I cried like crazy at the "last" LCD Soundsystem show at MSG when they played both Someone Great, and also All My Friends when James sang the "to tell the truth this could be the last time" line. I was mad for about .0001 seconds when I heard they got back together though.
Definitely shed some tears when I saw Bon Iver a couple of weeks ago. I cry at shows all the time though lol, my girlfriend teases me about it but I can't help it
A few other times I cried at shows that I didn't want to necessarily launch the thread with:
During Weird Fishes at ACL Weekend 2, I rolled a tear right as Thom finished the phrase before the instrumental break. I've never felt so zoned in on a performance in my life.
I dated a girl, not for a very long time, about two months, who was a recovering addict. She told me she relapsed after we broke up. When U2 played Running to Stand Still at Bonnaroo, I related very strongly. I think One Tree Hill also got me. It does when I listen to it on record now, anyway.
My friend's wife had a baby right before we were set to see Hans Zimmer. It was a good bit premature and he had to leave the show. Kid's doing great now, btw, but when Circle of Life hit it was definitely a thing. Not because we were super worried, we weren't really, but he was my first good friend to have a child.
The most recent times I cried at shows were this year at Shaky Knees. Tenacious D got me twice. Once during Tribute and then later for the finale, Fuck Her Gently. They did this whole extended soaring outro for FHG, and I've known both of those songs for what feels like forever. Everyone was singing along and having an awesome time. This was the only one I was embarrassed about at the time. Definitely tried to hide it.
So I already said that I cry a lot at shows. Let me try to explain what happens to me when I see Fiona Apple or PJ Harvey perform. I shake uncontrollaby, not just my hands shaking, like a full body shake. It's a feeling I don't believe I've ever had for anything else. It might actually even happen moreso with Fiona than PJ. It's not even just her voice, it's the intensity that she performs with. It's just a very weird energy. Ibelieve if I ever saw Portishead it would happen there as well.
If we're talking about non-Roo shows, I saw U2 in Canada shortly after 9/11. It was an emotional time as it was, paired with an eerily quiet border crossing and polite but concerned interactions with Canadians and I was primed. Cue U2 rolling the names of all of the victims while playing One and with Bono draped in an American flag. Waterworks.
(Side note: I'll always have a soft spot for the album All That You Can't Leave Behind because I strongly associate it with 9/11.)
the most embarrassing for me is probably crying during Shakedown at Roo because I had just seen The Other One: The Long Strange Trip of Bob Weir. I was just thinking of how hard a life he lived, and how he just kept on keeping on and he still gets to play his songs with his friends, among other things from the movie that I was thinking about, and I just started bawling while everyone around me was like "woooooooo, shakedown street at roooooooo"
Will also accept times you came at shows, so that you can feel included.
Never happened, BUT I am seeing Taylor Swift live for the very first time in Nashville on August 25 in a private box so I will DEFINITELY report back when I explode.
It’s only happened twice for me, and it was more like a little teary eyed.
The first time was during M83’s Roo set, I believe it was ‘Outro’ that got me. And then again at Modest Mouse while they played ‘Night on the Sun.’ It could’ve been worse than teary-eyed at MM, I was pretty wasted.
Reading all of yours makes me wish I wasn’t such an emotionless bastard.
Just happened recently. Bon Iver played Flume at a show recently. My first serious girlfriend first heard that song right after her grandfather passed, and for whatever reason, it hit her hard. She burst into tears. So, when they played it, I couldn’t help but think of that moment, and of her, and how I kind of wished she was there to hear it. I teared up pretty good.

Mutemath - Whenever the lead singer brought his daughter out to rock out with him.
Wildchild - UTOPIAFEST - At the end of "A Tale of You and Me" which is a seriously dark song that ends with album outro of "sleep good, hold tight, just know that I'll make it right" repeated over and over, slowly building into a massive sing a long. They brought up a young girl to sing those happy lyrics and jump around with the crowd.
Gorillaz last year in philly. Its been such a long want to see them I'm pretty sure during meloncholy hill and def during andromeda.
Foo Fighters @ Hangout Fest - During Everlong....all I got.
Off the top of my head, I can think of a few shows that I’ve cried during.
Paul McCartney at Bonnaroo (numerous times during the show) Jason Isbell at Pilgrimage during a couple of songs Jason Isbell at Ryman during “Something More Than Free” Dave Matthews Band multiple shows
I tend to get misty eyed more recently during some songs. Lately, every time I hear Milck’s version of “Ooh Child” I lose it due to the loss of an unborn child at 18 weeks. It kind of became my theme song for lack of a better word.

I cried at Macca's Lolla show when they played Band on the Run and Hey Jude.
Radiohead's Lolla 2016 show when they played Let Down. Navy Pier had fireworks going off in the distance and it was just kind of a beautiful moment. I was in the process of moving from Chicago to CoMo full-time and it just felt like the end of a certain period in my life.
Similarly, NYILY and All My Friends two days later.
Kid Koala opening for Deltron 3030 in I think 2014. He talked about his mom and dedicated Moon River to her which was her favorite song. It was my lullaby as a baby, and my mom is deceased.
Also U2 playing Bad at the Superdome. I was pretty high up and on an end and heard the first couple notes, got up and went to the top. I knew at the time it would get me plus I wanted to scream the song and I’m usually a suck singer. Haha/sniff

I almost lost it recently during two separate songs at a Blind Melon show. It was a great show, but I think it had more to do with nostalgia than anything. Thinking about how different my life is now from the time that those songs were written still blows my mind.
My wife was sobbing uncontrollably at Bonnaroo 2011. I had just proposed to her in front of the arch and we were headed to Mumford. Great show, despite basically being so far back we were closer to our tent than the stage. But their encore that day was Amazing Grace of all things. My wife's grandmother, who she was very close with, was obsessed with that song while she was growing up. She actually passed away the day before my wife got married the first time, and she always had it in the back of her mind that she should have taken that as a sign she was marrying the wrong person. Fast forward to June 2011 and she now had validation that day from her grandmother that this was in fact the right person this time. Very emotional day.

Foo fighters. One of my favorite bands. And my dog Oscar loved “my hero” would just run and bark to it. Passed away Last January. Saw them in April. And broke down during this song.

I get to see Radiohead for the 5th time this coming Monday. Considering what's gone on with me the last 8-9 months, I'll be surprised if I'm not right back to this thread...

I shed a tear or two at am unremembered metal show in college. The guy in front me got landed on by someone and sent back into me. I wasn't paying attention and took a backwards head butt directly to the nose. I legit thought it was broken for a minute.

Saw Radiohead in my own town tonight. I did get overwhelmed a couple times and some tears were shed. The main song was Reckoner, of all songs. Not typically a personal favorite, but I started thinking about the show at Bonnaroo 2012 and how it was the next to last song and there were fireworks and I was with my wife at the place we both love...
The other time was during Exit Music (for a Film) and that was more about the beauty of the song and the band at that moment.
I know the wife had a couple teary moments, I may add to this post after we talk more.
Side note: I'll never sit in the "upper deck" at a show that is really important to me again. I've never had to "chair dance" through an entire show until tonight.
