Each count carried a $5,000 fine and up to four years in prison. So lets say they gave hime 18 months which got reduced to a year? I mean thats something. And how far can you delay that.
I don't think this affects his voting eligibility sadly since it's a state case in NY.
Also I don't think this is going to affect the election much one way or another, but at the margins in swing states there's a chance.
Yeah. It was a little confusing but I think read that in Florida they defer to what the state of your conviction says so as long as he isn't in prison he should be able to vote. Could also be misremembering or misinterpreting.
Meanwhile Politico (far right DC tabloid) is trying to start WW3 while we all laugh at Trump
Remember when Politico was interesting and they did their job? Yeah, a whole other decade.
I didn't follow political tabloids as much pre-2014 but they always seemed like the NYT Op Ed pages where conservative miscues begged the question "How is this bad for liberals?"
Fines at the very least, but there is a SLIM chance of jail time. Pretty unlikely for these charges and a first time convict, though.

NY passed a felon rights law in 2021 (good). Basically if he’s not incarcerated, he’ll be able to vote because NY has made it so once you’re no longer incarcerated, you can vote. Florida is super restrictive if it’s a florida felony but otherwise they follow the applicable state. Now, if trump get thrown in jail or house arrest for say 6 months this fall, he could potentially be in voting timeout for the election.
Edit: just a couple years ago DeSantis ran a sting on convicted florida felons basically tricking them into thinking they were allowed to vote again.

In Florida, felons convicted of a felony "not of moral turpitude" had their voting rights restored a couple years ago as long as they've completed their sentence including probation/parole and made full payment of restitution/fines/etc. Trump would be fine even if he were convicted there, as long as he wasn't still in jail/on probation.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?

Not to get TOO policky but Trump's campaign hs gotta be breathing a big sigh of relief that the "he called a black dude the n word" story broke this morning and immediately got swallowed in the news cycle.
What are their options? I'm assuming nothing more than a fine and probation?
I'm expecting nothing more than a fine and probation. But, it's something. I just want to be happy for a few minutes.
Yeah. Probably will be a harsh lecture if that’s all. Could be that he gets jail time but suspended provided he doesn’t break other laws. The judge can consider things like remorse or lack of remorse, chances that a felon would commit another felony and shit like that when it comes to sentencing. He’s attacked the judge which won’t matter. But he attacked witnesses and even the jury. He attacks the court daily and has violated his gag order plenty of times. Whatever he gets won’t be nearly enough considering the rest of us would do the better part of the maximum available sentence if we behaved as he did.

All the contempt of court will be a factor in his sentencing though. Very real chance he gets some jail time. Whether he ever has to serve it is the better question

That also remains to be seen. I guess because it was a white collar crime he wasn’t remanded to custody. I don’t know shit much about NY white collar criminal statutes. But since the judge can consider all of those elements jail time is on the table. I’m obviously only guessing but I’d think he would get a suspended sentence if he is given jail time. Worst case bet would be some sort of house arrest.
Before putting on basketball I’m watching Michael Cohen’s first interview since the verdict on msnbc with his lawyer Dayna Perry. They brought out that Trump atty Blanche (?) was on another network and claimed that all courtroom decisions were in cooperation with Trump. Cohen called him a Sloat which stood for stupidest lawyer of all time because an attorney shouldn’t listen to the client on how to try a case. Haha. As one who has way too many lawyers in my family…
Trump organization got 17 felonies, Trump the person 34, 17th letter of alphabet is Q. Double Qanon. Taylor Swift is 34 years old
34 +17 = 51 Obama was the first President to publicly mention Area 51. In 2023 NASA reveled the discovery of 17 exoplanets with potential oceans under their icy surfaces. Which are a promising place to search for extraterrestrial life.
THIS is where it gets crazy. In May, Taylor Swift added new songs to the Eras Tour setlist to represent her latest album. Down Bad's production features this imagery....

I had a friend in high school that was vegetarian and would order a 7 layer burrito but without like 4 of the layers. I think the only way to get a vegetarian option in those days was a bean-less 7 layer. Essentially she ordered a guac, cheese and sour cream roll up. I picked one up for her while she held our spot in line for Tool in 2002. We got rail, they started with Sober. The rail moved several times. We also met Danny Careys parents that day, as they were a couple of 60 year olds with all access backstage passes taking photos of the line (so of course we asked how they got backstage passes). They were so proud of him (this was Wichita 2002). Anyways that's my 7 layer burrito story.
