #4-6 spot plus some 21P, Lumineers, and Phoenix and lock it up.

I hope they don't book the Arctic Monkeys as headlines so all the middle tier festivals near the midwest book them as headliners so I can go to that and only have to battle half the crowd Bonnaroo gets. Then go see Fleetwood Mac at Bonnaroo.
Maybe I'm being foolish but I don't think Bonnaroo will be getting 2 ACL leftovers as headliners.
I don't see why not. The top 5 of ACL16 is Radiohead, Mumford, Kendrick, LCD, and Major Lazer, who have all been in the top 5 of Bonnaroo since 2015 except Radiohead which we would be lucky to get next year. RHCP and Chance the Rapper are both headliners at ACL this year. Roo and ACL have shared so many headliners in the past 2-3 years that I feel like it makes Jay-Z and the Killers more likely in the future.
Am I the only one who thinks Bonnaroo wouldn't book Fleetwood Mac? Do the youths really want to see Fleetwood Mac? Where are the youths of Inforoo, come tell us of your age group.
I'm 21 and I'm a moderate fan, to be honest initially I'd be more excited than I was for U2 but I pretty much did a 180 on them. My girlfriend who's 20 is obsessed with Fleetwood Mac and would definitely go back if they book them

Mix it around however you think is appropriate. Do this with an average undercard full of fest fodder (heck you could even throw in a couple niche acts) and I bet it would get Roo back to where it once was.
Also I don't get all the Foo hate on this board. While I thought Sonic highways wasn't the best, there could be so much worse. I love the new single and their live show is amazing.

Foo Fighters are long overdue and would be a fantastic headliner given a long enough timeslot.

I feel like ODESZA are the most likely candidate for one of the top EDM slots. Also I feel like VW and LDR would probably be flipped, maybe not, idk.
There's a reason "Do I Wanna Know" has more than 5x the Spotify plays that "I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor" does and more than 3x "Flourescent Adolescent"
Could that reason be that the song came out since Spotify already existed/had major penetration, whereas the other two came out in 2006 and 2007?
Again, that song came out in 2013, ahead of Arctic Monkeys being 9 at Roo. AM were also 13 at ACL 2013. They were 4th at Lolla in 2014, so that's something. I'm just wondering how many hundreds of millions of spins these songs that no one here has heard yet have to get for them to be a bona fide Bonnaroo headliner, and why we're assuming they'll replicate or improve on the success of their 2013 album.
To the first part, obviously the timing has some impact, but you still can't look at those numbers and deny that the album had a huge impact for them. I'd bet if you asked music fans under 25 to name an Arctic Monkeys song, a big majority would give one from AM. That's probably not the case with Arcade Fire/Reflektor.
But I've also been saying that their new album would have to do as well as AM, or at least close with a couple big singles, for them to get the bump in the US. Which is why I don't see it happening, if it does at all, until 2019
