I picked up some cool shit to play with today. I got a bottle of macadamia nut oil which I’m going to try out in salad dressing and possibly some green beans. It’s super high in monounsaturated fats and acts to lower cholesterol. It’s got a high smoke point and is loaded with omega 3’s and almost no omega-6 fats (I think the ratio is like 10 or 15:1 3 to 6.
I got some Italian sweet cherry balsamic vinegar and some California red jalapeño and garlic olive oil. I’m going to try that olive oil on some baked focaccia.
Update was I bought the bourbon peppercorn tenderloin meal with green beans and onions and mashed sweet potatoes (feeds 2 for like18.00 fresh market thing). I used the macadamia oil to sauté off some sliced criminis for the bourbon peppercorn sauce. Mac oil worked great for that. Of course I jazzed up everything they give you but decided on just straight olive oil for the green beans because it’s way less expensive. So the mashed sweet potatoes got raw cane sugar, butter and Vietnamese cinnamon. I baked a piece of French bread i had frozen and used the jalapeño-garlic-olive oil on that. It was delicious. I’m still waiting to try the sweet cherry balsamic.

The shit that floats to the top when making cheese:

As someone who eats neither whey nor cheese as a general rule, they're pretty good. It's part of the cheese making process for some cheeses where they add the stuff that makes the milk clot. It's cut and that's what it is, pieces of the clotted cheese.
I've never been to Culvers, so I can neither confirm or deny their curd standards.
There's one about 2 blocks from where I live. I tried their chicken soup one time and it was good for fast food. I think they advertise as Ohio or Wisconsin butter burgers or something. They usually have lines, so I'm assuming some people like it. My daughter said their shakes are pretty good, and they usually have a different flavor every day.
And finally, this one goes out to cdevaney. As much as I rep out for Buffalo and the food we eat up that way, I usually forget to knock on salt rising bread. My mother-in-law calls it sock toast. But all my kids will eat it for whatever reason. Maybe it stinks but tastes okay? Idk. I don't usually eat shit that I don't like the way it smells, so it's a no for me. And it smells like fucking dirty socks.
