Rhye has a big show at The Orpheum next week. Not sure if it matters, but it's a Goldenvoice show fwiw. Tickets were pricey last I looked.
Four Tet is doing 4 sold out nights at Hollywood Forever the same week. I waited too long to jump on those. Ended up settling for Vitalic.
Rhye tickets were nuts. My girlfriend got them for me as a gift around the holidays when they went on sale, maybe $45 each. They were going for $122.50 on StubHub the day before after all fees. They should have just done more shows or something.

Out of the bands at Capitol Hill Block Party Yaeji, Brockhampton and Alvvays seem very likely to crossover. They are playing Coachella this year so I think there is a strong possibility they will be at FYF. Father John Misty is out with his big Hollywood Bowl show the month before

Brockhampton, Yaeji and Alvvays would be a good start.
Jon Hopkins I have a hunch will be there. He is available after the first two days of August up until the end of August. Also has a late July week open.

he makes too much sense in either the Fly Lo spot or the Talaboman spot

Preferably where Talaboman played but seriously he seems like a shoe-in as one of the "Play FYF then Play Coachella the next year" acts.
Aphex Twin | Gorillaz | Arcade Fire MBV | Travis Scott | Sade
By day
MBV and Sade - Would headline (I like the Sade suggestion!) Travis Scott - would not play this festival Aphex Twin - don't really see them giving him a headlining performance, so don't think he'd play this fest
I can see something like this:
Friday: The National / Janelle Monae Saturday: Arctic Monkeys / Black Star Sunday: Sade / Grimes

Rae Sremmurd was billed like 6th or 7th on their day and still a pretty big buzz act when they played a couple years ago. Travis Scott would have to headline now and I highly doubt they'd give him a headlining spot given the target audience of this festival. Plus, you'd imagine he'd be a better fit for Flog Gnaw over this.
Arctic Monkeys play LA in May in what almost looks like a warm-up show and kick-off their remaining U.S. dates Tuesday after FYF in NYC. Wonder if they are in play for this.
Migos is playing primavera sound. Travis could easily play this.
There's too many other mainstream festivals in SoCal (Hard Summer, Flog Gnaw, Rolling Loud, etc.) that would pay for Travis to be a headliner that it wouldn't make sense for FYF to pay him a headliner fee when he would make like 10% of the attendees happy. It has less to do with "mainstream acts can't play prestige fests" and more to do with it just wouldn't make sense for either party. I guess it could happen, but I highly doubt it.
