Any fest that was able to grab ATCQ on their final run of shows was lucky in retrospect. I know some of the shows were considered somewhat lackluster. Q-Tip said it himself though, "A Tribe Called Quest, we suffered a blow. We lost our boy Phife Dawg". I just appreciate the opportunity to have caught them live at this point (even if it was the last time).
I was disappointed at the time not to hear Can I Kick It or Award Tour, but considering that was their last show ever in their hometown, I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to see them (never got the chance with Phife).
Also, the crowd was fun. One dude was rapping every lyric while taking a landscape mode video on his iPhone for like the whole show. Consider how good of a dancer he was, I can't imagine the video looked that great, but it looked like good times!!

They did a surprise medley during LL Cool J's set at Meadows two months later. And they played both Can I Kick It and Award Tour. It was dope.

I think so. I don't know why AEG would have to wait for that UK festival when they were able to announce Arctic Monkeys at Firefly before Primavera or Mad Cool.

I was right there with you on "Can I Kick It" and "Award Tour." Honestly, for Tribe to only get 70 minutes at what was ostensibly their last-ever NYC show was a bit of a bummer, even if I enjoyed the hell out of that set.
Fortunately, it was made up for when Tip and Jarobi came out and did "Award Tour" with LL at The Meadows. That was a pretty special moment.
