On the fence. Will probably end up with a single day for MBV but definitely feels like a good lineup that just isn't for me. Janet, Florence, Future don't move the needle for me much and St. Vincent and the XX I've seen plenty of times. Undercard has a lot of acts that seems interesting but nothing I'm dying over.
Flipped over to the 2014 lineup and almost shed a tear, damn what a lineup.

Assuming those stacks are broken up by days. A Sunday of Florence, The xx, MBV, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Mount Kimbie, Yaeji, and Glassjaw sounds pretty good. That Saturday is weak as hell.
Is it a 2 day due to last year just not selling enough to support that or maybe due to the shake up from that owner or talent buyer being let go? I forget the exact details.

It might also be due to the construction at the coliseum. I think that's why the lineup seems light. I don't think they're going to have as much space as they have had the past couple years.

I think it's a combination of last year being a perfect storm for 3 days and then the fallout from the sexual harassment scandal.
They mentioned something about how they really wanted NIN, Frank, Bjork, or Missy last year and set out to get 2 of the 4, and when it would work for all 4, they knew they had to expand to 3 days. Then I'd imagine some acts who could have made this work were a little hesitant to play with the news about Sean. Then add in that the site has a ton of construction going on in building the new soccer stadium right in between two of the stages, maybe they were able to get them to stop for 2 days but not 3. Probably a lot of stuff added up for it to go down to two but don't think ticket sales were one of them - it was crowded every day last year and I think 3 day GAs and Saturday singles sold out.
janet, future, and florence don't really move the needle much for me. but there is a lot lower down that i'd be into: charlotte gainsbourg, car seat headrest, lucy dacus, protomartyr, curtis harding, stephen malkmus, nils frahm, roman flugel, unknown mortal orchestra, us girls, yaeji.
it may come down to this or desert daze for me, and if desert daze gets MBV that's a no brainer for me, particularly with ticket prices being about the same and Desert Daze having an extra day.
They are what they are as a band. Talent level is high, and the shows sound great and are very well produced. Maybe the highlight is almost always going to be Jamie going off during a mixing solo. I saw the tour last year and watched another 2-3 streams, and while sedate for sure, I thought it was pretty good. It wouldn’t have made top 50 of 2017, but like we both said, they don’t suck. And that counts for something if the mood or timing is right. For my money, in somewhat of a comparison, I’d always prefer M83 if I’m going down the dream/synth path at a given time. But I was glad to finally see The xx and felt like they represented what they were without being overly boring. And not great but still good in my opinion.
