Ok, ACE. You can quit playing now and just give us Neneh Cherry.
Wait, is Neneh Cherry rumored as an add? I'd be very into that
It's a want. I'm loving the new record and wishing for her. The last time I saw her was Pitchfork a few years ago and can't think of many others she'd show up on.
In anticipation of a 2016 tour, Jonathan Meiburg had begun rehearsing a few songs from Lodger with his band Shearwater. Then Bowie passed, and it seemed like an encore or two of “Look Back in Anger” wasn't enough. They figured out how to play the whole album, and then wanted more. Tennessee’s Big Ears Festival offered a chance to do the entire trilogy, but backed out at the last minute. Meanwhile, the band’s Emily Lee had already begun the herculean task of scoring out the albums’ impenetrable ambient epics.
They should bring it to Big Ears next year regardless.

Massive Attack tour comes through my neck of the woods (Detriot and Chicago) same weekend as this and I have no clue what to do
Big Ears dropped the ball not having them headline. Seemed like that would be a group they would be keeping tabs on year after year.
Eh, I dunno about dropping the ball. I'm not sure where they would play. The last two times I've seen them were at 7k+ seating civic centers/auditoriums. Tennessee Theater is like 1.2k and the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum is off the walkable path. If ACE booked them, you'd have people pissed they couldn't get in or a half empty civic center because nobody wanted to walk there. Either way it's lose/lose for the festival.
That said, there is a gap after DC and before Detroit that both cities sit 8 hours from Knoxville. I'm not holding my breath but I am holding out till I see everything on Tuesday. It's probably just a second date for DC after the first sells out though.
