I can't help but feel like voting out jaz is a mistake. Not saying he's 100% town but all Potent has done this whole day is talk in circles and basically say anything to get him out of the runoff. AND THEN when he has the majority of the votes Zolah saves him. It's not really passing the smell test.

I was questioning them yesterday because I was leaning Jaz. I'm not going to go vote though while we were still waiting on someone else to cast a vote.

You're right.
Potent > Jaz > Potent
Ok. Let us slow the roll here. Potent, if you are Town, this isn't going to help us.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Well this is fabulous. I had some suspicions about Jaz being mafia... and with you looking like a done deal from the get go, I was suspecting a fellow mafia be voting for him who may try and save him.
So I have read and re-read and I can convince myself a reason of voting for either. I think LD was whacked solely on his bump that immediately put Maddog at 5-3 when it was 4-4. I think his talk about Potent was in retaliation for putting him into the runoff. (Could he be mafia? Sure). I'm going to go on votes here. And Jaz helped shape the initial runoff... And had I stayed on LD day 1, it would have been a townie that got lynched.
Potent also placed a vote on SFA who I considered could benefit from Maddog's outburst on his way out. What better cover for SFA after having the whacked guy's back and voting out mafia. (Not convinced of this, but it crossed my mind, I feel like mafia has something funky going on). I feel like a mafia member would have someone easier to go after other than someone who stood up for the whack and voted out mafia.
Zolah > Jaz
He did this AFTER you brought it up as a theory. Him and LLL added fuel to it. Perhaps one or both of them saw it as a chance to lead the town astray?
It also doesn't really make sense to vote Jaz if you think your theory about me is true.
1.you are voting along with me.
2. Jaz being mafia with me makes zero sense with your theory. It would mean mafia cooked up some longterm plan to distance themselves ftom Maddog. One lead a charge to get him voted off. THEN, for some reason, the other mafia draws attention to himself by trying to save Maddog from a runoff. Pretty positive Jaz and I arn't that dumb.

I think Potent has presented valid points, and I think Jaz has too. I'm not sure how any townie isn't finding it hard to decide which way to go here. Anyone who is pressing hard down on one or the other raises red flags for me. Potent and Jaz are obviously going to be defending themselves, but anyone else who seems sure of the role of either one of those two players is full of it, or worth putting a magnifying glass to because they are trying to influence the course of the game.

Never said I had it all figured out. (And there's more than just you that I could be looking at). I'm playing this game like meteorologists track hurricane paths. Many different possible courses. I'm solely going on my gut for this Jaz/Potent vote in the light of Maddog/LD. I'm not convinced with either vote that I'm voting the right way. Same went for LD/Maddog on day 1 and apparently I got that one right.

Forgive me for thinking that your post the was 1/2 about your theory(where you legitimized your vote by using it in your reasoning) was actually all from your gut.
But yeah, I also have no strong opnion either way. Typicalky mafia would split and lay low in this situation.

I agree with you. Half of my vote is about not voting with someone else. And it isn't you. But I'll let that stew.

Well, you're voting with him, so of course it's not him. Out of the other camp, excluding myself, I think 2 of the 4 are possibilities for whom you are talking about. JR is town in my reading and opinion.

Just remember that if Potent is mafia, his liking to vote for his flow mafia could also be working in reverse in regards to the one you are wary about voting with
Potent is talking a convincing talk, and I hate to put too much faith in speculation around LD, but I think the better move at this moment is to vote Potent. I'm voting earlier than I'd planned because I haven't reread yet, but I don't want everyone waiting on me. React people!
JR > Potent
I mean, I can convince myself that voting for either one seems more right. But in the end, most of us have no way of knowing, so we just have to make a choice based on which evidence we are more convinced of. Two people (possibly three if the Inspector is still alive and has asked about one of them or had a name) know if/which one of these is Mafia. Could be both, could be neither. Could be one. Fuck if I know. I'll do another read.
I voted "early" with my deciding vote because I'm not convinced of anything and I wanted to leave lots of time for movement and discussion. I need to do a reread too, but I haven't even read the next page yet. Sitting in the front yard watching the boys play basketball after I taught my son how to play.
potentpotables yes, I believe Maddog was mafia. If he wasn't and mafia wins it's on him.

Could you reword this? I think I know what you mean but I want to be sure.
Jaz, pretend you're not in a runoff. What do you think?
potentpotables, pretend you're not in a runoff. What do you think? Potent votes Potent??? Has this ever happened???
Day 1, I think we got mafia. Day 2 might be our townie v townie day.
My latest reread leads to a couple of names that aren't either of you. If you're town, help town.
If we are actually both townies, it probably makes more sense to vote me out: I think Potent and I are evenly matched as far as our helpfulness as townies is concerned, but in this particular game I think Potent is able to be more active and involved than myself.
If one of us is Mafia (meaning this as a thought experiment, as if God told the town there is a Mafia between the runoff but not which one of us), I think it makes more sense to vote Potent out, only because when I'm Mafia I tend to out myself and draw attention sooner or later, whereas Potent is very good at slipping through rounds, and his tendency to vote for fellow Mafia muddies the waters.
As a general strategy for this game, I always follow by the rule "don't vote off town". Sounds self-evident, but I just mean that if I can't determine who's most likely to be Mafia, I look on the other side and try to figure out who's most likely to be town - is this a move an Innocent would make, is this consistent with how s/he plays as town, etc. And since this is a game of numbers, it always makes more sense to not kill townies. So if Potent is a townie, I don't understand his vote for himself. The only people I've ever seen legitimately vote for themselves have been Mafia, except for ZIG's vote last game. I also have known Potent to intentionally seem emotional in the game when in actuality he's being a very calculating Mafia, which makes his claim to be a townie a little more dubious to me.

Can anyone else vouch for this sort of move by Potent as mafia in a game? I can't recall anything in the games I've played with him. I think of EAP when I see moves like this and assume it is a townie throwing a fit out of frustration. His move on to himself only solidified my own confidence in my vote. But if someone else has more evidence. I am really more about looking at consistent behaviors or uncharacteristic behaviors to pick up on Mafia. Like last game Potent was Mafia and making a comment about the whack not being in and then adding "I really thought it would be here by now", which for me tipped me off to acting because it wasn't something he would usually say.

The more they defend themselves, the more I think they are townies. Sincerity is hard to fake when you are a "bad guy", even in a game and neither sound like a Mafia spinning their wheels to me.

Okay, so are you mafia or Carina?
We can be pretty sure at least one surviving mafia voted LD on Day one.

Just say Danbob or whoever... Anybody trying to hide their affilations already knows you're on the look out from your earlier post.
You or JR are the next likly whack. No reason to be vague now.

True dat. I actually had a post already started about Danbob before he pushed at me for saving Potent. I added to it after that. Funny how when I said I was not wanting to vote with someone he shut up too.
Also, not that we're on Danbob here, but Danbob has been reading funny to me this game. First, while mafia is submitting a whack, he asks me why I wouldn't give LD a town read:
To me, everyone is guilty. JR reads most town to me though, because I am town and he had the choice of me, or mafia Maddog. Maddog is either mafia or really salty. I agree with Dan that SFA would be next on my list of likely town based on their heated ongoing argument. That didn't seem fake. I wouldn't clear LD though.
Even after saying this, I'm not glued to anything. I played into Potent's scheme last game and know anything can be possible.
Not clearing LD by any means but I'm curious to why you're hesitant to give him a town lead. Is there anything you have against him?
Then he said it was a waste of time to even consider why Maddog outed himself:
As for why Mad Dog decided to throw us off with a "reveal" I think it was nothing meant to confuse us (similar to what I did last game when my fake failed). I think it would be a waste of time to consider why he did it.
Then he voted Potent instead of Jaz. Which is fine. I did it too...
I've given the game a good reread and out of the runoff right now I think that Potent is probably the most likely candidate. I know why people put jaz into the runoff but I'm not really convinced he could be mafia. Out of carini and Potent I think potent has the stronger case here. I also think that his arguments on the last page don't make much sense- even going so far as to bring up gamblers fallacy. I'm open to discussion but for now I'm voting for potent.
I can't help but feel like voting out jaz is a mistake. Not saying he's 100% town but all Potent has done this whole day is talk in circles and basically say anything to get him out of the runoff. As a townie, I am confused AF as for who to vote for. I've spent way too much time trying to get these two talking. Danbob's been a little snarky and stinks to me. I don't want to vote with him.
Just remember that if Potent is mafia, his liking to vote for his flow mafia could also be working in reverse in regards to the one you are wary about voting with
Could you reword this? I think I know what you mean but I want to be sure.
Basically we know he likes to vote for his fellow mafia members so I'm thinking that he might also have them vote for him for distance. Assuming Potent is mafia of course. Hope this attempt was better

yeah, sorry. I reread it later. "Fellow" got autocorrect ed to "flow" in your first post. My bad for not putting that togeather.

Well, it's not me. I voted for LD because of his vote switch. I said it when I voted. Im not the only one who did. I think the key to this game is that weird ass move by Maddog. And one Maddog voter. I see you working though. You've been doing it since Day one. Only 4 players know anything about anyone's role from the beginning of the game. When players get so fixated on any other players so earlier, they are either trying to lead townies astray by distancing, set a townie up or are Inspector. It isn't a wise townie move and you know it. You bitch about ZIG doing it all of the time.

I don't know Danbob's role, but something to think about that I see when reading this is that it seems like you're suspicious of Danbob based on your suspicions of me, and you're suspicious of me based on my interactions regarding Maddog. So when it comes to Danbob you're quite far removed from the actual Mafia. Like if you want to be suspicious of me I get it, but even if Danbob is Mafia, looking at me isn't the best way to base your accusations. With each set of assumptions your links get shakier and shakier. And I know your assumption about me is wrong.

Sticks up for Jaz/casts extra shade on Potent:

So much wrong. My suspicion on Danbob is because he questioned why I wouldn't clear LD right before he was whacked and he seems sure Potent would mafia over you. As a townie, I could go either way on you guys, so it seems off to me. And him going at me for my vote switch...
