Love how Phil Cook has ingrained himself in the Newport community. Living in Raleigh, he is a great member of our music scene. Always special to see him up at our "summer vacation"

So which friends would the Cook brothers bring out at that show? I'd think Amelia Meath would show up but Sylvan Esso is playing XPO in Philly that day... unless they have an early set and come straight to the fort from there. Perhaps Justin Vernon? Which would probably rule out Bon Iver as a Sunday headliner because I don't think he'd go to Detroit on Saturday and then back to the fort again on Sunday (Maybe Friday... although doubtful), probably Hiss, Blind Boys of Alabama maybe? Who else?
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher

There's been a lot of talk on here about expanding musical genres and taking risks going forward. a new Tiny Desk just got posted of GZA & The Soul Rebels..

Charlie Parr for sure. I'd kill to see a Phil and Charlie duet 1922.

Houndmouth released a new single...hardly recognizable anymore...Those guys have not been the same without Katie.
Not sure what category to place this song in.
This band has no idea what they want to sound like. Their first album was singing about trains and other old times folky topics. 2nd album they shifted to more alt rock with still some tinges of folk. When they toured it they played with a horn section but without the best part of the band. Now sounds like they’ve gone full blown alt rock.
Toupin is doing some pretty boring music herself imo but she’s got an interesting voice which definitely leaves me some hope. I enjoyed the first album And the intensity of the live shows even if it was a tad derivative.
Just a thought. Saw that Fleetwood Mac is announcing a tour. Maybe had to announce Boston show before announcing them as a Saturday headliner? Last year there was a running theory about Stevie Nicks performing.

That might be too big to get. But I mentioned a while back that the only way Deer Tick headlines this fest, is backing Stevie.

The new houndmouth single is pretty cringe worthy. Loved the first two albums and always loved seeing them live. Was holding out some hope even without Katie but not sure now..

Fleetwood Mac are notoriously money hungry. Can't see them playing as a band, but any of Christine, Stevie, or Lindsey could potentially happen at some point down the line
not sure i mentioned it on here but i saw them a month or so back in brooklyn and they were incredible. if you havent taken chance to dig in, id recommend it prior to the fort, these guys are really great.

Lindsey is out of the band for its farewell tour, replaced by both Neil Finn of Split Enz and Crowded House fame and Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
