Saturday Travis Scott | Chemical Brothers The Black Crows
Sunday Foo Fighters | Vampire Weekend A$AP Rocky
Or
Friday Tool | Anderson .Paak Wilco
Saturday Rihanna | Flume Oysterhead
Sunday Coldplay | Beck Lizzo
Tough one, but I'd have to go with #1 mostly because of Chemical Brothers. I'd also love to see Neil again and VW is a favorite. Also just generally want to see Travis Scott at Bonnaroo.
#2: Always happy to see Tool but I've seen them enough to where it's not a huge pull for me. It's been a while since I've seen Wilco, would love to see them. Rihanna would be cool but I'm not a massive fan. Oysterhead I of course want to see, but I'm pretty sure I'll have the opportunity to catch them elsewhere. Coldplay I've heard is great live and I've never seen them, but I don't care that much about them.

I feel like I’ve said this before but Tyler, the Creator should be on more of these mocks. Been 4 years and has put out by far his most popular/best albums since then. Feel like he’d be a great “sub” a la Kendrick, J Cole, Chance, Gambino. If I remember right, they all played 8:45-10 Friday night

I wouldn’t be shocked if we didn’t have at least two of Anderson .Paak, A$AP Rocky, Tyler the Creator, Kid Cudi, Logic, Lizzo, and RTJ as second or third name on their day.

Paak played that slot in 2018. He's gotten bigger, but it seems early to bring him back for another pre-HL.

Overall #1, and mostly because of The Black Crowes. But I’d also be cool with Anderson .Paak, Wilco, Oysterhead, Beck, and Lizzo. Those HLs in #2 do absolutely nothin’ fer me.

I’ve just been assuming Lizzo is a shoe in. Don’t really see Paak again already though and Logic is way past his window to really make sense for them but they also just booked the Lumineers so who knows. RTJ would be cool if they put out RTJ4

Lol, you’re gonna call someone out on their spelling?

my only concern is they miss her cause smaller fests (Beale street that she polled really high at or forcastle) grab her as a headliner.

trey played an acoustic version of Mr. Oysterhead last night.
“I’m just making this up as I go along, but I’ll try it,” Trey told the crowd in Dayton as he began the acoustic debut of “Mr. Oysterhead” as part of last night’s four-song encore. Anastasio then noted how excited he was to play “flanked by ol’ Les and Stew” in regards to the forthcoming return of Oysterhead.

Conversation topic: sometimes there are acts that in the past headlined a big multi-genre festival, but at some point lost the popularity or cache to nab those headliner spots. it seems like acts in this situation never return to said festivals because they don't want to sub at a festival they once headlined. Can you think of any acts that headlined a big festival like Coachella, Bonnaroo, ACL, Lollapalooza, or similar, and then returned in later years in a non-headlining slot?

Jane's Addiction headlined Lolla in 2003 and then didn't headline in 2016
Death Cab headlined Lolla in 2006 and then didn't headline in 2019

the answer to most questions like this is Phoenix
kinda supports his theory since they haven’t played Coachella again
Not exactly the same but the Strokes headlines Coachella the same year that they were 11th at Bonnaroo.
Even I know that The Strokes didn’t “headline” Coachella that year. They subbed for Kanye, but GV felt bad and bumped them up next to his name on the poster.

this isn’t a The Weeknd/Jack white scenario. The Strokes coheadlined coachella whether it was out of pity or not.

The correct Bonnaroo answer is Phil Lesh and Friends. Multi year headliner and then LN Which/daytime This in 08.

2008 was weird too bc jack Johnson was the third headliner, but the Allman brothers dropped out and they got widespread panic to headline Sunday for the second year in a row.
In 06 though, the "friends" included John Scofield and Joan Osborne.
