Arena/stadium shows will not happen until 2021, for sure. But I'm staying optimistic that maybe smaller venues (2,000 max) open up by the fall.
It's already been 4 months since my last show and I'm having withdrawals, I can't make it another 12 months!
As much as I'm holding out hope, this seems highly unlikely in NYC. Maybe <500, but I'm not planning on BK Steel, Terminal 5, Radio City, etc to re-open in 2020.
Did anyone get a refund for Despacio? I've sent them multiple e-mails and nothing
Hey, so, I was in the same boat, and sent an e-mail to Eventbrite about it. They sent me a link where I could file for a refund with them. You just need the Order ID from your original ticket order.
I don't know if it'll pan out, as I just submitted with them today. But, given that I, too, have had no response from the Knockdown Center, I figured this was the next best bet.

My take is NYC will come back first. If 23% of people in NYC really already have the virus, that city is way closer to herd immunity than anyother city

We don't know how immunity works with COVID-19, yet, or even if it happens at all, so I'd caution against assuming exposure = the kind of herd immunity we need to reopen, and especially the level we'd need to make large gatherings viable.

thanks for this, went ahead and submitted
FWIW, I got a message from Eventbrite that they were processing my refund and that I should receive it within 7 business days.

Since it looks like we're all gonna be out of action for a while in the city, what "special NYC" shows has everyone been lucky enough to attend? I'll define "Special NYC" show as a show not on a proper tour, usually promotional around an album release and in a smaller venue than usual. A few examples of stuff I've been to include:
Linkin Park @ Best Buy Theater in 2010 (Promo show for Minutes To Midnight) Panic At The Disco @ Bowery Ballroom in 2011 Florence & The Machine @ iHeartRadio theater in 2015 Maroon 5 @ Bowery Ballroom in May 2007 (around release of their second album) Green Day @ Bowery Ballroom & Webster Hall back to back in 2009(21st Century Breakdown release shows) My Chemical Romance @ Webster Hall in 2006 (Black Parade release show) Foo Fighters in Ed Sullivan Theater for Live On Letterman taping (Wasting Light release show) Foo Fighters @ Irving Plaza in 2007 (promotional show for Echoes Silence Patience & Grace) Jack White @ Warsaw in 2018 Blink 182 @ Music Hall Of Williamsburg in 2013 Black Keys @ Webster Hall in 2011
Probably a ton more but I'll have to go through the archives.
Hmm, probably need to wrack my brain more, but a few that come to mind:
U2 - Empire Fulton Ferry Park (under the Brooklyn Bridge), November 2004 (promo for How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb) Arcade Fire - warehouse at 299 Meserole St, October 2013 (promo for Reflektor) Blur - Music Hall of Williamsburg, May 2015 (Steve Madden free series, promo for The Magic Whip) Radiohead - Roseland Ballroom, September 2011 (promo for The King of Limbs) James - Rough Trade, October 2014 (CMJ event) Smashing Pumpkins, iHeart Radio Theater, June 2012 (promo for Oceania) Muse - Webster Hall, May 2015 (promo for Drones) The Killers - Loews Paradise Theatre (Grand Concourse in The Bronx), September 2012 (AMEX Unstaged, promo for Battle Born)
I've done a bunch more "special" U2 but I won't bore you with those, hehe. The reason why I would love to see The Killers do Forest Hills or somewhere else in Queens is that I've seen them in Staten Island and The Bronx (how many big bands can you say that for) in addition to Manhattan and Brooklyn, so if they play Queens I can say I've seen them in all five boroughs.

I'll have to really sit down and think about it, but off the top of my head my special nyc shows have been:
Blink 182 @ Irving Plaza in 2003 (MTV's Dollar Bill Tour) K-Rocks Claus Fest @ Hammerstein Ballroom in 2003 (it was Linkin Park and Blink 182 headlining) Blink 182 @ Music Hall of Williamsburg in 2013 Damien Rice @ Warsaw in 2014 Lady Gaga @ Roseland Ballroom in 2014 (last show before Roseland closed down) Blur @ Music Hall of Williamsburg in 2015 Kendrick Lamar @ Terminal 5 in 2015 Weezer @ Warsaw in 2016
I know I'm forgetting a few more big ones, though, and it's driving me crazy!

I remember being so pissed I was up at school during that Claus Fest. Always thought it was odd that the lineup was a bit unevenly distributed and Linkin Park and Blink 182 played the same night while Staind headlined the other night (probably would have made sense to have Blink as the headliner on night 2) but still a sweet lineup for the time. I believe Brand New and 311 played the night with Blink and LP?

I'm on the opposite coast now but have many fond memories grabbing $1 Megabus tickets and making my way to NYC from Boston:
LCD Soundsystem @ Madison Square Garden 2011 St. Vincent @ The Met 2012 (I think this was her first Strange Mercy show. It was supposed to be on the roof) Fiona Apple @ Music Hall of Williamsburg 2012 (first show in NYC in five years I think) School of Seven Bells @ Jimmy Fallon 2012 (back when he had an audience behind the band) Wild Flag @ Celebrate Brooklyn, Prospect Park 2012 (last show ever ) Pulp @ Radio City both nights 2012
A lot of NYC shows after but not many unique ones I can remember. I was supposed to fly out for Tame at MSG but had to cancel. Looking forward to coming back for more shows soon.

Oh, man, this is a tough one. There have been a bunch, but I have a hard time remembering the details of a stretch of years in the aughts. Do festival sets count?
Paul Simon at Corona Park, 2018. Got there super-early, got super-close, weather was perfect, ate some really good mushrooms, a plane flew in low overhead right when he sang, "Sail on, silver girl" during "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"...good times. Jack White at the Warsaw in 2018. It part of an album promo cycle, but a small venue, for him. Tame Impala's step up to festival headliner status at Panorama in 2017 was pretty mind-blowing. My Morning Jacket's Forest Hills show in 2017 was phenomenal. The band enjoyed the experience so much, they did it again last year. LCD Soundsystem in the first show at Brooklyn Steel The White Stripes and The Strokes at Radio City Music Hall, 2002 It was part of a tour, but Jonathan Richman at Bowery Ballroom as my first show after 9/11 was a pretty wonderful experience.

That Weezer show at Warsaw was awesome too.
That entire Claus Fest made absolutely no sense. First off, why did they do it at such a small venue? The year before was at Nassau Collesium and the year after was at Continental Airlines Arena. It was also the only year they did it in two nights instead of one.
Yep it was Brand New, 311, Blink 182 and Linkin Park. Pretty sure BN and 311 got 35 minutes and Blink and LP each got an hour. It was an odd mix on the lineup but I loved all four bands so I was in heaven. But you're right, looking back it would've made more sense to have Blink and The Offspring on the same night. Man I would go to all those DFPs and Claus Fests, I miss them!
Not shocking but Nick Cave at Barclays is cancelled as is his entire Fall tour. I expect the other September show cancellations to dribble down through the next couple of months.

Pandemic has claimed a big venue - Nassau Coliseum will not be re-opening (until/unless it finds a buyer). Not a major loss to me (only ever saw two shows there - R.E.M. in 1995, and U2 in 2018) but for people on the Island it's a loss. www.brooklynvegan.com/nassau-coliseum-to-remain-closed-indefinitely/

Tool in April was going to be my first Nassau Coliseum show. So much for all that.

That’s unfortunate, they just sank a shitload of money into upgrading it. I was there for the Panic At The Disco show in 2018 since I couldn’t make the MSG date and thought they did a nice job with it.

Yeah, that's definitely a factor, but that's not happening until at least fall of 2021. Islanders were still planning to play at the Coliseum next season (however that may be and if there is one), now they have to play at Barclays.
