Parquet Courts makes sense because Bonnaroo books great bands after everyone else does. So booking Parquet Courts in 2018 instead of any year between 2012-2015 fits the pattern

They just released an album that was put on many "best albums of 2018" lists, but ok.

Not saying they aren't great, just saying 2018 is late for this to be their first appearance.
Not trying to rain on the parade, but what if their strategy is to create buzz with 'good stuff' pre-release (as opposed to fluffing Getter) and the actual lineup will just be more of the same.

They did this last year too. I think they learned in 2017 that the edm crowd doesn't react to and follow Roo Clues as much as Inforoo types. Either way, I'd rather the acts be decent than not.

That’s probably what will happen but I’m still happy that they booked Parquet Courts
I like all the clues so far. I've also been listening to "Pretty Girl" by Clairo at least five times a day since her Roo Clue came out.
So I didn't even realize I knew/liked Clairo. I was jamming out last night to XMU and singing all the words to some song, looked down and it was Clairo.
I feel like any large multi-genre music festival is going to have a lot of garbage on their lineup. The best you can hope for is that at least 60% of the lineup is mostly good. Up until 2014 you could look at a Bonnaroo lineup poster and go "yeah this is all mostly good, maybe some artists or genres I don't care for, but nothing awful". Those days are gone. Bonnaroo could have been like the Glastonbury of the US but that's not the direction they're going anymore. But whether it's Coachella, Gov Ball, or Bonnaroo I think you're guaranteed to get a lineup with a significant amount of terrible acts. That's just the festival market in the US now. So yeah I'm happy with all of these good Roo Clues right now. But I'm not expecting the whole lineup to be like that.
Parquet Courts . Little Simz . Clairo . The Nude Party
3/4 aint bad so far.
Would be nice for them to use an artist that would be surprising, but I understand saving those artists for the final lineup as well.
Curious to know which one you consider a miss? Seems like Clairo and Nude Party both received lukewarm responses.
Clairo is the miss but ive never actually listened to her, just judging since people say she’s possibly another lo-fi bedroom pop “industry plant”. I’ll give her a shot though.
I think they would have just shown a Parquet Court if that’s what they were going for, rather than toast that sorta looks like Parquet and a mason jar filled with butter substance.

There has been awful stuff on like every lineup fwiw. If the festival landscape is only down to '40 percent good lineups' than I guess it comes down to how rare and unique that grouping is. Everyone seems to be about Parquet Courts, but we've also probably had many chances to see them. Like Coachella might fluff some garbage but they still make a point to redeem themselves and engage the more experienced audience. Bonnaroo just quit trying. They're complacent.
edit: they should have gone with the quartz mineral!

I mean stuff like Skrillex and Wiz Khalifa might kind of suck but it's not as offensively bad as Marshmello or Jon Bellion.
Bonnaroo sold their tegridy to Live Nation four years ago

This is going to be one of those acts that is "locked" and then turns out to be something completely out of left field. I am with the sandwich, Parquet Court doesn't feel right.

I think you guys might of missed the part where the Bonnaroo team explained that the “32” on the mason jar was significant. 32 Oz=Quart. Plus the Parquet on toast it seems like a 100% lock

A QUART of butter (Parkay) next to toast with a parquet pattern. Like...what else could this possibly be. There’s no secondary answer.

Actually now that you've brought up the significance of '32' it makes more sense.
British MC Wretch 32 has a new album on the way and once put a TOAST on youtube. I think we can lock him in actually.
edit: to add more heat to the fire, I don't know if you guys saw Parquet's dates but they will be in New Zealand and Aus through February. Could take months to get back which conflicts with TN in June.

Parquet Courts is the best guess by a mile.
Its a quart of butter sitting there. To make it clear that the substance is butter, they threw a piece of toast next to it. Its one of like 3 items that would make sense next to parkey. And then they threw the parquet shape shit on that piece of toast.
The toast is secondary though. They honestly overdid it. If you took away the toast and just placed a quart of butter there, it would have been as simple as the other three clues. I think they were just worried that people wouldnt know what the substance in the jar was, so they doubled up on the parkay / parquet to make it absolutely clear.

You could also say the toast represents Parquet Courts with the pattern, and the jar represents Parkay Quarts. This way they cover both versions of the names they've released music as.
Inforoo grew up with those insanely hard Roo Clues that DJJD used to put out where you had to go look up one line from page 243 of Ulysses that sounds vaguely similar to a line from an obscure Flaming Lips album cut and we can't process Roo's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader level clues anymore.
As an aside, I don't know what JD is doing anymore, but I'd really love to see just one more of his clues just to watch the Facebook and Reddit groups heads explode.
