Smart move Bonnaroo. I'll just be bummed when they convince me to come back next year and it's a shit show but there's one or two artists I want to see there.

I mean if they were smart they'd just expand the grounds and put the stage far enough away that they could fit tons of people around it. There's room to push back the boundaries, no?

interesting. I guess its been heading in this direction for a while. If the names were better, it would actually be an attraction for me. Curious to see what it looks like honestly.

Thurs: 6 Acts - standard Thursday amount per stage
Friday: 8 Acts - maybe one more than usual including late nights?
Saturday: 7 Acts - standard for Saturday
Sunday: 4 acts - less than normal
Plus 3 acts that were announced for silent disco.
I wonder if this stage will go all night or if they will just slip in an extra artist or two during U2 on Friday and keep the non-late late nights of the last couple years the same.
28 acts, 7 per day average...Is this going to going on just at night? Or are they all pumping those beats for 2 hours?
My guess is they don't start it up until 6 or 7, forcing all the non-button pushing bands to be dispersed among This That and Which, creating more day time conflicts and shorter sets
Not that we weren't already sensing this change, but I suppose this affirms the new booking strategy and all but guarantees future lineups will be roughly 20% bargain bin EDM, with the occasional gem or two. Ugh. That's such a huge percentage to immediately write off.
I just wish we could have both, EDM and IDM. (I'm oversimplifying, IDM is a dumb term, EDM doesn't just mean bad EDM, etc., but you all know what I mean.) Coachella manages to cater to both crowds. This isn't either/or; it's just the way they're choosing to go forward. That's what's so disappointing.
To be clear, I think the new area could be well done, and I like that they're freshening up the tent/stage layout. Everything gets stale after a while, so I don't mind that at all. Hopefully they incorporate some interactive/neat art.

It all depends upon placement, right? If they're expanding the footprint of Centeroo, it could be a good thing, allowing more room for the Who Stage or they're calling it this year. Or they could just change everyone to a 45 minute set so they can fit all the acts in.
I'm intrigued by what this means for the schedule, even though probably not going this year.

I'm also really curious as to what "all night" will mean. Like are they going to have random DJ's come on stage after 3am and the main acts are done? It would be very strange if there was no music at all after 3am. Maybe the silent disco artists that are listed will be the ones taking over after the main artists?

my guess is they'll still kind of treat it like kalliope and whoever wants to play after the last act can if they want

They should put it where BFE behind What used to be. It's self-contained and they seem to not use it any more except for volunteers. (Fuck those guys! )
How can anyone be upset about this? I have a feeling we'll see a slight change in the way that they have that corner of Centeroo setup this year. It looks like Kalliope is going away and is going to be replaced by this. I would assume they'll move the waterslide over slightly to the area where Kalliope was and use the waterslide space for this new stage as well.
I would assume this stage won't start until 4-5ish everyday because there won't be any need for changeover on the stage in between acts now that Roo is providing the production and not the individual artists. Most EDM artists who aren't at the headlining level travel with very little overhead, so adding a base production to their sets is a welcome addition for artists and fans.
I would still expect this stage to be "dark" during a portion of the headliners set but will pick up right there after the headliner finishes, or maybe start 15-30mins before they finish. Also, I guarantee we'll see Marshmello, Big G, and Yellow Claw all playing during the pre-HL Which slot each night. Expect Major Lazer and Flume to remain on Which LN due to their large crowd sizes and the fact that they tour with their own production.
I'm surprised there's a negative reaction to this, I feel this is a huge plus for everyone.
1) Separates the electronic crowd from more chill shows and vice versa. This was an aspect I liked about coachella too.
2) Always gives you a place to go dance if you feel like it
3) Sound bleed could be a bad thing, but this appears to be replacing kalliope, which surely will help with the sound bleed near the other two tents
4) Better light shows for acts that use them
Totally agree with all 4 points...not that I am a huge EDM fan either. I don't think sound bleed to other stages will be bad since it is farther away from the others tents and stages than Kalliope was.
