I tried to start the applause at the end of Evian Christ (his name was literally being projected behind him at that point) and it didn't catch on and this guy behind me laughed at me lmao. The actual applause started like forty seconds later.
Autechre (blackout set) into Evian (one of the most intense visual shows I've ever seen) was wild. Yesterday ruled. Probably top festival day of my life.
I did get a kimchi and smoked cheese bao yesterday. It was aight but the kimchi wasn't spicy at all so I was let down. Just pickled cabbage, basically.
However, the chicken wings at this place (it's labeled "Asian Food" or Cafe Xica in the food court) were awesome, they gave you a ton of them, and they were only six euro. Definitely check those out. And the hong kong bao, which was pork belly I think, was pretty good too. Those wings are a deal and a half.

Security is frustratingly inconsistent. Got up early to make it to caretaker and at the auditori security line they made me take out my camelbak and put it on the ground next to the trash, they said we could come back and get them and when we did after caretaker they were in the garbage. Left to go eat and when we came back through main entrance and the security guy there patted my shorts pocket and that was literally it. Didn’t even open any bag pockets
Beck was very fun, totally the opposite from his SXSW set. New band was a blast and very dancey. Slower songs were gorgeous.
The National put on one of the best sets I've ever seen them, and very refreshing having a not drunk Matt. Also laughed when he said "the last 3 years I've been sad and high, and now I'm just high."
Beck - The National - Caribou - Mogwai was really all I needed yesterday..and also the kiss on the cheek from the hot guy from Mexico helped too

How were the National’s new tunes? Vibe-wise, do they skew toward any particular era for the band?

Hmm...they were both pretty mid to uptempo tracks, a little slower at the beginning and then I feel like they picked up the energy as the went along, sort of like Graceless?
With the amount of Spanish people who love to hear themselves talk during sets at this festival, I guess I have to go see Squarepusher instead of Beach House.
