Yes! Interesting to see if regular St Vincent or if unplugged/acoustic.
Also, as much as I don’t want to admit it, there’s no way our Museum Stage hypothesis is true. Newport is definitely in the finale of announcements here with the last 3 all being pretty big names. At worst, Sunday is complete. At best, somehow based on scheduling, there are 19 acts scheduled for that day so we will still get a headliner announcement.

I don't post a lot, but as soon as I saw Tuck and Patti being announced for Friday, I went to look at St. Vincent's dates and she is also free Friday. I could see her stripping away the big production and doing something special on Friday. Anyone else think that or are we done with Friday artists (I've been trying to keep up here on how many per day we have left).
Well I'm pretty happy with what is about to be announced this morning!!!!!
Just a few 100 miles preventing us from a Byrne and St Vincent Love This Giant set (in some way, I could have seen this set fitting at a folk fest without needing to strip it down to acoustic).
Friday headliner, right? She fits the mold of past Friday headliners and that's the only day she's free.
I think if unplugged, we see her close Quad Stage. If regular set, then probably Friday headliner. But it would seem strange to me to see Margo - Isbell - Sturgill - St Vincent. And I don’t foresee Sturgill and Isbell on Quad, but could be wrong.

It pretty much has to be an unplugged set. If you watcher her Coachella set, there is now way in hell she is (or could, logistically, at Newport) repeating that
Lots of options for the St. Vincent set. Maybe Moses Sumney will join her? They played together with Sufjan for the Oscars. I could see Lucius joining too and obviously Tuck and Patti
She's definitely Friday as that's only day open on her schedule. I still think Isbell or Sturgill is the headliner, but that's just my opinion. That should in theory finish off Friday and leave us with one announcement for Saturday assuming we didn't get museum stage acts, even though Sunday still says more artists to come.

I think the fact that "More Artists Coming Soon" has been up for a few days now on Sunday means it isn't an error.
Maybe they do something like 2015 and have 2 acts go directly into one another? I know that didn't add any more slots on that particular Friday, but it could have. Also, that same year with the short James Taylor set, they started the Fort at 11 AM on Saturday instead of the typical 11:30. Maybe we see that every day this year with a shorter set mixed in?

I’m still under the belief that the Nels Cline set isn’t a normal set and that’s what’s giving us an extra act on Sunday. Whether it’s shorter than a traditional set, whether he’ll be sitting in with a bunch of musicians on that day (it does say excursion), or whether that is our only Museum Stage act announced at this time.
well friday will definitely be me "move around and catch as much as possible" day of the three, damn those conflicts. i have serious, serious interest in darlingside, glorietta, isbell, lucius, margo, st vincent, sturgill, tyler childers and wood bros. at least for my tastes the other two days dont come close in terms of volume of acts i need to see.

Good call on that. "Resonator Excursion" definitely implies the "sitting in" theory. Plenty of acts that day would surely love Nels sitting in on a resonator (Glen Hansard, Brandi Carlile, Langhorne, Gary Clark)
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher
Laughing right now in my Newport Folk Family group chat about how Jay landed this one.
Jay: Annie, we'd love for you to come play a stripped down set at Newport some year. We don't have a huge budget, but the lore of the festival kind of speaks for itself. What would it take to get you here?
Annie: Tuck & Patti have to open for me.
J: What now?
A: My uncle and his wife. They play jazz lounge covers of pop songs. If you give them a line-up spot I'm in.
J: Maybe they could play with you or something...?
A: They get their own dedicated spot on the day I'm playing or I'm out.
I'm gonna try to whip up a mock based on that 2012 schedule with the fleshed out Museum stage lineup
It'd definitely open up a lot of potential and will probably result in the worst conflicts of my personal Newport history if that's what they're doing.

I was an early supporter of the museum stage theory, and as much as I want to believe it, I can’t imagine Newport isn’t in its finale week(s) of lineup announcements. You don’t get Shakey Graves, Glen Hansard, Ben Harper, Toots, and St Vincent in a row only for Newport to slow down and announce 15ish more acts to flesh the lineup (they can’t all be as big as the last 5 announcements). If anything, we have one or two acts already announced that are not playing traditional main stage sets (Nels on Sunday. Not sure who on Friday; maybe Tuck and Patti?) that are going to result in 19-20 acts booked and announced per day as opposed to the 18 booked per day last year.
