Is it so hard to imagine that Chance would release a new album in 2019?
No, but that's a big unknown variable. Gambino has more hype right now, not to mention how he's apparently ending the project soon.
But right now is right now, not April 2019. By then Gambino will have presumably dropped his new music and done as big a tour as he’s done in years (produced by Live Nation). Meanwhile Chance is due for a new album and so far basically taking the year off from the road for the first time in his career.
It’s certainly possible Coachella gives Gambino a victory lap. And if he really does retire the Gambino project (not counting on it), having weekend 2 be his last show ever would be a good get for them. I just think Chance coming back with a new album and kicking off a tour at Coachella is much more likely.

Now let’s get into a real discussion.....Who is closing Yuma each night?
Against All Logic? Gui Boratto?
I doubt Vynehall closes, but he probably plays.
Just hope they book Kiasmos and Koze and Daniel Avery and Mall Grab and Polo & Pan and Ross From Friends and Detroit Swindle, Martyn and Lone and Hot Chip and/or Joe Goddard and Perel and Glenn Astro and John Tejada and Dabrye and Kink and Photay and Rival Consoles and so on.
Also have GusGus, The Presets, Modeselektor, and Nils Frahm close tents.

A.A.L. closing Yuma could make sense. Need some more Nico at my desert dance party.

I'm guessing Gambino's current, upcoming tour is as extensive as it gets. As silver06 pointed out, Coachella usually has one "late" headliner each year, so Gambino fits the bill perfectly for that spot.

Yes to DJ Koze, Detroit Swindle, John Tejada in the Yuma. I could see KiNK, Photay and/or Rival Consoles in Mojave or Gobi. Nils Frahm better be there, dammit.

If DJ Koze doesn't make the lineup I'll lose my mind. I have him as a lock already simply because it would be ridiculous if he wasn't there following Knock Knock.

It would still be infinitely more entertaining than a full Chance set.
Not a Chance fan at all, but his live shows are highly entertaining.
I’ve seen him twice. Many years ago and then at a Life is Beautiful last year. Acid Rap was his best stuff imo. I’d rather listen to Kanye rant for 15 min of a set (which he didn’t actually do when I saw him at FYF) than have Jesus shoveled down my throat for 15 min by Chance. To each their own I suppose.

It makes sense that they would feature his new show at one point. Those lucky enough to catch him at DFN know that the show is meant for a big stage. Seemed like he would be all over after that. I would love for him to take over the Sahara like 2manydjs and Underworld, personally.
Edit - though his presence on the main would be wicked

He has his own setup, right? Wouldn’t JMJ skit on outdoor make more sense?

I would imagine they sold him on the Outdoor like Jean Michel Jarre and he would play like 9:50-11:00 PM before the headliner goes on main.
Can't imagine he goes on main after 9 PM, which he would need to be.

Yeah he has his own setup, but the Sahara would only elevate that experience if they tied in his visuals with their screens. I could just see them giving him the full treatment.
Will take Aphex, but I wonder if this rules out other legends like Chem Bros or Massive Attack? I would prefer the latter having already seen him recently. Will gladly take a do over if it comes down to it though.
