I'm driving all the way from Arizona to Manchester, and I'm curious as to how extensive the car searches are. I am traveling with one other girl. We are both 18 and have fake IDs. We are considering bringing in alcohol, but obviously don't want to be charged with a MIP. We are car camping so the car will be full of things. Do they look through everything? Or should we just buy alcohol inside the festival?
FWIW I've brought in booze every year and never been asked for an ID at the car search. I've been through both the volunteer and police search, and I've been attending since I was 17 years old.

It's not that bad. They normally search for glass bottles in your luggage/groceries. Then they do a simple search of all your valuables (electronics, backpacks, underwear, toiletries, etc). After this simple search they then proceed to the trunk and remove your spare tire. I thought they were just looking for things under the tire, but apparently they are looking for beer inflated in the tire itself. It really doesn't take that long though. Around the 30 minute mark they remove all of the carpet for a slightly more thorough search. Then comes your body. It's really not that bad though and worth it considering it ultimately reassures our safety. Just watch out for the cameras in the woods is my best advice.

Don't bring in glass bottles. Don't have a stupid amount of alcohol. Don't make it look like you are hiding it. Don't make it look like you are flaunting it. And be nice and cooperative. You'll be fine.
And don't bring fake ID's. That's bound to complicate your life more than having to throw away some beer.
It will be interesting to see if/how security changes this year, given what happened over in England. I'm betting that the searches will be more thorough than typical this year and security in the campgrounds/Centeroo will be more visible.

Was there an uptick in security after the Bataclan?
They have said on twitter that they are not changing their bag policy to get into Centeroo, at least as so far as it applies to things like Camelbacks.
That said, there is often a disconnect between what they tell attendees and what gate security believes when it comes to entry into Centeroo.
The latest attack happened a few weeks before Bonnaroo causing everyone to be at a higher alert level leaving little time to adjust.
I am not saying that there will/should be additional security. The threat may be judged to be more specific to England/Europe. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised to see additional security. My guess is that we will see the same basic security just that the car/Centeroo checks will be a little more thorough and we might see additional security around the grounds/Centeroo.

The Pulse attack actually happened during Roo last year and there was no noticeable security response.
Personally, I'm fine with sacrificing some time upon entering Roo if it means that there won't be entering Centeroo. I'd rather be sitting in my car in the middle of the night with access to air conditioning and music than standing in ninety degree sun missing sets while trying to avoid being in other people's selfies.

Two of our group actually are from that area in Florida and ended up leaving after the Pulse attack. But I didn't notice any increase as well, although the undercover officers were out in full force before the attack.
As for the avoiding other people's selfies, you are supposed to be doing awesome photobombs, not avoiding.
Only time they'll ask for ID is if you get "randomly" selected for a cop search. They didn't even ask for IDs for a 21+ wristband.
I work for one of the Wristband groups. Whomever does this is a complete piece of shit and makes us all look bad. I will ID everyone. no ID, no bracelet. My team represents a local soccer organization and Bonnaroo pays our organization to come do this. for someone to NOT check ID's can ultimately lose it for my organization. If i catch one of my team members doing this, I will personally escort them off the farm.

How was the police search? What was different about it then a normal one? Did they actually unload the car? Been to 5 and have only seen it in passing.

Basically, if you get pulled off for the police search and you have something you shouldn't have, you're better off just giving it up, because they are going to find it. They will pull every single thing out of your car and they will be looking for any kind of hidden compartments as well. My buddy thought he had a foolproof spot to hide his corn in a compartment in his trunk that he needed a screwdriver to get to. It took them a while, but the cops found it eventually. Then once they are done you get to pick all of your belongings back up from the ground and repack your car.

If they do find weed, does anyone know if the cops in TN arrest you, or do they just confiscate it, give you a summons, and let you go on your way?

Enroute to Roo: Who knows yoh...mind your manners and good luck. All to the whims of the department and officer.
At Roo: As of 2 years ago, I think, Coffee County's newish DA is making some type of appearance mandatory for any offense that would normally require it. If its a smaller amount, and not I nor anyone else know the magic "you are arrested" amount, then you will receive a citation with requirement to appear. In the past you could just send monies and keep your nose clean in TN for a year and it went away. Now you gotta come back or pay a lawyer to appear if that is allowed (only some cases I hear will that fly) and then pay monies and keep your nose clean for a year.
Other than that annoyance after the fact most times they take it away from you and send you on your way.
I have had no issues personally but have been reading this stuff since 2010 and every year folks tell their law stories
