Well, one group was elementary schoolers and the other was teenagers. He also got directions mixed-up. So it's more than just getting all of our mass shootings confused.

He just packages up other people's info in epic Twitter threads or whatever to appeal to people who think there's some grand unifying theory to the American political system besides "Republicans are bad." He's barely more respectable than Eric Garland. Maybe.

The thing about this is, and I mean no offense here, it's not particularly difficult to be a reporter. You just asked people questions and write down their answer then tell everyone about it. He's clearly capable of writing clear sentences and building a narrative and so on. The only possible conclusion here is that absolutely no one with any common sense or valuable information wants to talk to Seth Abramson.
Is social media (real people and bots) strong enough to lure more left-leaning voters toward chasing theories in a similar if not as extreme of a way as it already controls conspiracy minded right winger voters, many of whom buy into whatever obvious bullshit they are fed (pizza gate, fluoride in water, chemtrails, flat earth, Q, etc.)? It seems easy enough for dischord to be sewn in a post-logic and post-truth political world even if your average left leaning voter probably has more common sense and is hopefully less swayed by emotion and paranoia than Joe Nazi.
I don’t know. From the outside, there seems logically a fraction of a percentage that either the Clintons or Trumps (or Westminster or even the Russians) would have been involved in knocking someone off that had potential dirt on them. Lots of people have dirt on all these people, and only anti-Kremlin Russian players ever seem to be poisoned or radiated. Think of all the female accusers of Bill Clinton and Trump. They’re all still there. It doesn’t seem like a leap to suggest that someone could have looked the other way. But it does seem like a stretch to reframe a suicide as an ordered hit if that hit isn’t coming from a beef with a prison gang. Suicide isn’t fair to the victims. Nor is it fair to the judicial system since there are plenty of people who could have gotten caught up and possibly convicted of their crimes during a serious investigation. That all sucks. But so does cowardice.

Absolutely. Just look at how many people on the left were absolutely convinced without a doubt that Trump had colluded with Russia, and throughout the investigation praised Mueller's apparent no-nonsense commitment to justice. Then when his report was released that said they didn't find evidence of it, the conversation on the left just changed to whether or not Trump obstructed justice. A lot of people just dropped one of their core beliefs regarding Trump without a second thought in order to align themselves with the current liberal talking point, without ever actually seriously considering whether or not they were duped in regards to Trump/Russia. A lot of people A) disregarded that aspect of Mueller's report entirely, B) retreated further into tribal mentality by thinking that Mueller was just protecting his party because that's what Republicans do, or C) just moved on to a new topic of interest (obstruction). In any of these cases, we see people disregarding new information because it doesn't confirm what they already believe and the narrative of the group they belong to.
I agree that people left-of-center value rationality considerably more than the right, but we're only partially rational creatures. We're incredibly emotional, and incredibly social as well. The right media uses fear to manipulate viewpoints (fear of "invasion", losing status, fear of an America in decline), and the left media does as well (fear of fascism, of Trump himself, of an America in decline). Whether it's Trump or the Mexicans, everybody loves a bogeyman, and that gets exploited all over the place.
And this isn't to say that I don't think some fears are more legitimate and well-rounded than others, or that Trump did or didn't conspire with the Russians. I'm kinda at the point where I just don't know what information is trustworthy and what isn't, so I have largely moved my focus away from national politics and sensationalist media and towards improvements I can make within my own social circle. My point is just that most people are capable of believing a lot of wacky things as long as it enables them to maintain their identity with whatever groups they see themselves as belonging to.

And this isn't to say that I don't think some fears are more legitimate and well-rounded than others, or that Trump did or didn't conspire with the Russians. It's important to note that for some people they have tried their best to spread change among their social circles, but with often times heightened consequences. And to the point where I can't even be around people I've been friends with for years because there's a consequence to interact with people face to face as well. Some people, have to thread the needle much more finely just to make it through these years. And I think that is the point too.
I would personally bet on gross incompetence and him doing the deed himself, but it sure is fun to go at all my Trump friends on social media who are pushing the Clinton conspiracy with the Trump narrative.

Gross incompetence or hit job, this should be a non partisan issue. The head of the most widespread, well known, child sex trafficking ring and his rich and powerful friends were just seemingly let off the hook. Even if these people were not directly involved, you damn well know they had knowledge of the accusations that were thrown at Epstein. They were very public. It’s obviously to early to tell what repercussions, if any, the people who helped or associated with him will face. The fact he was able to die in one of the most secure and surveyed prisons in the US without having to face trial, after being labeled a flight risk before being jailed AND after one prior suicide attempt in prison is laughable. I don’t understand how people can defend the Clintons or the Trumps in this scenario. They both associated with this man who was a widely publicized pedophile and sex trafficker. Any asshole using google could have told you what this guy was accused of. You can’t tell me they didn’t know.

This isn’t tax evasion, this isn’t anywhere near a normal case. This is the rape and trafficking of children on a large scale. Rationalizing the fact he got off the prior charges on a sweetheart deal because he’s white is sad. Look at the people he associated with. Look at what positions they’ve been in. Look at what a lot of those associates have been accused of. There’s a pattern.

No, not at all. One of the guys from the podcast that tracks and ridicules Qanon said this yesterday,"One of the core delusions of QAnon is that genuine justice will ever be served to supremely powerful and well connected criminals." It's not only true but it points to some of the weirder things about Qanon. Most conspiracies theories comes from the side out of power or people that have experienced some deep, traumatic loss. Think 9/11, JFK, Obama truthers, etc. These people are in power. The people they want in charge are there. Yet Trump and co are so clearly shitty at their jobs that a conspiracy community has sprouted up explaining how there is some method to this insanity. Some larger world transforming goal just under the surface.
But I think if you look at the 2006-2007 investigations it's pretty easy to see why people might feel there was some cover up coming from the government. Even if the real answer is he's rich and powerful with plenty of friends in high places. I'd say it's likely people in government, finance, and entertainment pushed to have it sweep under the rug just because of their associations with him. More of an issue of branding and not wanting the media to look over decades of dealings with him. Which I think is a more plausible explanation than people in the Justice Department were directly trying to cover up connections to his pedophile ring.... at the behest of whomever.

Honestly, I don't think it's a question of sinking this low. It's always existed in the halls of power and the elites just don't actually really give much of a fuck to do anything about it.
It's not a much different pattern than everything else in the global economic system.

it is a rich people thing, but this is far bigger than the R. Kelly situation. The Kelly, Jackson and Weinstein scandals were disgusting and prime examples of how you can slip through the justice system with money and social influence. People on the highest level of power and political influence are implicated in this. In the era of believe women and not shaming victims, it’s hard for me to understand why people are trying to poke holes in the stories told by alleged victims, and documented in his address books and flight logs. Not saying you are. But it is happening all over right now.

They've been doing a good amount of campaign trail/conference type stuff lately. CPAC, Netroots and now Iowa State Fair. Some interview episodes with Yang and Williamson. They probably should take a little responsibility for Williamson becoming a meme candidate, as they did about half an episode jokingly backing her a couple months before the first debate. The Netroots episode was boring as shit but the CPAC episode was one of their best in a while. "CPAC on acid." Fucking hilarious and a lot of insightful commentary on the hellish state of the GOP.
Anyway, Virgil is the one that's more adept at traditional political culture. So he usually takes the lead on this sort of stuff. He's honestly not bad at it. No worse than a lot of the stuff out there.
