Biden should release all documents related to the JFK and RFK assassinations, proving the CIA wasn’t directly involved. Like blame it on anti-Castro Cubans going rogue from Project Mongoose or whatever. Then the CIA should take out RFK Jr in the most blatant way possible.

About a couple months ago, I was at the bar and a friend of mine was arguing with some random old dude about Israel and Palestine.
She turns to me as is like, you wanna defend me here? To which I respond, I definitely agree with you. I just feel like its a waste of my time trying to argue with people who aren't going to change their opinion anyway.
I also want to say, I get the whole protest vote thing. I voted for Jill Stein twice. Back when I was living in Connecticut, I was involved in the Green Party. I was idealistic and down for some activism
And then I saw no progress from voting third party, got burned out, and let Bacon guilt trip me into voting for Biden. And I'll do it again too. Cause Abe Simpson is better than Orange Mussolini, and that's the only real choices we have now.

100% and lots of times people just want to argue for the sake of arguing or to show how much smarter / morally correct they are. It can be a good time but sometimes nobody cares that someone is right when there's no stakes involved
The battle to remove/ bury I94 has picked up a bit in MN. It's going to be interesting how the larger stakeholders get involved since community organizations are starting to make a good push.

The thing here too is that RFK is easily the least serious third party candidate in my life time. Gary Johnson was more or less qualified to be president and was running a campaign based in reality. Trying to talk someone out of voting for him in 2016 was an entirely different exercise than RFK. Johnson’s platform was fantastical, but RFK’s reality is fantastical.
Vaccines don’t cause autism. Pesticides don’t make you trans. The covid vaccine didn’t kill Hank Aaron. The Biden administration telling Twitter that the covid vaccine didn’t kill Hank Aaron is not a threat to democracy. The CIA didn’t kill JFK. Tanning your balls doesn’t heal your mitochondria.
RFK is not dealing in reality and people who are buying what he’s selling aren’t either. His platform doesn’t deserve to be legitimized with even a protest vote, but no about of bulllying his supporters (no matter how cathartic it may be, and I’m no saint here it is cathartic sometimes) is gonna change peoples minds. All you can really do is continue to point out all the wild shit and articulate why it’s wrong instead of just laugh at it and hope people who are on the fence about him stay away and people who are in deep eventually see the light.

I provided comments in one their comment periods. I’m about 1.5 miles off the i94 corridor.
The initial plan options were pretty underwhelming.
I want a full removal or a freeway cap thru the entire section and return the entire land back to the community.

Ya this process has been going on for a long time, went to a engagement thing back in 2016. I'm maybe 500 ft away right now. Long term, removal is the way to go but its at odds with the low density zoning approach in st Paul especially with zero progress around Allianz.94 cover could push st Paul to density outside of major corridors but I'm skeptical. The way st. Anthony & Concordia are integrated are of more concern than lane distribution for me.
My practical end goal is partial cover with sound/ visual dampening throughout and prioritize long term build over downtown to s.mpls.
A reasonable compromise could be to move 94 to the beltway around, and then have stubs using part of the existing freeways.
St Paul - It looks like maybe can put 94 on the current 694. Then switch 694 to what's currently 94 between 35E and 494.
Mpls - Then change the north-south part from 394 to 694 to be 894.
I've never been to Minnesota, so not sure what parts of the highway are actually used much more than others.
LD Think of this i94 removal effort as a simpler version of Boston’s Big Dig.
494 and 694 create a circular beltway around the entire twin cities metro. If you live inside the 494/694 loop you’d largely be considered to be urban living (MPLs and STP are both entirely within the loop). Outside the loop and it’s definitely suburbs. The airport lies within the loop and the Mall of America is across from the airport on the other side of 494.
There’s no need to “move” i94 between St Paul and MPLS. Both 494 and 694 are also part of the interstate system and are meant to be used as the alternates to using i94 thru the heart of the city.
We also have a light rail line that runs parallel to this stretch of i94. The light rail connects Minneapolis and St Paul and they are extending light rail and bus rapid transit (BRT) with lines running to both downtowns for a more connected metro.
In all the local comments and events I’ve attended, the people that are complaining about removal are people that live in the suburbs. They aren’t like hoffm83n who actually lives in the area and gets the brunt of the noise and pollution and headache of a major interstate cutting thru your neighborhood.
As if we needed any more evidence of how RFK Jr.'s campaign was one big pile of steaming shit, there was a video unearthed this morning of his NY State Campaign Director stating that having RFK Jr. on the ballot will help Trump defeat Biden. As we see time and time again, they're saying the quiet part out loud. FUCK these independent posers, Republicans-in-disguise:
Rita Palma, the Kennedy campaign’s state director in New York, has repeatedly made the case, including in a meeting with Empire State Republicans, that efforts to put Kennedy on the ballot in New York will help “get rid of Biden,” which she called her “No. 1 priority,” and make it easier for Trump to win the historically Democratic state.
“The only way that Trump can even, remote possibility of taking New York is if Bobby is on the ballot. If it’s Trump vs. Biden, Biden wins. Biden wins six days, seven days a week. With Bobby in the mix, anything can happen,” Palma said in a video of the meeting with Republicans in New York viewed by CNN.
Sorry, Biden. I’m not falling for your student loan debt relief promises again.
I qualified last time around, followed closely for months as we waited to see how SCOTUS would react, just be heartbroken. Thankfully, I’ve since finally reached the ten years of working for a non-profit and 120 qualified payments to qualify for the PSLF program. However, it takes ~90 business days to process and it’s only been about 2 months.
Just got an email last week that all applications will be put on hold starting in May while they revamp the process to “make it simpler” and go through the education department directly. And today, these announcements. Says they’ll restart in July (yeah right).
I swear to god if they fuck up my application and postpone it another x amount of months just to get blocked by SCOTUS again, and then it causes me up have to apply all over again, I’m going to flip TF out.
Because the longer this drags out, the more likely the entire program gets shit canned and I’m SOL

He's already canceled $146 billion in debt for 4 million people, and this is after SCOTUS blocked his initial plans. That's nearly 10% of all student debt. If you think he's done nothing since the SCOTUS ruling, you're not paying attention, and if this new plan gets blocked somehow, he'll keep working to find ways to provide relief.
PSLF was a shitshow and effectively worthless until he came along, and he's still working to improve it. And if you haven't looked into the SAVE program for yourself, you should do so.
With that being said, I’d love it if this new strategy works. But I have no reason to believe that it will.
You must be a riot at parties...jesus christ.
Just look at all the facts that braundiggity laid out. You seem like the type that must bitch at something just for the sake of bitching. Positive strides have been made on this front, with people *actually* seeing their debt forgiven after so many years of going around in circles and getting nowhere.
I guess since your boy RFK Jr. is a total joke, being exposed and called out countless times for his backwards, hypocritical, and downright bizarre views, you chose to pivot to this topic. And yet again, surprise surprise, Biden isn't holding up his end of the bargain eh? GTFO
I like how jakicker admits twice that SCOTUS blocked the forgiveness, but still blames Biden and his "tricks".
As if Republican secretary of state's, like the one in my state, aren't also a massive reason they got blocked (all the more reason to vote for serious candidates up and down ballot)
Imagine the 3 new justices a 2024 Trump/RFK Jr. presidency would result in. Lots of student loan forgiveness I bet.
The broad-based student loan forgiveness he promised during his 2020 campaign failed and he duped a lot of people (myself included) into thinking he could do it. In hindsight, it’s pretty obvious he knew it was a long shot to ever pass.
PSLF is still a total shit show. It’s been a huge pain in the ass for almost an entire year now, and I still haven’t been approved. The first time I applied it took from like Aug to Dec for them to come back and say I still needed 5 payments (as of Aug). So I had made four more since then. In Jan when I made the 120th payment, I applied again. They already have all my info from the previous application, and they’re actively tracking it each month now and giving me updates. Yet I applied at the end of Jan and it’s still a 90 business day process that is not going to finish by the time they shut it down in May.
Not Biden’s fault that PSLF is run terribly, but it certainly is not easier because of him. He gets no credit for improving it.
After being burned the last time, I can’t look at this any other way than it being a campaign tactic that they know won’t be resolved in the courts before the election. I do not trust it. I have valid reasons for not trusting it.
His support amongst young voters is dropping and he’s double-dipping in the student loan relief pot to try to turn things around.

What is Trump and RFK's student loan forgiveness platform?

It absolutely is easier because of Biden. PSLF was rejecting over 99% of applicants before he came into office. He cleaned up the policies and it has forgiven over $60 billion in loan debt in the past couple years. I can’t find the precise numbers but I’m 99% sure that’s more than it forgave through the entirety of the program until he came into office.
Feel salty all you want but you’re not living in reality if you don’t think he’s been transformative in erasing student debt. No president has come remotely close to what he’s done. And again, look into the SAVE program if you haven’t, because it is also a fantastic program, erasing debt entirely for low income folks and significantly reducing both payments and the impact of interest for nearly everyone else.
Y’all keep confusing me with someone who thinks we have a good candidate in this election. I simply do not like Biden or Trump, the only two candidates that have a shot at winning. RFK isn’t even on the ballot in Louisiana. As it stands, I couldn’t vote for him even if I wanted to.
LD is the only person who has recognized that I’m just a stereotypical disillusioned person who wants to protest vote out of frustration, while being in a meaningless state where my vote doesn’t matter anyway (another source of frustration).
And much of your points regarding the flaws of the RFK candidacy are valid, which is why I haven’t been disagreeing with you. I’ve stopped defending him. But I also don’t dislike him to the level that y’all do.
The best way I can explain it to you why I come across as attacking Biden but giving RFK passes is because I don’t actually think RFK can win. Biden is our only hope to beat trump. And he’s very flawed imo.
I hope some of you can at least try to understand where my feelings are coming from. And if you can’t that’s fine. I hope this is the last time I attempt to defend myself. I’m going to just try to ignore it and move on.
Your concerns about RFK stealing more votes from Biden is valid. I’m still not convinced that’s the case. So I get why y’all are also frustrated. I don’t currently have the capacity to fight for Biden. It’s still only April so time will tell. But again, and I cannot stress this enough, my vote in Louisiana does not matter.

I did apply for SAVE (thanks for the recommendation btw) and was approved for a reduced rate, yet it was never reflected on my payments due. Calling them about it never resolved anything so I just paid more for a few months until I got to my 120 payments.
Also, I was unaware of how few people were ever approved for PSLF prior to Biden. I personally know people who were approved before, so I assumed it was always working. It’s still a huge pain in the ass. It’ll be worth it if I’m ever approved.

It's more that your complaints paint this picture of non-Trump politicians that they are all just as bad as (or worse) than Trump when we know for a fact Trump and Republicans are significantly worse for everyone that isn't an evangelical Christians. That's how he tricked you in 2016, with his "well they're all bad so why not just go with the worst? At least I tell it like it is" act.
It discourage others from educating themselves on the (few) upsides of Biden/Democrats and the (many) downsides of Trump/Republicans. When you distort the successful blocking of (the few) good Democrat policies by republicans as "the failings of democrats", it is gleeful misinformation while offering no alternative to fix said problem. It's lazy and borderline purposeful ignorance.
There are plenty of valid reasons to criticize democrats, but student loan forgiveness can be proven with hard numbers, and every single Biden-alternative is worse (because they have no hard numbers, because they are bad faith actors).
When you find a candidate that is better at student loan forgiveness, please let us know, I agree we can go even further down the forgiveness route, but Biden's plan not working for you is not proof that the other 2 options will give you any help.
