no; it’s the only one I’m not 100% sure about but it doesn’t have a year or anything, just a sustainability message.
I read somewhere that 2020 cups is gonna be released only on Saturday, maybe what you have is not the correct one
Thanks for the heads up on that - the one I have is sponsored by Beefeater so it seemed a bit suspect lol. sadly I think I’m gonna skip Caterina Barbieri to head in early to try and find it so I don’t have 40 cups in my backpack all day lol
also sorry but I am not wearing the horn today because there’s a group of British people who stop me every single time they see me and it and talk to me for 15 minutes. I have places to go and bands to see!!!
sadly I couldn’t find cup number 20 but according to the poster at the cup collection center (which for the record has massive lines right now and is only being staffed by two people) it just had Pavement listed on it. Also according to Twitter people were asking around all the bars for them but apparently no one had any. I have never been and likely will never be again this confused or angry over a fucking cup.

I heard the prize was 2 tickets to LA version and a flight ticket, but can't say for sure if it's true

Hyperbolic #cupposting aside, I had a really great time at my first Prima. I think it says something about the quality of the lineup where I almost kind of became desensitized to the fact that I was seeing multiple rare or unique acts a day so I’d stop and have to think to myself things like “You are *actually* seeing Cybotron right now.”
I think Charli XCX was my single favorite show of the whole festival, which is wild considering that it was just her, her backing tracks, and two cubes. Others I really liked off the top of my head included Cybotron, Objekt, Roisin Murphy, Neneh Cherry, Iglooghost, The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices, Stereolab, Rosalía, Shonen Knife, and Beak>. The only two I didn’t really like were Miley Cyrus and Dirty Projectors (part of if it is probably just the way they’re playing on this tour but they seemed a lot less energetic compared to the tour for s/t).
Logistically, aside from things consistently opening a little bit later than scheduled, this thing was pretty close to perfect. The staff was very friendly, the food was very good, security was always a breeze. Some of the bar lines tended to be really long but I never felt like it was unusually so.
The one thing I was not expecting was just how steep all the walking was. Looking at the map, I just assumed everything except for the Primavera stage, the Bits, and the main stages were all more or less on level ground and I could not have been more wrong lol. I think that the Parc del Forum was a good location but good lord it was a haul to get between most parts of the festival.
Obviously I would have liked to get a free ticket for next year but clearly that wasn’t in the cards, oh well. I’d like to go again but if I can get tickets for it the 50th anniversary of Glasto seems pretty tempting. Primavera LA sounds very intriguing though. We’ll see!
Edit: I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention this but it bears repeating that tЯist♡n is so incredibly nice and fun to hang with. Wish I could’ve seen some more of you scattered across the fest.
I enjoyed her immensely, had the best sound at the pull&bear stage from the shows I saw. Showed off her less poppy singing chops and got more upbeat as well. Missed the first two songs
Finally able to unscramble my brain and collect some thoughts. I think overall, from a quality of shows standpoint this was probably the best festival I've been to. Nothing was disappointing to me at all. It also wasn't really noticeable in the moment, but females fucking owned this thing. The new normal/equal female representation thing worked out incredibly.
Some of my favorite shows basically in order
Rosalia - Her voice is incredible live and it was really great to see her first big hometown headlining show since she blew up. Stereolab - They were great and it was a couple of my friends I was with favorite band ever which made the show even better Cybotron - This shit was just wild. Charli xcx - Most fun set of the weekend, I was actually surprised that she was that good live. FKA Twigs - Really incredible show, says a lot about the acts above her that she's #5 here. Reminded me a lot of Sia, but more elaborate/less perfect. Apparat Live Band - Favorite auditori show of the weekend, been wanting to see him with his live band for a while and it was more than worth the wait. Neneh Cherry - It's insane that she's 55 years old, she fucking rocked the stage. Wednesday Campanella - Went to this with zero expectation and was blown away. The act before her started really late so basically the entire second half of Wednesday's show, she performed in the middle of the crowd on the beach and at a nearby food court area so they could start prepping the stage for the next act while she was still playing lol. Clara! - Amazing start to the fest on Wednesday, some crazy reggaetón DJing Yves Tumor - Again, had no idea what to expect and he was fantastic. The show was much more "rock" than I was expecting but it worked really well. Tirzah - her voice was perfect live and production was great. Cupcakke - second funnest show of the weekend and great way to close the fest on Sunday night. I brought my friend and wouldn't give him any clue what to expect and he loved it. SOPHIE - Might have been higher if I didn't have to leave early for Charli. Much better than when I saw her at Sonar last year and she even brought out Arca to rap. Objekt Live - Crazy sound design and production. I had to pee really bad during this set and was a bit destroyed by Cybotron. Danny L Harle - Just fun Primal Scream - Also fun Sons Of Kemet XL - These dudes have incredible energy.
It's kinda crazy but at this fest in Barcelona thousands of miles away from home I somehow tons of people there and it feels almost like a hometown fest now, I run into people everywhere. We did a 16 person Airbnb and it was a blast, although we almost got kicked out after the second night which would have been no Bueno. Was cool to run into Shuck a few times randomly throughout the festival and I even somehow happened to stand right next to hoffm83n at a show without knowing what he looked like at all and meet him too! I think as long it's financially feasible for me I'm going to be returning to this festival, nothing else can really compare, yall should come next year.
While getting drunk in lisbon my thoughts on this fest turned into thesis on music festivals and way too much about each artist that im going to put away for future use. This fest was inspiring. Here's some shorter thoughts about stuff that has kept with me.
Top 5:
Apparat Objekt live a/v Janelle monae Fka twigs Sons of kemet xl
6(jarv.is)
Fest thoughts: Wonderful crowd outside mordor. Top 5 doesnt reflect it but over 2/3 of artists I saw were female fronted. Mad cools large stage setup and sound quality is much better than Primaveras. Maybe they have restrictions on db levels? Auditori saved my feet, ray ban, lotus, auditori had great sound, Primavera didn't. Bits was cool but it's a trek and desperados stage was a little underwhelming but still super fun. heard it had been better in the past. Reusable cups were dope but 350ml made it hard to get drunk.
Meuko! Meuko! With live visuals by @naxscorp: Top show of Tuesday. They definitely inspired by the architecture of Taipei. The set started with a lack of rhythm and transitions to it but then started to build upon a white noise overlay on some of her longer songs. Was extremely experimental and rhythmes would come and go with a sense of place that I couldn't pin down. Visuals were trippy af, melting pagodas and flying through different created environments that reminded me of that brick hallway Screensaver thing back in windows 98?
Hatchie: Surprisingly good voice, videos I had seen prior seemed very flat. Not very engaging on stage but sitting out in the sun listening to someone who I've been obsessively putting on repeat was nice.
Cuco: was a Spanish favorite. Was second to rosalia in the shows that I saw for being a local favorite. crowd loved them and a good portion left after their set. Funky stuff, broke down into a couple songs where it was just the vocalist on top of rap/trap stuff that I can't remember the songs of.
Apparat;A+++++++++++++++++++++++
Was the end of a perfect run in the auditori, starting with Julian baker who had thousands of us trying to respectfully bawl our eyes out
Arteconcerte just put up a live performance but it doesn't quite capture how good they sound.
Bass was booming. Subbass had infinite range. Even when bass was at its peak brass instruments cut through. Sachas voice was clean at points but when he plays with effects I was destroyed. I can't think of another vocalist who was able to get such deep tones and crazy reverb/frays with effects.accomponnying musicians switched between a variety of instruments, hopefully they come stateside.
Upsammy: Her music just vibes with me on record amazingly. Her set didn't have much if anything of her own stuff it was psychedelic and spacey through much of it and then got noisey and almost wall of sound inspired towards the end with the bass kicking in hard. She hung out in the crowd after, and was extremely friendly.
Fka twigs: Choreographed genius. In terms of musical intrigue she has a bit of bjork rnb thing going but it's the choreography that was the star. Had a sword dance that cut to a curtain falling revealing a multilevel band in a kids see ghosts cube with her dancers throwing down behind her.
Sons of kemet xl 4 drummers with tuba/sax. Drummers were completely in sync and different setups created cool tonal dynamics. Tuba was able to hit high notes that ive never heard before. Great back and forth with sax, very medatative but danceable set.
Janelle monae: ROCKSTAR. unfortunately sound wasnt great. Was in the front of the second level of the crowd and goddamn was it all love. Costume changes, socially poignent interludes, being a pure musician, tightrope, pynk etc.
Objekt: with live a/v @ezzzrrra sounded phenomenal. Was so engrossed in the visuals and dancing my ass off I can't remember how much variation it had off of cocoon crush. This was their first live show. Ezra did a massive wall projection at d4n and there's a lot of footage of the show/his work on insta. Objekt incorporated live vocals, which were really creepy. Their collaboration was inspiring and has me looking at mutek to get more of that type of stuff.
Started to get sick Saturday. Tim hecker was meditative. Had lots of fun at primal scream who shouted out 13 floor elevators. stereolab. Stereolab was really good but had some rhythm issues and will only continue to improve as they get more practice in.
Jarv.is: Don't know anything about him or pulp. He is a pure showman. Got very spoken wordish, backing band sounded fantastic. He was really funny throwing out candy and pins to the crowd referencing his crazy past while going on about how we are atoms going through evolution, asking people in the front row what they are afraid of.
Amazing fest, hopefully I can return soon. Nice to run into tristvn for minute. Echo his thoughts on it seeming like a smaller fest. I was running solo but felt like I made friends with groups of people I kept on dancing with at different shows.

Hey, folks. So, with the vibe of Governors Ball continuing to proceed down the toilet the way it has been, I'm considering other options for my festival dollar next year. Primavera's lineup this year was killer, I know Barcelona is an amazing city...so I'm contemplating it in 2020. I had a couple of questions, if folks wouldn't mind answering:
1. What's the vibe/crowd demographic in terms of age?
2. Anyone who came from the U.S. (particularly anyone in NYC, but I'll take whatever I can get), would you mind sharing around how much you spent on lodging, flights, and food/drink for the time you were there, combined?
