I never understand the yearly hyped up electronic act. Porteon was cheesy af, Odesza was a waste of a hour last year, and Rufus won’t be anything special this year.
They all make dance music for people who can’t dance.

Honestly I enjoyed Rufus' show on the Innerbloom tour more.
Just like Odesza, and Porteon, and Porter, and Flume, and Disclosure, and now maybe Gesaf, Rufus makes decent music that is enjoyable live but not "special." I thought like 70% of their setlist on the Solace tour was fun, 30% put me to sleep.
It'll be a relatively fun show. Not going to skip something important for them, but will attend if I can.
P.S. in before everyone starts hating, Settle was special as hell.

I'm all over the place with the reddit-hyped electronic acts. I don't get Porteon at all; I love the hell out of ODESZA; I think Rufus is pretty boring but inoffensive. I'll see them if there's no conflict, but that's going to be a busy night as it is, so who knows.
Rufus doesn't belong in Porter/Odesza talk. Their latest album wasn't as solid as their earlier work, but the older stuff is very good imo. They ruled at Panorama.

IDK if you put on Rufus radio on Spotify both Porter and Odesza will show up pretty damn quick. I absolutely categorize them the same, even if Rufus is "better" to some people.

I always had them more lumped in with Marcus Marr, Hayden James, Moon Boots, Flight Facilities, Bondax, Amtrac, etc.
I can see how they might have some fan crossover, but they are different stylistically.
What's you guys' take on Rufus Du Sol? I saw them for free a few years ago and didn't care for it so I've ignored them since. I just listened to their song Innerbloom and actually liked it a lot. I pegged them as this year's Odesza/Porteon, am I off on that and should I give them a chance?

According to the food lineup, the Indio Central Market is moving “north of the Sonora.” I’m hoping that means the Gobi will be closer to the Mohave again.

I've watched that video no less than 100 times. Favorite song by them. I'm not gonna pretend like they're some revolutionary electronic act but they're a guilty pleasure of mine and I haven't been able to catch them previously. They'll be at Lolla too but they're probably going to headline Perry's so chances are I won't see them there.

Oh wow. Sounds like they wont be moving the Sonora then.

With Heineken moving and getting a new structure and Do Lab getting a new structure, there is a hell of a lot of movement going on. I don’t get keeping the Sonora further away from others stages, but the Gobi and Mojave being close again would be a giant plus.

I wish they would have switched the Sonora with the Antarctic tent.

Seems liker there are a few moves they could have made to make it easier and get people in there, but with them keeping it there, maybe they are going for the empty dive bar feel it gives off with it's small crowds. Put a Yuma esque bar over there and I'm all for it.
I guess putting the Market next to the Sonora would generate traffic to the stage. Still think the Sonora would have fit perfectly where the HP tent was, next to the Mojave.
Man. PUP, La Dispute, Mike Krol, Laura Stevenson, etc. just lacing genre defining albums around March/April timeframe and there was no room for any of them?
I love Turnstile and Hop Along and think Shame is alright and they would be threeof my top 5 shows if I was going, but they're ALL a year late. Just wonder why they don't give the same edginess to rock that they do to electronic/pop.

The crowds at these types of sets are so small, they probably don’t put an emphasis on getting a lot of these groups for their album releases.
