This shuttle info has been super helpful. I probably would have ended up asking similar questions in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping with W2 possibly having a smaller attendance, maybe that'll help the logistics of everything. I'll be getting on and off at the Albertsons' stop in Palm Desert and I'm thinking if I want to catch a set at say 2:00, I'll probably have to be at that stop at 1:00. Is that a fair estimate?
If it’s one of the 4 trips that go totally smoothly, that should be just enough time. You have to go through security twice when you arrive, once entering the campground, and then again entering the fest. That plus the walking can be 20-30 minutes even when everything goes smoothly.

Not sure if they changed it from previous years, but last year I didn't have to go through the campgrounds after getting dropped off by the Shuttle. The yellow path ran adjacent to the campgrounds with a fence separating the campgrounds and we only had to go through security once.

Good to know. Plan for an hour and a half then.
Yeah, if missing that 2 o’clock show would break your heart, 90 minutes. If it’s just a “would be nice to see” then 60 would be fine.
First day shuttle always leave half an hour early then you think you should. So if you want to see a 2 PM set, leave 12:15-12:30 PM. You can drink on the bus and "worst case scenario" you're at one of the biggest music fesitvals in the world 30 minutes earlier.
My "problem shuttle run" was always first day, either going to the fest or coming back. Missed a couple Friday afternoon sets I really wanted to see just not budgeting time properly.
I've taken the shuttle the last few years and never had to go through camping security. I'll echo those who say the Friday night of W1 is the most disorganized. If you stay through the headliner, the lines are longest that night. But if you leave a little early, even Friday night isn't that bad. One year we had a driver who didn't know the route he was supposed to drive and people were shouting out directions from Google Maps. But mostly the shuttle runs fairly smoothly and is much preferable to driving. They take a different route in than cars are allowed to so they bypass a lot of the traffic, and the walk in and out is shorter than parking for sure. You can get shuttle passes dirt cheap on Stubhub, too.

Never had problems leaving at night, but we always leave a bit early. I've had one or even two out of three days to the fest take forever, so my opinion is a bit sullied. We're still using the shuttles this year.

This definitely won't apply to everyone, but if you're looking to take the journey to and from the Polo grounds into your own hands, I recommend biking to the fest from the Tennis Center. It's a great way to beat some of the traffic (especially at night), plus you can bike through the camp grounds and skip that 20-30 minute walk from your car. Again, not a choice for everyone, but if you dread traffic like I do, it's a semi-decent alternative.

Anyone have some recommendations for lower line acts that lean more pop and r&b for my group? For context the group is seeing acts like Clairo, Christine, King Princess, Blood Orange, Tierra Whack, Soulection, Kacey, H.E.R...

What's you guys' take on Rufus Du Sol? I saw them for free a few years ago and didn't care for it so I've ignored them since. I just listened to their song Innerbloom and actually liked it a lot. I pegged them as this year's Odesza/Porteon, am I off on that and should I give them a chance?
FWIW I love Rufus du Sol and do not enjoy Odesza or Porteon, although I would also imagine there's quite a bit of fanbase overlap. I love their songs Underwater and No Place from their recent release. They're a must see for me. They give me a bit of Cut Copy 2.0 vibes.
I've only ever gone weekend 2 and have always driven to the fest around 2pm and was able to easily get parking every time. This year I'm doing weekend 1 for the first time and am expecting parking to be a lot worse.
I never understand the yearly hyped up electronic act. Porteon was cheesy af, Odesza was a waste of a hour last year, and Rufus won’t be anything special this year.

Rufus was good the last time they played and by all accounts they've gotten better.
They fall a little into the "bland" category for me personally but if there is nothing better on at that time I'd go, I am sure the crowd will be great.

They all make dance music for people who can’t dance.
