For the record I would have been fine and had my pick ready for when this pill inevitably ended not in my favor but I will not be told I am cheating for trying to draft something that tests limits
Sometimes cdev uses words loosely... i can’t believe anyone believes you’re cheating by doing this.
I won’t be called a cheater for testing boundaries. I wasn’t trying to pull a fast one on you guys. Wasn’t sneaking extra picks onto my poster or voter fraud or anything. I picked an act figuring it would be shot down and would have been fine with it.
1) they must be an act. 2) they must have played two publicly accessible shows.
KSG is an act.
KSG have not played two publicly available shows. They've played zero publicly accessible shows. They don't even have two future shows announced.
These are the rules that we have been playing with the entire game. The unfairness is you acknowledging that this doesn't meet that criteria but that it shouldn't matter for you.
The process is that if someone picks an act that a second person feels doesn't fall within the rules then that second person can then request a binding poll, right? Polls are part of the game. I agree hes on the outer edges of what we've found acceptable so far, but saying hes cheating is pushing it. If we were to vote this pick down and he refused to take it off his lineup or picked out of turn etc then I'd agree on the cheating.
I think a lot of people would have drafted Kids See Ghosts but didn't because it'd be against the rules. It'd be unfair to change the rules this one time. Also won't this draft be over by the time that performance comes around? So we won't even know for sure if that show happened or not. Even if they announce a tour, it could also easily start after the draft is finished. So it's not really taking a risk. If you draft an artist, we're assuming they are taking the stage and performing at their peak.

Cheating? I am out. I am saying that I am drafting an act that makes question eligibility. But I’m not trying to steal or do wrong or pull one over like crisp. I have had a bad day at work and for my liesure and entertainment to call me a cheater for testing boundaries, fuck this. I’m out. Y’all can fight over who gets Prince.
In the post that I quoted you presented two options: we were mad that you made the pick and we didn't or that we're mad that you cheated. (Your word.)
Between those two options, I articulated that the thing that people were upset about was you making a pick that was specifically against the rules.
I'm sorry that using that word pissed you off. I'm pretty pissed off by the regular dump that certain people feel free to take on the draft every time we enforce the rules these have been in place for months. I can't help but take it a bit personally since this is kinda my thing.
I certainly don't want you to quit. I think that you are a great addition to the game.

and I’ve never done anything to knock the work you put in or you or the draft at all. In fact the contrary. I drafted an act for the infinity draft just hoping to go for it. And knowing it would get shot down. And my previous argument was just that after announcing their first date it should be eligible because it shows they will be performing. So they should be considered an act (far more than some of these Collabs). That being said I wasn’t a cheater and I’m not a cheater. I’m just testing the limits of eligibility due to a scenario that wasn’t previously presented.

walaka please don't quit the draft. Let's all see this through together. We are sisters and brothers in this thing and will be stronger for having pushed through the adversity.
I know that sounds dramatic but I'm not even joking. Music is really, really important to us. Let's all step back for a minute and look at what we are doing at a high level. Our obsession with music is beautiful and strange. And with obsession comes passion, and with passion comes intensity, and all the arguments we have about the painfully specific minutiae of music, live music, music festivals, and the music industry are the fruits of that intensity.
Sometimes things get tumultuous and feelings get hurt. But the joy we get out of it all makes it worth it.
i'm saying it shouldn't be and there probably could of been a rule in place for a situation like this.
Then you should've asked for a rule change and those participating in the view should've had a vote on it.
but no one thought of it and we're in the situation we are now. im just saying how i view what should be allowed. why we have polls as the last line of defense anyway.

To reiterate, I was referring to your post. I never would have thought to apply the c-word to the situation had it not been a part of your post. I regret it. I don't think that you're a "cheater."
I do think that your pick was clearly and obviously against the rules that we played the last forty-something by.
(FWIW, I personally don't care about Kids See Ghosts.)

People have thought of it. Silver Surfer has mentioned multiple times during the course of the draft that he would like them but that they aren't eligible because they haven't performed together live.
Nobody said, 'They should be. Let's change the rules to make any act that has recorded together be the standard. Or any act that may play together in the future.'
We really have a pretty low bar for being an acceptable pick: any act that has performed two publicly available shows at any time in the past. We have regularly challenged what it means to be "an act" and I think that we've gotten it wrong a couple of times in both directions. That's understandable because we didn't clearly define what it meant to be an act and we have different ideas about it. The two public shows rule was as clear as could I could think to make it. In this case, the pick is saying that two shows aren't necessary nor do any shows need to happen at all.
this poll is probably gonna be like 25-5 anyways so as long as walaka doesn't really quit it doesn't even matter
I think that it'll be closer and I wouldn't be shocked if it passes. Whenever I talk about the rules there is a certain portion of the board that will automatically vote for whatever upends them.
I just want to clarify that me quitting had nothing to do with the vote losing (it will). It was honestly dramatic as fuck. In my defense I've had a string of bad luck (my car exploded last week) and been incredibly overworked. When I saw Cdev's "cheating" comment it was just after being unjustly yelled at by my boss (cause he had his boss hovering, nitpicking, and just being an overall douche all day long) and I flew off the handle. So I apologize for being a moody fuck. I also accept Cdev's apology and there are no hard feelings.
now that this has been resolved I am going to make a plea to having Kids See Ghosts voted for, mostly just so I can put them on my playlist tomorrow. Love y'all. K. Bye.
Sorry you're having a shit day, walaka. Hope tomorrow's better for you.
I am off work now and have a six pack. One more double shift and I got two days in a row off. It could be way worse. My bad for letting my emotions get the best of me.
