Just caught up on the FA signings and there’s a lot of overpaying going around.
Tyrann Mathieu is not the same player after 2 (?) ACL tears and doesn’t deserve that amount of money. Solid starter, but the Chiefs let name recognition get the best of them. Foles seems overpaid especially since no one else really wanted him? But if you think he’s the guy, whatever. The Collins deal is kinda silly. I like the Cardinals getting Suggs but only if his role is limited. The dudes 36. Him, CJ, Bosa, Peterson, and Budda led by Vance Joseph could be top 5.
The Bills deal was reportedly a swap of first rounders, 9 for 20. I'd call that a win for Buffalo but I'm biased.
Maybe but there could still be a lot of great talent that could slip to 9. Plus $54M is a lot of money. I think that was the biggest concern teams had.
It's a lot of money. The Bills have a lot of money but I'm fine with it not working out.

E: I also like that Humphries deal a lot.
The scenario doesnt exist where Foles wpuld be worth an average of 18 mil per year but not 22 imo.

Damn, apparently we offered 9.5 per which I was 100% fine with. Texans and safeties don't have a great history, he's one of the few who was actually good while playing here. 14 is a lot though.
yeah they're in a good position to win their division with Pit falling apart, and Bal losing a bunch of good defensive guys (lol Cincy what are you doing!), but I still don't think theyll be better than us, Colts, Chiefs, Chargers, Pats. And Odell is good but he's not as good as Brown, it's more of a long term win than anything to get him.
Ravens must have gotten nervous about Cleveland’s pass catching duo. They gave Earl a contract on par with Le’veon Bell’s deal. I was hoping Thomas would end up with Dallas, but they were never going to pay that.

I hope people keep counting out the Steelers like this. The backfield was arguably better without Bell last year than with the year before. Brown is a loss as the best WR in the game, but JuJu is fine and I think they'll be able to replicate 70% of Brown's production with much less drama. The Browns are still the Browns, and the Steelers are still the Steelers. And ain't nobody care about the Ravens.

the ravens won the division (just got earl), the browns have gotten better on paper, and the steelers are getting worse on paper, that's really all it is. they're due for a stinker of a season.

They also just got Mark Ingram who has not been overused here in New Orleans as we always employ multiple backs and limit wear-and-tear usage where we can. I thought he was an excellent complimentary back with Alvin Kamara. So I'm disappointed to see him go. But for the $15/3 years (there must be some additional incentives available with that contract) he supposedly got with Baltimore, it was time for Ingram to hit a nice payday. I'm not much of a Ravens fan, but I'll be for Ingram for most of the rest of his career.

The Ravens will regress. Even with adding Thomas they lost more on D than gained. They'll have a tougher schedule and teams will have an offseason to scheme against Lamar Jackson. Could see the Steelers/Browns battling it out and either winning the division with 9 or 10 wins.
I like the OBJ trade for fantasy purposes because I could do a keeper on Mayfield (took him in the last round of my league's draft last season)

I think King T is echoing some pundits who claim the Jags way overpaid because they were bidding against themselves. No one else was anywhere close to this neighborhood so the Jags may have crippled themselves with this contract in the future from signing other FAs because they overpaid here. If he's the guy they didn't overpay but a third of Foles starts have featured a QBR in low 80s or worse.

The bold is basically what I'm saying. Knowing the way our GM works, there are likely provisions that will only make this deal burdensome for this season and next.
Again, there is no scenario I can think of where that extra 2-4 million matters this year or next. We needed to sign Foles in an aggressive fashion to make sure he actually comes to our shitty market, or not sign him at all.
This conversation, imo, is similar to when people pretend that a QB could hypothetically be worth it at number 10 overall in the draft, but not at number 1 overall. Deshaun Watson was either going to be worth it at #1 or not worth a first or second rounder at all IMO. If you think you have a guy, you make sure to get him.
And even if there was a piece that we definitely needed to find $3 million for, we would just make room in other ways without it being nearly as big of a deal as risking losing Foles. Again, this is all provided you actually think Foles can be a top 12-14 QB.
Finally, I only think this way about the QB position because of how valuable it is.
