After the success of last year you'd think they try to get a jam band higher up on the bill.
How much of last year's success was due to Phish though? Neither of their sets drew that well. And if we do attribute the success of last year to them who could replicate that?

She did used to have several albums on Spotify but she seems to have scrubbed them all but the new one from there. Not sure what the motivation is there, but I'm mostly upset just because Ain't I was on one of the Inforoo playlists I curated and now it's only 39 songs instead of 40

She apparently decided she wanted her "career" to start with her getting on a major label/releasing the Coconut Oil EP

we talked a good bit about what made bonnaroo so successful last year following the fest. obviously this is all speculation, especially the ticket numbers, but if I could be so bold as to sum up the thoughts of inforoo, it goes something like this:
1. Book hugely popular headliners amongst the prime festival going age demo: Post Malone and Childish Gambino. This sells 40,000 tickets. If you just populate the rest of the lineup with Spotify stream driven acts you aren't going to get any higher than this cap, because people are coming for the big names anyway. What can we do to sell the next 40,000 tickets?
2. Book an off-kilter act with a dedicated fanbase like Phish. Some of this fanbase, and maybe some looky-loos who are curious about Phish but don't want to pay $80 to see them at a standalone show, could fill out another 15,000 tickets.
3. Book a genre-consistent electronic lineup that appeals to a certain type of fan. Bonnaroo has generally chosen wookbass to appeal to the EF crowd. These fans can hang out at The Other most of the day and have a blast, and even head over to Kalliope to go all night if they want. Another 15,000 tickets sold.
4. For the last 10,000 tickets, instead of just booking the Rising Streaming Numbers Artists Sponsored By Live Nation Package™, you dig just a little bit deeper to book a variety of unique artists across a variety of genres: Gojira, Anoushka Shankar, Deafheaven, The Lonely Island, John Prine, basically artists that aren't your typical festival lineup fillers that you can catch at any given festival in any big city. This diversity is the tipping point for music fans whose tastes run more varied than the "mainstream" of US festival culture. This type of fan would love to see Childish Gambino or Cardi B one of the other headliners, but needs a little something more to get them to buy a ticket and make the trip.
So to answer your question I don't think it necessarily has to be a jamband that helps with that #2 spot, just some act with some core fans who wouldn't otherwise consider bonnaroo.
She absolutely could be booked as a non-headliner. This is a festival that's booked NIN and Jay-Z as non-headliners. Honestly, she's an ideal Sunday preheadliner.
That said, I've read that she's rebuffed Bonnaroo because of the heat.

Maybe it's just the bubble I live in, but Garth Brooks not being on Spotify has probably hurt his popularity among younger generations. I'm from a pretty red area and I hardly hear even the people my age who I know enjoy country bring him up all that often. I mean, he's obviously fucking huge, but his core demo isn't really the festival-going set either
Pick your poison: Jason Aldean or Post Malone as a headliner at Bonnaroo
I wouldn’t hate Jason Aldean or Post Malone as headliners. I’d prob watch a second of post malone where I’m more familiar with his music. But if I could get a cool close spot for somebody else that’s def what I’d do. Or maybe ham sandwich.
Mainstream country without conflicts on the main would be about as bad as it gets.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Post Malone headlined this year.
As much as I loved Garth as a tot, I would take a bill of The Killers - Post Malone - Kings of Leon if it means these two worlds never have to collide.
Edit: if I was a Stagecoach guy he would certainly be at the top of the list though

It's definitely true that the Garth demo would be out of place at Bonnaroo in a way that Post's wouldn't.

21 Pilots.
I know they get ragged on a bit here but I saw Twenty One Pilots last night for the first show of the new leg of their bandito tour and I have to say it was the best concert i’ve ever been to. I’ve seen them a handful of times and while they’ve always been great, they’ve got such a tight set now and have some fantastic production. As corny as it sounds, it truly felt like a celebration of life and i’d urge any of you who have enjoyed/been curious about any of their music to catch a show near you or at least give them a shot if they end up being a roo headliner (even though i doubt they will).
