One of the benefits of the pandemic was that I started listening to a podcast that was sponsored by GT. Otherwise I probably never would've been curious enough to try it. I steer clear of any with ginger and/or tumeric and have been very happy. S/O to lemon berry, BTW.

I like humm and the local, big easy kumbucha. The fruits flavors are where it's at, imo. Kevita in a pinch but it's not my favorite.
I drink a coffee milk every morning and then a yellow Red Bull at work. Otherwise it’s sparkling, no flavor and preferably spring, mountain or rainwater - often accompanied by bourbon or whiskey. And raw juice. We made some killer apple juice from the NC apple orchard where we got multiple kinds of apples. One juice was pink, two were brown and one was light yellow. Then last night I needed to clean the refrigerator so I did two store bags of apples, a bag of baby carrots a few leaves of spinach some celery and 3 small beets. It’s pretty sweet for vegetable juice (and apple), and delicious. Health by the glass.
I am currently drinking a Richards rainwater which are too expensive. Once I get somewhere to live, I’ll probably grab my soda machine from Florida that I got for Xmas but haven’t used yet. That way I can get ozarka or whatever and make it myself when I want to.
lol. I used to like soft drinks but lost a taste for them in the corn syrup era. I don’t mind a real sugar soda a couple times a year. What I dislike most is the low or no calorie sodas. Some motherfuckers thrive on some diet cokes and shit, but that all tastes like straight up chemicals to me.

Yeah, I have noticed since I have cut soft drinks out my diet that when I do drink one, I only drink half and I get that weird parched sensation. I won't drink diet drinks at all, but again my fluid intake is 99% water. I drink 64oz a day.
I hate diet sodas and I tend to get headaches when I drink them.

Aspertame (blue packets like "nutri"-sweet) is known to cause headaches for some and tastes like chemicals. Saccharin (shitty pink packets of sweet-n-low or drops like sweeta), which I have no idea how anyone thinks this shit tastes good, apparently doesn't cause cancer anymore but is still shitty and tastes completely artificial. The others are chemical concoctions. Sucralose (yellow packets like spelnda) may or may not be that bad, but it's still franken-sugar. I don't know enough about Stevia (green packets) other than it's got some potential side effects.

I remember drinking Tab at a hanger, which was really a bar, by a field that my dad used to play football with his friends at. I'm sure lots of shit is wrong in that memory, but I definitely drank Tab. I'm talking EARLY 80s. I was 5 when my parents divorced and it was sometime after that.

I don't know about diet drinks, but I know they say that if you cut cokes out of your diet completely you can lose up to 10lbs a year or something. I read once that heavy coke drinkers could lose up to 60lbs if cut out completely, which is wild. Although it seems high.

A 20 oz bottle of Coke has 240 calories. A pound of fat contains about 3500 calories. In theory, then, you lose a pound for roughly every 14.6 Cokes you don’t drink. If a person drinks 2 bottles a day, that’s 730 bottles per year or about 50 pounds.
That’s way oversimplified because it basically assumes you were breaking even when drinking the sodas, everyone’s metabolism is different, and there are a bunch of other variables that affect the speed of weight loss, but it still shows that drinking regular soda adds a shit ton of calories into a person’s diet.
Diet soda doesn’t have the calories itself, but it has apparently been linked strongly with weight gain and obesity. As I understand it, they think the artificial sweeteners confuse your body and end up making you feel hungrier and, like pablo said, craving sweet things because you taste the sweet, so your body expects sugar but doesn’t actually get it so it keeps wanting it.

The dude had beer and regular coke to drink. No water or anything else. There are few beverages I hate more than a regular coke. I woke up SO thirsty and I still couldn't down the coke. Not that coke is overly hydrating, but if it was a diet or something, I would have chugged it to at least hold me until we were on the road.

Local and great former-ramen house Kin has gone to a fried chicken centric menu. We had it today. Special shit. Chicken was absolutely cooked perfectly without a drop of notable grease in the finished product. It was super crunchy (probably had some panko in the breading) with some type of chili paste-ketchup dipping sauce. I usually rep for Gus’s because it’s also so great. But this might even be better.
Just before bed I’m in the middle of making a radical stock which I never tried before. I got shrimp shells, refrigerator leftovers of onion, garlic, carrots, then some fresh cilantro, limes (would have preferred lemons), bell and jalapeño peppers, coriander seeds black peppercorns salt white pepper cayenne smoked paprika bay thyme a dash or two of soy, balsamic and Worcestershire, etc. house smells like heaven probably should. I hope it works.
I'm pretty consistent with what I drink. Coffee first thing in the morning, then at least one bottle of water. Diet Coke or fizzy water with lunch. Afternoon coffee and another bottle of water. With dinner it can vary; I'll usually do juice or fizzy water, or a beer or two if I don't have work the next day.
I started with the Diet Coke the first time I went about losing weight, and after a while I kinda just started to see the calories and high sugar of regular Coke to be a bit of a turnoff so I just stuck with the diet. Will still have regular soda every so often but it's usually an indulgence. When there's also pizza and cannabis involved I've been known to go through nearly a whole two-liter in a day, but I have no desire to do that with diet coke. I don't experience any headaches or changes to my appetite when I drink it
Also worth noting that my (occasionally unhealthy) dieting phase(s) led to me developing quite a high tolerance for bad tastes. When I'm too lazy to make a fresh brew I'll drink a cup of black coffee that's been sitting since the morning without really thinking much of it. Occasionally straight from the pot. Sweet & Low doesn't really bother me either.
For the past two weeks or so I’ve been craving the idea of making pretzel brownies. I tried developing a recipe for some last night; when I looked at other people who tried similar things it seemed that the pretzels held their own in the batter just fine; when I did it though you could taste them but they lost their crunch. I assumed they’d retain their texture like, say, walnuts do but I guess not. I added pretzels to the buttercream I made for them though and that tasted absolutely incredible. It’s a good idea, but I know it can be developed into a great one, I’m just not sure how. If I’m changing the batter, I might add a lot of chocolate chips instead (I added some to the batter in this recipe and they added a nice bit of extra chocolate boost but not sure if it would be too much to add more) or I might do a chocolate/caramel batter instead. I also think it might work well as a fudgy cookie instead but not sure how to make that work.
Not going to include a picture because the buttercream looked rather messy when spread so just imagine it yourself here. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as I come back to this idea every once in a rare while!

Years of grad school drinking the shitty free coffee has given me a lot of coffee tolerance. I don't mind old coffee that's been sitting around, though I usually put it over ice rather than heat it up.

I made some chocolate brownies last week and added some salted caramel chips and tossed some flakey salt on top. Soooo good.
