Somewhat related - won tickets to Wild Nothing at the Fonda last night. The entire balcony was closed off (we like to sit up there) and according to a staff member I talked to, apparently they had only sold 400-some tickets out of ~1300. To justify opening the balcony would have required around 800 tickets or more sold.

Interesting. The New Pornographers last week must have sold roughly 800 in that case, cause the balcony was open but it felt like a ghost town in the venue.

Yeah. Like of course those first shows were a lot of underplays and could sell out but I think they shouldve priced things around $30 to just get people through the door.
When I won tix and went to The Chats at the fox in sept the balcony was closed off cause they didnt sell enough to open it up. They didnt even wristband anyone for the pit which is a first. Still filled up nicely at least.

Thats the second time theyve had a last minute cancellation from them due to a health thing. At the final weenie roast in Irvine Anthony got a last minute stomach bug and they cancelled an hour before hitting the stage.

No room for a second date. Add another $20 to Pit most likely. So stupid they have to do this now. This isnt the Wiltern.
