Whenever pablo asks a question, this thread goes silence. #observations
Well, the second hypothetical was more shade-throwing than actually asking. I know what most people chose to do with their time on that Saturday in June and how all that turned out.
We don't have Whataburger here, so I don't have enough data to answer the last question. But, I had In-N-Out a couple of times on my West coast trips, and I remember I liked it.
Fake news, first fell in love with Whataburger and Spicy Ketchup when I lived in Baton Rouge. I'm pretty surprised Whataburger isn't in NOLA yet.
NOLA is behind in some aspects. We just got a Dave and Busters. My dad may live in Baton Rouge, but I still had no idea there was a Whataburger there. I know they have a Jack in the Box (NOLA doesn't have that either). We don't even had a Kohl's here.

The best stuff at Whataburger is the non-traditional burger place stuff, like the chicken strip sandwich and the taquitos. Pro-tip: get the onion rings. They're good. The bun and patty on the burgers both contribute to the overall sandwich being a little gummy, but I still like them every once in awhile. I like that you can throw jalapenos on there. Overall, Whataburger is pretty good for a fast-food place, but it's one of those things Texans are a little too into about their state.
It's a lot like In-N-Out in that way. I've had In-N-Out three or four times. It belongs in the Pretty Good for a Fast-Food Place category, as well. Their burgers are probably better than Whataburger's just as a basic burger.
Depends what you're comparing really. Whataburger has a wider menu and their fries are on point. But In N Out's burgers are way better than Whataburger burgers.
It's a much more complicated than a simple either or answer. Be better people.

How have you and Dan808 had these burgerwhatas and outtas? We don't have these things in Akron. Do you guys have it in Columbus?
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Whataburger, for the variety they have.
This is the full answer, except I disagree on the Burger being better at In-N-Out. But I get all their burgers on toast. But neither are stellar burgers.
Whataburgers prize is really in it's not every day menu items, and breakfast. Things like the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich, The Avocado Burger (on toast), and the Spicy Strawberry Chicken biscuit (Sounds disgusting, but it's incredible). I'll also note that the onion rings are great, and the spicy ketchup is a perfect compliment to it. Spicy Ketchup is probably the reason I originally loved whataburger so much, and I'll admit I go there less now that I can just buy the stuff by the bottle at HEB. The Sauce at In-N-Out is good, but it's not Whataburger spicy ketchup good. It taste too similar to Cane's sauce to me, which while good, belongs on a chicken sandwich.

You forget about her time in Austin!
In-N-Out has a better milkshake, and I'd put their burgers about equal. But Whataburger beats them in everything else, fries, honey butter chicken biscuits, taquitos.
I didn't realize there were any Whataburgers outside of TX, surprised to hear they're in Louisiana.

Taquitos, Chicken biscuits and burgers at the same place? nuh-uh.

No only time I had in n out was when I went to Dallas.

There are a couple in Louisiana, but nowhere near New Orleans. I totally forgot that Kyle and I had one in Lafayette when we had his orientation for college.
Also on Whataburger. I forgot to mention any biscuit made with their Jalepeno Cheddar biscuit, and their Breakfast on a Bun.
If you think Whataburger is overrated, I think you're overrated.
it's overrated in the sense that people steal the numbers because it's "cool" or whatever, people wearing merch, stuff like that. And as much as the extended menu is better people still act like they've got the best burgers in Tx sometimes.

I'm pretty sure Maddog eats the shit out of Whataburger. He's not wrong that people are too into it, but I think on some level he's trying to sound cool here.
You know what people are truly way too into in Texas? Buc-ee's. Only Texans would buy t-shirts commemorating their visit to a really, really big gas station.

just because I eat something a bunch doesn't mean I don't think it's under or properly rated.

I agree on the Buc-ee's statement. It's like they went to a theme park.

I get Buccee's. But mainly because of it's stupid clean bathrooms, ridiculous amount of pumps, typically the cheapest gas on i10 east of town and i45 south east of town (I fill up in Texas Shitty once a week), and 10 cents off a gallon with a TDECU credit card. Also, texas cheesesteak burritos.
As far as people with t-shirts commemorating visits to gas stations, I dunno. My GF has a few, but only because most of the time the Buccee's t-shirts are comfort colors, which are difficult to find this side of Alabama for some reason. I'm not super into having anything printed on a shirt though. I think any t-shirt I have with something printed on it was given to me at some point. Mostly everything else in the store is full retail- which I'm not into.
And I haven't noticed any Whataburger shirts- only Whataburger thing I've seen is a guy at work carries one of those yeti type cups that's painted to look like a styrofoam whataburger cup. Which is I find kind of alright.
I've never had what a burger but I enjoy in n out. I think shake shack has the best burgers though
I've had one of the worst going out to eat experiences at shake shack and I felt like the burger didn't make up for how chaotic of a scene it was. Never again. (over the by the financial district in NYC, im sure more out of the way ones aren't so bad, but the food's likely the same)
