If true, it’s quite possible Currie was fighting for the fans all along, and suffered the Haslam wrath as a result.
I do find it odd that they would fire him the morning after it looked like he was hiring a coach that was actually getting a positive reaction from the fans.
Can't wait for the 30 for 30 on the UT coaching search.
What if I told you that Herm Edwards being hired 28 years after his last college job wasn't in the top 5 weirdest things that happened in college football coaching searches in 2017? ESPN Presents a 30 for 30: Big Orange Screw-Up, a look at all of the coaching search fiascos in the 2017 hiring season, culminating with the VOLcanic Tennessee coaching search.
I try not to laugh at this stuff because Alabama’s had some rough years prior to Saban, but this whole Tennessee situation is a fucking dumpster fire and I mildly enjoy it.

Everything I have heard was Currie was the Haslam's guy. By chance, I was at a meeting this morning that Bill Haslam made a quick appearance at. He was not as upbeat as normal.

Shout out to Florida State for taking a little bit of the spotlight off Tennessee for a minute. I read an article from one of their local sites about who they should/could get as a replacement. It looked sadly similar to several of the lists I saw originally re: the Tennessee job.

They've been pretty focused on Taggart as far as I can tell. But yea it's been a mess with Jimbo refusing to say anything. The rumor is that he wasn't really going to leave, he was just trying to get better facilities. But this is the 3rd year in a row he's flirted with other schools. They got fed up and said make a decision now, stay or go. Fans and players got upset. Some players threatened to transfer if he stays. Then he finally announces that he's leaving without saying anything to his players. That's such a cowardly move.

I saw an article that explained it mostly as the department getting tired of giving him things especially after the last two seasons. A&M will give him a lot so long as he wins. Are you psyched that Clemson will likely give him his first loss there?

Yea I'm excited to see him go because he had built them back up (before this year). I think it's going to weaken them for a while. It's a bonus that we get to play A&M next year. He has to play Clemson and Bama in their first 4 games next year.
I think it's good to have a "Tennessee" guy as AD. I just hope Fulmer isn't too conservative in his search. I will say it was nice hearing the ole pumpkin during the Pres conference.

On ESPN Chris Low mentioned Tee Martin and Kevin Steele because they're TN guys. I don't think Steele is head coach material, so I hope that meant as DC.
