How in the fuck is a Lucas directed movie the number one vote getter? He hasn't directed a good movie in my lifetime.
I voted for it because I thought Todd did a solid job casting it. But yeah, Lucas is a problematic directing choice for a myriad of reasons. Even firing on all cylinders he's never given the first indication he could direct political satire and/or dark comedy. He's notoriously bad with actors, which would be devastating working on a script like Stangelove. You can find quotes from a lot of the Star Wars folks backing this up.
You could go on and on.... especially with examples from the new trilogy.

He does know how to direct the shit out of a sand monologue.
You make a good point. I think I was on board with that film until I saw the director. I'm not mad that it made it to the next round. I am just really surprised it's number one.

I'm just as surprised. I thought nobody was noticing that. It was one of the first decisions I made not thinking about it. I just panicked because the directors I wanted were taken right away. Just pretend he's pulling a Shyamalan

Out of curiosity, who'd you want?
It was actually Quentin Tarantino. Not that I think he's the "best" choice but I just enjoy pretending "what would this movie be like....if Quentin Tarantino directed it".

Yeah, and everyone knows the worst director left anyway. He was also the worst when it was at 20.
I should vote for Double Indemnity because it is the only film that is going to get edited.
Just because a role wasn't drafted doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I mean, presumably somebody is directing The Dark Knight...
Who would even remake that? Captain even drafted a producer. I thought everyone drafting was the producer. I'm just being cynical now. I'd watch those Slaughterhouse-Five and Wes Anderson movies though.
