So was this essentially FPSF re-branded with the layout and all? Obviously not ground a ground breaking fest but I enjoyed it. I really dig the hill at the mianstage at its proximity to downtown making Lyft's pretty cheap.

yeah the hill has always been a fixture for main stage. I think at some point they had the hill facing the stage head on, but they moved it to what it is now for '14 i think (I remember watching Jack on the hill from the side).
much much better than recently with the re brand and move up, hopefully now that people aren't going to be worried about it raining out or being 100+ degrees they can get back to that 13'-16' booking level. This years was pretty solid, but real top heavy.

It was solid enough of a line up to warrant the drive. I couldn't imagine dealing with 100+ weather though. F that. It was mid 80s and I felt pretty torched by 4pm.

I have no idea whether that's true.
Buku is Goldenvoice. So it sounds like bullshit. They have Voodoo and ACL nearby but why would they intentionally tank another shot to make money? Both of those are highly profitable.

Sorry. I confounded two comments. The one I was thinking of said ACL.
Even still, the reddit poster has to be full of shit. No way In Bloom is taking away anything from ACL. No way it's taking anything from Voodoo. LN and its subsidiaries make money anywhere they can find it. If they could co-opt the 4th largest city in America's tickets, venues and even put on a festival, they're going to do it. I'm sure they'll be back with something in Houston soon enough. I really want something independent back like Day for Night. But I'd be happy to make the relatively short 300 mile run to go to a corporate owned festival if it was good.

Houston just kinda sucks as a music town, unfortunately. Particularly now that two great festivals have shuttered. (FPSF was truly great for a two-day city festival for a few years). Texas overall really had it going festival-wise like three years ago, but now it's back to ACL, SXSW, rodeos, and fucking kaboo.
