Yea, he'll be worse than Butch. They have to be really desperate to be interested in him. He's trying to get more money and causing some kind of uproar because he thought he was getting the Ole Miss job and didn't get it. He's one of Clemson radio's most made fun of and hated coaches. Butch was another one.

This. All of the ACC football twitter/message boards talked in pre-season about how they had a top 20 team in terms of talent and everybody is going to wonder why they came from at the end of season...big swing & a miss. Dude has been 15-25 in ACC play.
Or is he just going Gundy to get a better contract?

At this point, it becomes about the leadership. The fans have continued to come for years and years despite the mediocre performance on the field. Firing Butch was Currie's chance to put a better coach on the sideline, and so far, he's fucking blown it at historic levels. The fanbase has just had enough of it.
Then again I've also seen rumors of McElwain, Dennis Erickson, and Beau Baldwin. At least the Les Miles rumors have stopped recently, that's probably a lot more than we can afford.

It should feel good getting the biggest promotion of your career while also knowing you're a crisis fallback choice that half of Tennessee will irrationally hate from the start.
That's got to give whoever it ends up being the warm fuzzies. Or as somebody, somewhere, will say in denial, "the motivation to really prove himself and bring this program together."
I have a conspiracy theory. Brohm’s buyout drops by $1 milly after 12/5. He actually did reach an agreement in principle with UT, but he is required to go all in on pretending he’s staying at Purdue until 12/5 passes. I proposed this to my cousin, and he made the observation that Brohm has followed UT players and recruits on Twitter. I did not verify what my cousin said. I’m a little drunk and a lot stupid.

I don't get the hate for Doeren (except from Sang, his actions after the Clemson game were garbage). They should probably be ranked in the playoff poll, they are 24th on Sagarin with a SOS of 10; they lost that fluky game to South Carolina to start the game when they had 4 turnovers, otherwise their losses are to Clemson and Notre Dame and Wake (not great, but not awful as they are 30th on Sagarin). He built a nasty DLine there, and has a reputation for really getting after it on the recruiting trail. Better job at Tennessee means he'll recruit even better.

I saw a report that Currie made an offer (which included a full buyout to Purdue) to Brohm who agreed to it. Currie then took it to the chancellor who denied it. Currie then took a smaller offer to Brohm who then said no. If stuff like this spreads, fan base is gonna riot for real.
