Anyone else having trouble finding Frito's? I know it's chili season but damn they've been out everywhere.
sam's club has them if you want enough for the year. this did inspire me to buy the trader joe's version of dippers on my shopping trip this morning. i could eat the entire bag if the salt didn't make it feel like my mouth is destroyed.
Speaking of missing chips, has anyone been able to find All Dressed Ruffles?
I thought that they were Canadian like the ketchup ones.
they are. We used to be able to find them everywhere up until some point in the pandy. I think it was that trucker strike at the border? It seems their spot on the shelves was replaced by the dumb lebron flavor.
Last time I went to Subway it was really good. Subway might be good now.
We got deliveries from random ppl to the hospital when the pandemic started and Subway was one of them. I was surprised it was so much better than I remembered.
Made a chicken pot pie this weekend, banana pudding, and a breakfast with fluffy pancakes. I'm going to be sick of the kitchen by the time Thanksgiving gets here.
Hey 3post1jack1 how was dinner and what did y’all get / how did you plan your courses?
Restaurant R'evolution review. TLDR; it's great, recommended for anyone looking for a fancy meal in the quarter.
Beautiful, bright, colorful setting. Great service throughout as one would expect.
Apps:
Death By Gumbo - a signature dish, just roux and a boneless stuffed quail, but when you cut the quail all the rice and stuff comes out. For some reason I thought the roux would be super dark and smokey, but it was balanced and complex.
Hearts of Cajun Romaine - Melody just really wanted a salad, this was effectively an oyster caesar salad, and it was delicious. won't change your life but if its what you want get it.
Blue Crab Beignets - usually i stay away from stuff thats like "we took X and made a beignet out of it", but our server recommended these so we went for it. Maybe the best dish of the whole night, these made me so happy. Absolutely delicious crab, the fry was light and didn't feel heavy at all. Melody teases me a lot about getting emotional about food, I've had certain dishes where the first bite literally makes me tear up, but she admitted she got emotional eating this dish. I don't know, it was just perfect. And quite a large portion size, honestly.
Entrees:
Lobster & black garlic linguini - another contender for best dish of the night. for some reason I pictured this as being very bright and creamy based on the menu description, but in actuality it is dark (literally, the pasta has squid ink in it) and oily, but the calabrian chili give its that spicy punch that elevates the whole thing. It felt like a thai dish, our server said it really wasn't that spicy, and it's not incredibly spicy, but it's the kind of medium spice that hits your mouth and doesn't leave. You will need water and your nose will get snotty.
Sea scallops and black truffles - if you love scallops you'll love these, the sweetness of the scallop pairs perfectly with the heartiness of the veal cheek. big scallops. enjoyed every bite.
Sides:
Braised greens - a classic bacony vinegary greens dish. Creole cream cheese whipped potatoes - classic mashed taters. Dirty wild rice with chicken liver - this was on odd one, it was dirty rice that tasted... clean? i expected it to me more organy given the livers. melody usually doesn't like organs but ended up eating most of this, it was her favorite side, to me it was fine but i couldn't get over my confusion.
Dessert:
Spiced Pumpkin Bread Pudding Creme Brulee - perfectly light and not overly sweet way to wrap up the meal.
Overall it was a great meal, we'll return for sure. Lots of other stuff I want to try. Only negative is we ate too much and were stuffed.

Glad you enjoyed it. It was about 9 years between my two visits. The crab begniets have 4 sauces right? I think each has a different type of remoulade. They don't show on the menu, but apparently they have posted their recipe. Edit - sorry it expired apparently. :/

Somebody remind me about this place when I'm there in May.
You are coming in May and this is the first I am hearing about it?
I've mentioned it on here before. Since your likes indicate you read everything that is posted on this website I can only conclude that you chose to ignore that information.

This is the first year ever that I have scored both the cheese AND wine Advent calendar at Aldi! So every single day from Dec 1st to Dec 24th I have to eat cheese and drink wine. My guts aren’t going to know if they are coming or going.
Thankfully each day is only a 1/2 oz of cheese and one glass of wine.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

pa doesn't have the alcohol calendars in aldi, but we got a chocolate calendar from there, cheese from sam's club and the dog's calendar from trader joe's.

Nice! I did get chocolate ones too. The pop-up one and the truffle one. And a dog calendar. And a beauty products one from Trader Joe's for my son's fiance. I share your appreciation of Advent calendars.

Like Bee, CT doesn't sell wine in grocery stores, but I actually saw one here in NC a few days ago. I was so tempted to buy it, but then there's the whole bring it home thing that I'd have to figure out so I skipped. Also, jealous.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Ohio is just chock full of drunks, so we can buy full strength liquor in the grocery stores, and wine at the gas station and Walgreens. Home delivery of booze through Door Dash still. It is the only way you can survive living in this hellhole, especially in the winter.

For such a liberal state, I have never understood our liquor laws (Blue Laws). Only beer in grocery stores, nothing in gas stations and such. Growing up you couldn't purchase booze of any variety on Sundays or after 7 pm the other days of the week. Luckily my college was near a state border for those Sunday package store trips.

In Georgia, we can get beer and wine in the grocery store but nothing harder than that. Last time we lived here (2006-2009), you couldn’t buy alcohol at all in stores on Sundays. Note you can, but only after like 12:30 because buying beer on a Sunday morning is still evil.
Pho is mid, overrated. Ramen is lowkey goated when soup is the vibe.
Both good imho. There are better soup styles than both, but I’ll gobble the shit out of some ramen and some pho. Pho is more about the type of pho broth as to how good it is. I’ve had beef, chicken, pork and vegetarian and liked them all.
