Are you sure? I can't help but notice that Potent took you out of the Day 1 runoff and put LD in. The same LD that you then voted for, the same LD who was then whacked. Also I knew as soon as Maddog basically outed himself that there would be at least one Mafia who would lead the charge against me. You're not exactly a "lead the charge" type of player; if anything you like to straddle the fence as much as possible. You have a way of very subtly being forceful in this game, and it's admirable. In your own LLL way though you seem to be gunning for me:
I think Potent and Carini are worth looking at because LD named them specifically. But Jaz is right that his move does look the most concerning, off of Maddog and on to Zolah. But I can't say that it isn't a move I've made as a townie, moving from an initial vote because I use voting partners.
I'm going to go with my initial thoughts from earlier today, but am going to look at Carini's posts closer tonight.
yeah, I don't fault you for seeing that as something that sticks out. I tend to make a lot of blanket statements that I assume people will take as generalities.
I think the rest of the round proves that.
I also mentioned that I understood your vote in round 3 could be just to get more info. I don't fault you for that. And it certainly seems s risky mafia move given the timing.
I would guess we had one mafia voting to save Maddog and maybe one laying back cause he was under fire moat of the round.
Maybe Potent vs LLL is better?
I'm fine being in a run-off. But I think trying to frame it as "saving Maddog" when I had to choose between one at-the-time-unknown player (Maddog), who already had more votes than another unknown player(Zolah) is a bit of an overstatement. Especially when you are directly addressing the guy who has a vote that literally makes it look like he was "saving Maddog"...
I'm having a lot of conflicting thoughts about my vote. Part of me wonders if LD was whacked not because of his talk about Potent, but because of his push on Maddog... Period. It also looks funny to me that Maddog and Jaz each opened up voting for each other, and each tossed me in at the end of runoffs. It doesn't help that neither of them feel like talking.
If he was Inspector, which is obviously what Mafia thought, it was Day 1 so he only had one name. Anything else from him was pure speculation and him trying to tie other players in with his one name. That's why I'm going with the player who has a more tangible tie to Maddog via voting. Jaz may very well be a townie who just made a move that ended up connecting him to our one known (or at least assumed) Mafia. But it is a move that I don't think we can ignore.
I still wonder if the third Mafia was on Maddog or was vocal about Maddog and he was further distancing with his shenanigans.
We can be pretty sure at least one surviving mafia voted LD on Day one.
Well, it's not me. I voted for LD because of his vote switch. I said it when I voted. Im not the only one who did. I think the key to this game is that weird ass move by Maddog. And one Maddog voter. I see you working though. You've been doing it since Day one. Only 4 players know anything about anyone's role from the beginning of the game. When players get so fixated on any other players so earlier, they are either trying to lead townies astray by distancing, set a townie up or are Inspector. It isn't a wise townie move and you know it. You bitch about ZIG doing it all of the time.
Now, this doesn't really mean much, everybody has their theories and it could just be my townie paranoia, but I noticed this as well:
I'm about to go run but I had a thought... Why did Maddog throw a little "aww man, so much for my reveal" tantrum? If he was town, he hurt the town. If he was mafia, I would think it would be better to go out quietly and let town stumble in every direction... I feel like it was on purpose... possibly for some mega distancing.
Yeah. This is one of the biggest WTFs ever. It provided us with direction that we don't usually get this early in the game. It seems like a Mafia move, but not a good one. It provided us with a name and direction, when we otherwise would have just thought he was like every other Day one lynch, and we all know they are almost always a townie. I understand that the round ended earlier than planned, but Tainted clearly told him he has a few minutes, and he posted within those minutes. If, on the off chance he was Inspector, why not come out? If he was going to fake, why didn't he just fake? Why give town so much direction like that? If he was a Townie, why misdirect his own team that much?
My assumption initially is that if Maddog was Mafia, his two partners were voting for you. Zolah - 4 (Carini, Maddog, Jaz, Potent, LLL) I realize that it puts suspicion on me as well, but it is what it is. But this is why I was thinking that Jaz's vote change and the mention of Potent and Carini by LD, who ended up being whacked, held the most meaning. I'm not going to let go of that line of thinking, because it makes the most sense to me. Potent especially, and then Carini and Jaz. Potent already had 2 votes on him this round, so I went with one of the other two.
But maybe it wasn't a complete f-up by Mafia to "give us direction". If it was a purposeful distancing, then we are maybe looking at the wrong group and should be looking for at least one in those distancing from Maddog, either through posts, or by voting for him. Maddog - 5 (Dan, SFA, Pablo, Zolah, LD, JR) Obviously not LD. I still find that the moves by Maddog and Zolah make it less likely it would be her, but not clearing anyone. And JR doesn't fall off of the suspicion list, but he does fall to the side of the spectrum. I had initial thoughts about the SFA and LD connection, with how strong they were on Maddog in the first Day, which is unusual for town or Inspector really. Obviously Mafia thought that LD said something else that made them more concerned about him than SFA. But we only have one Inspector, not two, so to have two people on Maddog so hard in the first day is noteworthy.
I don't know. That post included a lot of thoughts and was probably not very well organized. I guess every possibility should be entertained given how janky of a move it was by Maddog.
If I'm reading you correctly, you claim to be most suspicious of Potent, then Carini, then me. But after reading your posts (link for the lazy), they seem to me to be mostly saying that this is a tough choice and Potent and I could be townies, or you really harping on my vote switch (saying that it's the key to this game).
What sticks out to me though, and what I'm really getting at, is that if you're most suspicious of Potent, why is your vote still on me, and why have you been advocating against me harder than him? You've barely outlined anything against Potent at all, which doesn't really line up with your claim that this is a hard choice, etc etc. Most of your mentions of Potent have been asides germane to larger points about the game, whereas your mentions of me have been direct and in multitudes.

Just did a reread after pretty much talking myself into thinking Jaz and Potent are both town. Lets say LD wasn't the Inspector, I'm hoping that means we are on the right track here with who ended up in the run-off. Or at least aren't way off track, right? Am I right to think that may be the case? Especially after the last re-read. I'm just getting concerned now that someone slipped out, but I'm not sure how that happened unless we are on the right track here too.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I don't know Danbob's role, but something to think about that I see when reading this is that it seems like you're suspicious of Danbob based on your suspicions of me, and you're suspicious of me based on my interactions regarding Maddog. So when it comes to Danbob you're quite far removed from the actual Mafia. Like if you want to be suspicious of me I get it, but even if Danbob is Mafia, looking at me isn't the best way to base your accusations. With each set of assumptions your links get shakier and shakier. And I know your assumption about me is wrong.
So much wrong. My suspicion on Danbob is because he questioned why I wouldn't clear LD right before he was whacked and he seems sure Potent would mafia over you. As a townie, I could go either way on you guys, so it seems off to me. And him going at me for my vote switch...
Honey you mentioned Danbob defending me and his vote for Potent over me as being part of your reasons for suspecting him. That's literally in your own post.

Where is your consistency, LLL?
Jaz. I have considered switching my vote multiple times here. I'm not stuck on my vote with you still. I am trying to figure out what some other players are trying to say here. See my last post. Know what I mean?

Honey, this is a tough decision. So yes, I looked at everyone. Danbob reads funky to me. I'd rather not vote with him. Why are you defending him? I could still go to Potent, and making a case against LLL would be better for that than defending Danbob.

And I went with you because of a tangible vote change vs speculation by a possible Inspector who could have only had one name and I haven't fully talked myself out of that vote yet. That's all. I am not confident I am making the right vote here, and frankly, if we have a Mafia in here, I am going to be pissed at myself if I don't pick the right one.

Sugarbear I'm not defending him. My only point was that the further removed you get from people directly implicated by whacks etc, the more shaky your links are. I didn't say that was the only reason you were talking about Danbob, but it was part of it.

I understand what you're saying, muffin. But for a vote that I could literally use a coin toss on, I had to look into things and at least try. I'm still not set on my vote.
D2R1 Vote History Jaz > SFA Zolah > Potent Carini > Potent LLL > Jaz SFA > Jaz Jaz > SFA > LLL Pablo > Dan JR > Pablo Dan > Pablo JR > Pablo > Carini Potent > SFA Potent > SFA > Carini

Jaz. Lets say you are town, do you think that Potent is more than likely Mafia at this point, or that he is town also?
Maizy. You are pretty much the most "cleared" player here in my eyes. You currently have a vote on Jaz. When I vote, one of the things I look at is who I am voting with. I don't feel comfortable with at least one player who voted after me. But I also don't feel comfortable voting with at least 2 players on Potent.
However, Jaz is one to get more diplomatic like this when he is a townie. No offense to you Jaz. But Mafia Jaz is more surly when he ends up in a run-off. A few other players are like that too, and it makes it easier to feel confident voting for them.
If I switch now, I am going to be accused of trying to save Jaz. I can already see that coming.

And Jaz , for what it's worth, I did have some suspicions on LLL as well. Part of me voting for you was to see if she'd jump ship to Potent for some reason during her next re-read she was doing. But Potent went and voted for himself and disappeared and fucked anything up that could have been. Maybe we should just kill one of you today and the other tomorrow and be done with it. I'm kidding. But I sure as hell hope the inspector is alive with some juicy info. I do feel like there will be a conveniently formed fake in this game too based on how Maddog went out.

If I switch to Potent it will be because I think Jaz is town 100%. Not sure if you are implying that you think Jaz is Mafia and wanted to see if I would save him. I am well aware that it will look that way if I move. I'm not dumb. I will become the next townie targeted. That is why I have stayed, but let my feelings be known that I don't know if I am making the right move. I would rather stay put than draw attention to myself, but I also don't want to be a part of townies losing the game if we are fucking this run-off up. And I hope that if Inspector is alive, they have guided us here and aren't just letting us shit our pants.

I understand what you're saying. To me, when I was questioning Jaz and Potent, you seemed to defend Jaz while your vote was on him. I can see it as town feeling like he was being ganged up on, or mafia, setting up your potential vote switch. I just had to weigh all options.
Mafia is laughing their asses off right now if they are both town.
If he is, this will be the stupidest game ever. Mafia outing themselves like a dumbass when they didn't have to and Mafia or Town voting for themselves. What a fucking clusterfuck of a game.

Honestly, this game feels like one where Mafia is sitting back laughing while a few of us run around in circles and they coast.

I thought that too. And I felt like one of the people who was sitting back before all this was you. You're definitely not the only one though... A few are still hanging back.

I think that Potent is the one the whack points to the most, and this - coupled with the fact that he was voting for Zolah at the end of D1 - makes him most likely to be Mafia in my eyes. There is a slight difference in wording here: so far I don't consider any one person to be more than likely Mafia (which is what you asked), but I do consider Potent to be the one most likely to be Mafia. You and Carini are also suspects to me based on D1 ending votes. JR and Zolah I think are more than likely town.
And you're right, I do get more surly when I'm Mafia. Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to remember that next time I'm scum.

You were voting for me at the end of D1 too. And you switched to me from Maddog (mafia), letting him almost escape the runoff had I not moved my vote.

I know, that rationale is completely justified and I've stated as such multiple times. That's why I'm not even mad that I'm in this runoff - it's sound reasoning and I'm not going to pretend it's not. But I know I'm town - I'm not suspicious of myself. That doesn't mean I'm not going to be suspicious of the other people who voted for you instead of Maddog.

I appreciate you having input. And like I said, I am not set on my vote.
JR told me to post this about why he's been MIA all day. We replaced our 50" tv with a 65" tv. After a trip to Best Buy and 2 trips to Lowe's and an afternoon of "fun"... It's up. (Of the 4 bolt holes to mount the tv, the bottom ones needed different length bolts than the top, which is why a 2nd trip to Lowe's was needed. How dumb).
Now he's outside playing basketball with our son. Going to join them. Peace.
How am I fixated on anyone? I've actually held back mapping out possible vote splits and on my typical "numbers game" talk, etc. Specifically because I was afraid it would lead the town to tunnel vision.
But I do think the odds are the mafia split their vote in round 1. I've already said that. All I did here is reply to you saying maybe Potent and Jaz are both innocent by pointing out the obvious. I didn't even say that i necessary thought it was true, just that it would be so by extension of your comment.
Besides that I'be pointed out another thing that seems generally excepted that most of the LD players will be whacked. Leaving just a few to choose from.
If i've been forceful of anything this round it has been in presuit of trying to keep the town from going down any rabbit holes. Because if the inspector is in fact dead than we can't afford to get off track.

That should be "Maddog voters." Specificallt, Zolah, and JR. Maybe me too.
If LD was inspector (and I doubt it) this game is FUBAR. We really need some solid info. Because I'm reading like... "Person A is attacking Person B, but screw Person A, because s/he's probably mafia, but Person B is attacking Person C, so screw Person B, because s/he's probably mafia." "Person C is attacking Person D, but screw Person C, because s/he's probably mafia, but Person D is attacking Person A, so screw Person D, because s/he's probably mafia." ^ Silly example, don't read too deeply.
This is a bit off the cuff, but my current thoughts:
LLL is most suspicious to me right now, because I feel like she might be doing the "I'm mafia, but I need to look like town". Something is just reminding me of playing mafia with her recently. However, she could be 'trying' to look town because she's town.
Danbob is a little shady to me, because I thought he was a tad off, but I didn't want to go all "DANBOB IS MAFIA!" all over again like last game (when I was right, ) Then Zolah brought up a case against him and I realized it wasn't just me.
SFA was questionable to me for a long time because his posts could have been fluff. He's leaning town now, based on his thoughtful commentary.
Jaz and Potent are both close to 50/50 to me right now, but Potent's self vote is striking a chord with me over Jaz making an attempt to contribute today.
Here's the picture Zolah tried to share earlier. This was an interesting project, old stripped screws and making sure the devices were hiding behind the TV and not sitting on the mantle (there's a Nintendo Switch, a Kindle Firestick and a lot of cables back there).

Seriously. After having been Mafia with me, do you really think I would have gone for Maddog doing what he did? That was about the stupidest Mafia move I have ever seen. It is so stupid, I can't help but think it was maybe genius. Or it was just fucking stupid. Sorry. I've been drinking a little tonight. I'm not calling you a dummie, Maddog. Maybe you really guys really do have some master plan.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I've been mafia and had a slow motion "NOOO!" in my head. Whatever Maddog did doesn't necessarily reflect on his compadres.
