I saw Chance in 2014 at the now defunct Big Guava Festival in Tampa, and I thought he and his band were great back then. I did cringe when he said "I think this is the best show I've ever played" after failing to get the half-full crowd to sing along to random choruses, though.

Not directly Coachella related, but an interesting article in Rolling Stone today about all the money being invested from the labels into Soundcloud rappers in pursuit of the next big thing in hip hop.
As is obvious, the labels, managers, agents, and everyone else are pounding down GV and LiveNation's tours to get into festivals, so get ready for a lot of dudes with names like Juice WRLD being on the lineup again next year.

Sade’s headliner viability is tough to gauge. Her last tour numbers in LA combined with the rarity and exclusivity of seeing her live suggest she’d headline though the unfamiliarity with some of the audience works against her. Sorta like how Iron Maiden is big enough too but you could question if it would work. Then again, these same guys booked The Stone Roses/Blur too which IMO had an even more questionable draw, even for 2013.
I’d say sub at the lowest, headline at best, coheadline w/ Gambino or headline FYF as compromise.

John Hopkins new show is pretty great. I would consider him a lock for one of the bigger named electronic artists.
I fucking hope so. What did he play from Immunity?
He did Collider and Open Eye Signal. Neon Pattern Drum and Everythig Connected went hard. It’s a sweet, short set that would fill 50 min perfectly. I think he closes a tent.

George Fitzgerald’s new live show was kind of boring. I was veeeery impressed with Project Pablo and Siriusmo. I had never heard much out of Nastia before but she probably ended up being my favorite set of the festival. She’s a beast.
