As long as you can withstand the elements go until you can’t. My mother, who will be 70 at this Bonnaroo, has come with me the past 8yrs and she loves it. Age is just a number.
I used to say that I'd go to festivals for as long as I possibly can. But now that I'm 11 years (arguably more if we count day fests) into my festival career, I've found that people just annoy me. The crowds at most festivals just aren't worth dealing with for the same bands I've seen 5 times. Things that used to not bother me as much (mainly the talkers and the pushers/plowers) annoy the shit out of me so much now that it makes a lot of crowds just not enjoyable. I feel like this has been my first big sign that I'm just getting old. So, with all that, I'm really jealous of you guys who are 50+ and still able to deal with the crowds at big festivals.
I still go to festivals whose lineups pique my interest, lots of my friends are going to, or just a major festival that I haven't attended yet, but I've found that festivals have sort of lost the overall allure they once had on me. I don't know if its the quality of line ups, the way today's 20 year olds are, or if I'm just old and crabby...

Preach. I'm 22 but I felt old and crabby at Buku. Idk if it was me or the crowds. But I can't stand people pushing to the front for one song in the middle of the set and then leaving.
I think I'm actually kind of turned off with festivals for a little while. I wanna hit up D4N really bad though, and I'm sure I'll be back to bonnaroo dependent on the lineup.

I think that's more of today's culture. When I first started going, the vibe was much different than it's been in the past two to three years. People are WAY more pushy and rude IMO.

At close to 40 myself and i still enjoy festivals and do not see myself stopping any time soon. If i want to go i go. Roo’s lineup has gotten less appealing but its close by for me and still a good time. I have been enjoying smaller fest more as i get older like day for night, desert daze, and lightning in a bottle.
I'll be turning 37 on the farm this year, and have celebrated many birthdays on the farm as this is my 10th year in a row and 12th overall. I only live about 20 minutes from the farm, so this is my adult vacation every year. I don't really go to any other live shows because most are in Nashville, which is an 80 mile drive and hotels are ridiculous now, plus having 2 kids I would have to line up a sitter all the time. Sure, I've enjoyed other past lineups better (Stevie Wonder into Jay-Z is the best I've seen, and sunrise with Pretty Lights was a close 2nd), but I can still find good music to fill out and enjoy a 4-day weekend. Plus, the schedule this year is perfect for me, as I don't have any conflicts and not really any downtime either...
Im 34 and keep trying to go back. Every year the interest is there and im sure it'll be there for a long time. Maybe it will always be. Kids throw wrenches at my plans though

At 55 yrs young, this will be my 5th Roo in 5 straight years. We decided to start going when missed seeing Paul McCartney (a Beatle) less than two hours from the house. It also helps that our kids introduced us to EDM...some of our favorite music now. Our group at Roo this year is 11 people strong ranging from 24 to 56 yrs old. It is the best 4 days of the year!! We do go VIP / RV which helps. The best thing about Roo is finding the act you did not know before.
Some of our favorite shows over past 5 years include: Saint Paul and the Broken Bones - This was our 1st show the first year we went. An excellent start. We will travel these days to see them in concert. STS9, Bassnectar, Zedd, Skrillex (and at Kalliope), Cherub (Kalliope this year??), GRIZ, Moon Taxi, Capital Cities, Borgore (last year..uber fun Sunday show), 3rd Eye Blind, Two Door Cinema Club, Ellie, SuperJam, RHCP, U2, Elton, Billy...This list is large!!
Age is just a number...if you are able and enjoy festivals...we will see you at Roo! Come see us - Look for a mix of 20's, 50's with a couple of 40's - late afternoon at the beer garden!
If you don't go, you will miss out! ............................................

But you really shouldn't bring infants or toddlers to Bonnaroo. It's too much.
You gotta know your toddler, though. I've taken mine twice. When he was 1.5 he slept a lot but watched a bunch of music and was disappointed when it was time to go home. When he was 2.5 he was super into the bands and didn't want to leave at the end of Deap Vally's set, so he got to meet them when they were tearing down. We're trying again this year at 3.5. But yes, results would probably be different for most toddlers.

I'm not gonna rehash this age old argument. I'm happy for you that it has worked out for your family.
