Same. I do not feel more optimistic. I actually like Harris more than most but I think this country is too racist and misogynist to elect a Black woman president.
Cooper's term limited, so he's out either way. Because of that and the fact that NC is a seriously important state-level election this year I tend to think he's the best option to run with Kamala, and they were campaigning together recently.
Harris Cooper feels like a repeat of Clinton Kaine and we all know how that turned out. I’d prefer Cooper Harris only because I think they’d have better odds of winning running Cooper or Newsom.

I think that’s a legit concern in this country but not something that can’t be overcome with a legit ground game and campaign strategy. The states that decide this will be tight regardless.
However. Part of the reason for this was damage control so they don’t actually lose ground down-ballet. At least that’s covered better now.

Superseding a Black sitting VP with a white man would be such a slap in the face to Black people.

I haven't seen Cooper speak enough to form a strong opinion as far as how he compares to Kaine, but he has remained remarkably popular given NC's shift from looking purple back to more red and I think he'd almost definitely be better than Kaine at least. How much better is the question. But Cooper is definitely not someone to put at the top of the ticket.

Also, Donald Trump will now be the oldest presidential candidate in American history. I can’t wait for there to be 50,000 articles about that in the media and questions for him about it constantly.

Tim Kaine seemed too boring and brought nothing to the table. Now watch as Mark Warner tries to weasel his way in and do the same thing.
In my younger days I thought Warner was an obvious presidential nominee at some point but my god, at this point that would be such a horrible decision. (So they'll probably do it.)

My friend was elected as a Biden delegate for the San Antonio/Austin area and he's been keeping me up on some of the behind-the-scenes during this. He just shared this text with me:
the dumbest timeline is trump winning but the second dumbest timeline is kamala becoming president after winning exactly 0 delegates in the 2020 election

Jesus christ, people will find any reason to doom and gloom.
Biden's out, enjoy it and go vote. You don't have to be excited for the replacement, you just need to convince about 40,000 people in 7 states to not vote trump
Truly this is the democrats race to lose. They should be hammering the GOP and Trump with so much right now.
If Trump runs in November and beats Kamala Harris then I am truly left wondering if this country just wants to be/deserves to be a hellscape.
This is fucking wild. But I'm suddenly feeling better about Harris at the top of the ticket than I was a few hours ago.
Now there's only one too-old white guy in the race, and his cognitive abilities and incredible tendency to ramble and lie have to be big issues.
If the Dems don't tout Biden's accomplishments right now, especially the economic stuff, and use that as a starting point for Harris to build from, they're stupid and will still lose. She has to be an extension of Joe's successes and the new, more energetic presence everyone seems to want.
