“I cancelled my tour because my ticket sales were abissmal and I’d like to headline Coachella please”
I would hope her team has a little firmer grasp of reality than that. Artists with sales numbers like that can’t headline major fests. I don’t know how you recover from something like this, but I think she’s in a “I’ll play anywhere and I’ll do it for Cardi B money” type situation
Honestly shocked at the poor ticket sales.. Especially coupled with Future. I guess there could be a bit of fatigue with Future, though..
Plus on her last tour three years ago she played sheds and they seem to have sold pretty well. I think it's just that the bad press surrounding her this album cycle has finally caught up.

Haven't listened to "Queen", but Travis Scott's new album is actually really good. I listened to it several times last week. Not every track is a winner. The song with The Weeknd made me realize I can't take The Weeknd seriously anymore, but generally the songs are interesting and surprisingly progressive. Although they lean heavily on that "change beats in the middle of the song" thing, it still results in some catchy tunes.
FWIW the only Travis Scott song I've cared for before this was "Pick Up The Phone".
realizing now i might have already posted impressions in another thread, but I can't remember. apologies if i'm repeating myself.

I read a comparison somewhere that Nicki is basically this decade’s Ludacris, which I think makes a lot of sense. Some killer features, couple of great tracks, but a lot of her stuff has glaring flaws and overall best enjoyed in smaller doses.

Nicki's albums have never been good. She's good with singles, features and all but much like 2010's Lady Gaga, her career is mainly based on the excentric persona she is and now that a second kinda similar woman is coming up she feels the need to prove herself to the world that she's still got it. Found it kinda cringey aswell that she blamed Spotify and all for not reaching that #1. Felt like the sole reason she put that album out lol.

Queen was actually solid as hell and her best album to date, imo. She sold 100K+ first week! That's really good! I don't know why she felt the need to self-sabotage over the weekend. If she wanted better sales, she should've picked better singles in the runup to album release and had her designers design better merch to bundle
Anyway, I'm continuing my Drop JT campaign - replace him with Ariana
Ariana Grande hasn't released a full tour supporting Sweetener, right?
That album has got a really good reception (8.1 Pitchfork, 79 metacritic), going to have great sales, top 10 Spotify listens right now, hits, etc.
If they're going for a female pop headliner this year, it might be her given no on Adele, Rihanna notoriously takes super long between projects, and Nicki Minaj going kind of nuts.

Not yet but I think she's gearing up to tour near the end of the year into 2019. She has her Sweetener Sessions this week, so maybe announcing next week?
Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding, Sia, and Lorde have all subbed or headlined in the last three years and that's without getting into Beyonce, SZA, etc.
You can maintain an outdated version of reality, or accept one in which its possible AG can headline.
It's a bit naive to compare AG to Lady Gaga or Beyonce. She can subheadline this but NOT headline. I think that's the reality. Pretty sure it's not outdated.

Queen was SOLID? More like boring, too long, and annoying. She sold less than last time and less than Cardi did. Even when she tried to cheat by adding FEFE (not even her damn song, and it doesn't even fit sonically) to the album.
Not even sure if she can sub now with the album flop and PR meltdown

It's not naive to compare AG to Gaga or Bey. Premature, maybe, but not naive. She's well on her way to reaching that tier of stardom, especially now with Sweetener under her belt. With her voice she's gonna have pop on lock for the next 10, 15 years and the way Coachella has been leaning in recent years it's probably only a matter of when, and she won't be doing it as a sub

Flipping Biggie on "Barbie Dreamz," "Chun Swae," "Good Form," "Nip Tuck," "Coco Chanel," there's a lot of fun shit on the album to me. Never listened to "FEFE" on account of 6ix9ine but I agree with you it was a lame last minute ploy to try and grab the #1 spot. I don't hold selling less than Cardi against her; Cardi had insane buildup with "Bodak" "Bartier" "Be Careful" and her SNL spot. Anticipation and expectation for Invasion of Privacy were high as shit and the fact the album was pure fire felt like a nice "fuck you" cherry on top to everyone giving her the one-hit wonder bullshit

Just gonna dispute this. Outside of MJ and Beyoncé is there a single pop artist who's had the genre "on lock" for that length of time?

I don’t know what “on lock” means necessarily, but Rihanna has been a huge player in the game for over 10 years, Justin Timberlake is about to headline Coachella 17 years after his first solo album (not counting when he was heavy weight champ of boy bands), Mariah Carey had 10-15 good years, as did Janet Jackson

Yeah, if I had to place a bet on a headliner next year, she probably wouldn't be in my top 3-5, but I can see a real argument for it. Giving someone with massive potential their first huge headlining gig in advance of securing future AEG stadium tours, while she also is the rave of the hip blogs and taste maker critics right now, has to be pretty tempting if a third headliner isn't locked down.
It makes a lot more sense to me then, say, booking Florence after a so-so album and a huge shed tour with two LA dates that aren't selling well.

There is nothing redeemable about Nicki Minaj she is a flat out terrible artist. I find it weird that people in here are tryna argue somewhat in her favor. Lets just all agree on the fact that shes terrible and wont even play.

Hell, when Madonna played in 2006 she'd had more than 20 years of success.
