... and the conflicts are brutal. Of course. How could they not be with this line-up? Oh well, I'm not going to panic quite yet. This schedule is certain to change several times over the next month.
I don't really have any tough schedule conflicts surprisingly. All things considered they seemed to do a solid job of it. I have conflicts between some bands I would like to see, but none with bands I must see.
Thu: Irreversible Entanglements > Oren Ambarchi > Avey Tare > Yunohana Variations > Moor Mother OR Clarice Jensen [whichever is closer to the Mill & Mine] > Mercury Rev
Fri: Lonnie Holley & The Messthetics > Carl Stone > Shai Maestro > The Comet Is Coming > Spiritualized > Mary Lattimore > Fire! > Jlin
Sat: Joep Beving > KTL > Kara-Lis Coverdale > Carla Bley TRIOS > This Is Not This Heat > serpentwithfeet > Nils Frahm > Sons of Kemet > 12-Hour Drone - zzzz
Sun: zzzz - 12-Hour Drone > Vijay Iyer & Craig Taborn > Ever Present Orchestra > Kayhan Kalhor & Brooklyn Rider > Arvo Pärt's Passio > The Art Ensemble of Chicago
This will probably change when they alter the schedule, of course.
Yeah, I'll be staying at the M&M all evening that day to make sure I get in to Spiritualized. I guess this means Spiritualized will not be playing with the Orchestra, though, huh?

With this schedule, I’ll skip Spiritualized because they’re coming to my town soon. Did Bill Frisell & the Mesmerists (to the films of Bill Morrison) get bumped? Wish I didn’t have to do any partial sets of Harold Budd.
Bummed to be missing: Art Ensemble of Chicago, The DeJohnette Coltrane Garrison Fire! Joan La Barbara perform works by Alvin Lucier Kara-Lis Coverdale Kristín Anna Valtysdóttir KTL (O'Malley + Rehberg) Lonnie Holley & the Messthetics Nashville Ballet, The Nils Frahm Spiritualized Triptych Vijay Iyer & Craig Taborn
Of course, secret shows, surprise announcements, and the film line-up haven't been announced yet... AND their schedule is going to change (it always does). But here's my first pass anyway:
Thursday: The Roedelius Cells -> Peter Gregson -> Oren Ambarchi -> Joan La Barbara -> Clarice Jensen + Jonathan Turner -> Mercury Rev
Friday: David Torn -> Carl Stone -> Harold Budd (partial set) -> The Comet is Coming -> Parker + Schlippenbach + Lytton -> ABSÎNT -> Coupler -> Mercury Rev’s Clear Light Ensemble
Saturday: Meredith Monk + Vocal Ensemble -> Mimi Goese + Ben Neill -> The Messthetics -> This is Not This Heat -> Harold Budd (partial set) -> Jerusalem in My Heart -> 12 Hour Drone
Ugh, I already missed Mimi Goese set on the schedule. Gotta go back and revisit that day.
Also in your experience, what are the hardest venues to get in? I know it depends on who’s playing, but I wouldn’t mind using some expertise from the festival veterans.

It really does depend on the artist. The Square Room used to be tough, but it looks like they're reserving that room for "Mosaic Interactive." Other than that it's totally artist dependent, in my opinion.
I can't miss Mimi for reasons I gushed about earlier. Also there is this:

Thanks! I also didn’t know you were a big Harold Budd fan

Another guy I became a fan of in high school when he released The Moon and the Melodies w/ the Cocteau Twins. Then I went and learned about his earlier work w/ Eno, etc. I've wanted to see him forever, and with him at 82 years old, I have to imagine extensive tours may be winding down at this point.
Friday: Joan La Barbara preforms works of Alvin Lucier/ Alvin Lucier + Ever Present Orchestra > Shai Maestro > The Comet Is Coming > Spiritualized > Fire! > Jlin
Saturday: Joep Beving > KTL > The Messthetics > Sweetpeas BBQ > TINTH > serpentwithfeet > Makaya McCraven > Sons of Kemet

OK, so we're putting together a big guide in the paper I write for again this year. Let me know if anyone would like to contribute a paragraph or two about some of the artists. If interested, I can make a list of the acts we have covered already and send it to you.

I've already rearranged my schedule half a dozen times... taking into account distance between venues to be a little more realistic about what I can catch. There were a few times where I was jumping back and forth between the Bijou or the KMA, and the Mill & Mine. Back and forth... back and forth. That's going to be a bit much without a bike or a large Uber budget. So here's my last modification until the film series and surprise shows are announced (unless the surprise shows are the secret shows...)
Thursday TIM STORY PRESENTS THE ROEDELIUS CELLS --> PETER GREGSON --> OREN AMBARCHI --> DEREK GRIPPER --> YUNOHANA VARIATIONS WITH YOSHIMIO, SUSIE IBARRA, AND ROBERT AIKI AUBREY LOWE --> CLARICE JENSEN + JONATHAN TURNER: FOR THIS FROM THAT WILL BE FILLED --> MERCURY REV
Friday LONNIE HOLLEY AND THE MESSTHETICS --> HAROLD BUDD --> THE COMET IS COMING --> PARKER / SCHLIPPENBACH / LYTTON TRIO --> SPIRITUALIZED --> DRAGNET GIRL WITH LIVE SCORE BY COUPLER --> CARNIVAL OF SOULS WITH LIVE SCORE BY MERCURY REV'S CLEAR LIGHT ENSEMBLE FT. STEVE SHELLEY, TIM BERNE, BEN NEILL, MIMI GOESE, JIM SCLAVUNOS, JESSE CHANDLER, JONATHAN AND GRASSHOPPER
Saturday MEREDITH MONK & VOCAL ENSEMBLE CELLULAR SONGS --> MIMI GOESE & BEN NEILL --> CARL STONE --> CARLA BLEY TRIOS WITH ANDY SHEPPARD AND STEVE SWALLOW --> THIS IS NOT THIS HEAT --> SERPENTWITHFEET --> JERUSALEM IN MY HEART --> 12-HOUR DRONE ALL NIGHT FLIGHT: DREAMS OF THE WHIRLWIND
Sunday 12-HOUR DRONE ALL NIGHT FLIGHT: DREAMS OF THE WHIRLWIND --> ALVIN LUCIER + EVER PRESENT ORCHESTRA --> JOEP BEVING --> HAROLD BUDD
I recently saw Joep Bevin, and Spiritualized & The Comet is Coming are visiting my area soon... so as much as I love all three, I'm kinda hoping they get swapped around with The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Fire!, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Kristín Anna Valtysdóttir, KTL, Nik Bärtsch's Ronin, or Vijay Iyer & Craig Taborn.
