Listening to that David Byrne set on Sirius Sunday convinced me to pickup tickets for jazz fest. Trey Trio Saturday, David Byrne Sunday. Feels like Bonnaroo 2004.

It was great man, and I was also convinced when I hadn’t planned to go that day, it became a must go for me. It’s a stripped down visual set featuring some hanging filament that either lights up or is projected on or maybe both. There were generally 12/13 people on stage moving in various formations. Think a marching band sort of, but those are some of the moves along with dancing and one spot in once in a lifetime where he and the 2 singers did the go back come up move made famous in the 80s. There were at least 2 parts where you heard a random Fripp inspired augmented guitar chord sequence which also stood out. Mix of old and new Byrne and either 4 or 5 talking heads songs. They finished with Burning Down the House. It was a sunset set, so this is after it was dark.

I knew so little about Soulwax going in but they were fuggin incredible. I streamed them, ODESZA (also great), then went back and played Soulwax again as I worked on some stuff. Daaaaaaammmmmmmmnnnnn.
GAB - I laughed. You already know that wasn’t even an afterthought, but your writing is a gift. Sometimes I read your catfish blog entries and sometimes I don’t even want to imagine what’s on the other end of some of those chats so I don’t. It’s like life becomes the movie Pink Flamingos.

Vince Staples is a good person who wants to do something for the children. He has a dream of getting rid of all emissions and fossil fuels in North Long Beach. He is gonna stopp the race war between the Mexicans and Asians that has been going on since the 20s, by sayin they really got a beef with the oil companies. They'll start grenading and suicide bombing the oil refineries. Then the big Gay population in Long Beach, they love Whole Foods and barista coffee. So he'll call his buddy Lloyd (shout out Lloyd!), to get the gay community all the way right. They got a Gay Latino Mayor, right? Boom. Vince is gonna be the Assistant Mayor. They are gonna have the Gay Latino Mayor and then the Black Crip Assistant Mayor together, and they are gonna throw the Asians in there somehow, and they are gonna get all the oil refiners out of Long Beach. Then they'll build a Tesla factory on the East side.

Are you high?
Not for at least 4 more hours. Vince explained the plan pretty clearly guys:
I woke up my girlfriend to watch this stream. She’s kinda upset, but also enjoying it...
There was a method behind why I did this - she DID enjoy the stream, and now she wants to go to Nice, France after we leave northern Spain to See Jay/Bey. BOOM!
edit: that Euro be fuckin' my CAD self though. God DAMN.
Yeah Launchy's paragraph was nearly verbatim from the interview. Vince is absolutely frickin' hilarious.
Also I don't understand hype for David Byrne in the least little bit. I enjoyed watching his set well enough, but there was nothing about it that made me go "Woah I wish I was seeing this live". I'm happy for those who enjoyed it so much, but I just don't get it.

It's probably a matter of taste and familiarity. While there are plenty of vocal flaws in the set (which is to be expected at this point in his life), I felt like the musicianship was beyond reproach. It was very easily the show I enjoyed the most on the stream (I watched the better part of about 50 this weekend). It was familiar and quirky as Byrne is known to be. No knock on you for not feeling the hype. Postjack and I both came away wanting to go see it live in 2 weeks on a day when I don't think either of us had planned to even go to Jazz Fest.

I wish I still had Sirius. I don't have enough time for the media subscriptions I have now. Listened to the Hulaween replay on the way home from Hula in '16 on Jam On. I miss a lot of those shows on Sirius.
"I interviewed 54 women at Coachella, and they all said they had been sexually harassed."
Random thoughts on this -
First of all, that is the first time I've seen a real trigger warning. I thought that was something the right had sort of made into a meme about the left and didn't really exist.
Second, some of these stories are crazy. "It's probably happened to me 40 times this weekend." Jesus fuck. I've witnessed this kind of thing happen to girls maybe 6 times in my last 5 Bonnaroos. 2 of those were instances where it was far beyond a grab. My brother (drunk as shit) actually beat the crap out of a guy at Flume last year who was basically going on a tirade, assaulting every girl in sight over a period of 10 minutes. Then one girl forcefully removed him from her. Then he smacked the living shit out of her. So I know this shit happens, but 40 times in 3 days is wild. I bet these weirdos are using sneaky moves and trying to snag a feel when nobody will notice (including me apparently).
My uneducated guess is that on one hand you have your bros who are aggressively trying to move on a girl, thinking that is what girls want. Then on the other hand you have weasels that don't receive much female sexual attention in their day-to-day who think this is a great opportunity to feel a butt for the first time in a couple months.
