People probably went to Bonnaroo for other reasons that year too. I'm sure things like a Buffalo Springfield reunion helped. It wasn't Eminem alone.
edit: in fact I know that's the case because out of the group of five who went with us, only one of our parties decision was influenced by Em alone. We were more excited for BS.
I was super excited to see Eminem live for the first time. Ended up equally bummed his performance stoked my skepticism of live rap/hip hop as actually entertaining.
The weekend was, though, about seeing Buffalo Springfield live. No let down for my crew on that front.

Probably should mention Arcade Fire, WP, Black Keys, MMJ, Lil Wayne, SCI, Robert Plant, a rising Mumsons, The Strokes, Bassnectar, Primus, Dr John, Pretty Lights, Allison Krauss, Florence, EITS, STS9, Gogol Bodello, Galactic, Beirut, Big Boi, Gregg Allman, Ratatat, Robyn, Warren Haynes, Opeth, Deerhunter, Atmosphere, OCMS, Bootsy Collins, Bela Fleck, Grace Potter, Mavis Staples, Bruce Hornsby, Loretta Lynn, The Walkman, The Sword, !!!, Junip, etc
Giving Eminem credit for 2011's ticket sales is just silly. That fest was stacked and served multiple bases.

but it wasn’t a disaster, correct? That’s what I was saying.

Sorry, must have misunderstood. If you mean by Eminem's sheer presence? Not at all. If you're just talking about his performance, I still defend that, but left with no desire to ever see him again.
Ratatat and Big Boi were pretty fun late night sets in particular. I also RV'd that year with my long time high school buddies (the only fest we ever hit up as a group), but I digress.

I've wanted to see Ratatat on the lineup (late night specifically) since I've been following Bonnaroo.

What about the fact that we couldn’t hear Buffalo Springfield till it was almost over

Right, this festival will do fine with Eminem as it’s #1 and he alone will still move a fuckton of tickets, but I’m not saying they’re gonna come close to 80,000+ if the undercard is trash.
According to COS Eminem, Beyoncé and The Weeknd are Coachella’s headliners. Hopefully that Eminem signing is an exclusive.
Yikes, what a bad top 3. I don’t really think it’ll be an exclusive and Em will play a few fests next year but it does make him unlikely for Gov Ball I’d think.
Jay-Z - The Killers - Jack White - Arctic Monkeys - Bassnectar /thread
Have we given up on Fleetwood Mac?
I still think it could happen because I don’t really take anything Launchy says seriously unless he’s serious in tone when he says it. It’s really either Fleetwood Mac or Jay Z at this point imo. If it were someone like The Stones or Radiohead, I’d imagine we would’ve heard about it by now.
Gonna speak heresy though, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium > Doak Campbell Stadium. I went to the UF-FSU game this year at BHG and holy hell that place is amazing. I can only imagine playing LSU or Bama at night and how crazy it gets. Doak is sprawling, but doesn't have the same imposing feel.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I couldn’t hear at all and then the rain started and a bunch of people left. I only moved up about 15 feet to near the trees but could suddenly hear everything. Which Stage is so touchy with sound BUT Buffalo Springfield was definitely the number one reason I went that year
