I know we all hate Biden but please still vote in November. This country won't survive if Trump gets to install a 7-2 Supreme Court.
no
Bidem fucking sucks but the party has shown themselves to not be worthy of support. They can rot.
Well it must be nice to have the privilege to think that way. I have close friends and family that would be profoundly hurt by the decisions that would come out of 7-2 Republican court. Roe V Wade would be overturned and LGBT rights and the ACA would be in serious jeopardy. Even if and when Dems regain the presidency and congress, that court could effectively neuter just about anything they pass.
But by all means, enjoy your Pyrrhic victory of owning the establishment Dems

Biden is trash, but yes, we need to think bigger here. Trump passing more inexperienced, biased judges into local appeals courts for another four years would also fuck us up beyond belief.
i think he will choose an african american woman. Stacey Abrams or Kamala Harris.
I'm fine with either one of those but prefer Abrams. However, I think Michelle Obama is the ultimate ace in the hole. She said she didn't want to be in politics, but I'm sure there is some money being bet on her at this point (about to go look it up so we can see how this unfolds). Biden-Obama wins a landslide (a personal bet I'd take with anyone). The others probably make it close. Black and old people do love Biden, so if he can bring in other left-based constituencies, he's got a realistic path. Sasha and Malia are 18 and 21 now, and Michelle ain't probably having grandkids for few years.

It's really fucking privileged of you that you can throw the millions upon millions of people who can't live through 4 years of Biden under the bus like this.
Still think what happened is Obama made some calls to Pete and Amy after Biden won SC and got them to drop out and endorse Biden. It was essentially over when those two dropped out pre-Super Tuesday.
my gut feeling is worth exactly zero, but of all the reasons laid out in the article my gut feeling is that biden won because of african american voters. we 100% need african american voters to put a D back in the white house.
that is true in the sense of those are the exact voters who pushed him over the edge, but before South Carolina black voters in the first three states were breaking roughly +10-15% Biden. Clyburn endorsed Biden in SC, something everyone in South Carolina politics says is a really big deal, he wins the black vote in SC by +40%. Then Amy and Pete drop out. It is hard to know what would have happened if Amy and Pete kept going into Super Tuesday, but I dont think that even a 20% edge with black voters on Super Tuesday with Amy and Pete in the race leads to the same results for Biden.

You clearly don't know a goddamn thing anout me. I'd suggest shutting the fuck up.

We're already fucked beyond belief. Maintaining a failed system isn't going to change that. It just kicks the can down the road.

Hey Superfurry,
Thanks for your work on the campaign. I know you're pissed, lots of people are. But it matters that you got involved.

Good one. So what it is you suggest then? Not vote or vote 3rd party and let Trump ruin tens/hundreds of millions of lives? I'd rather swallow my pride and vote for whoever the Dem nominee is so that fewer people suffer in the long run.
Look, it breaks my heart too that Bernie's out. I've volunteered on his campaign and voted for him in 2016 and 2020, but you're going against what HE wants us to do if you don't vote for the Dem in November.

The die is already cast, it doesn't matter who I vote for, if you could mind control every leftist on this forum into voting for the senile rapist with a d next to his name, it wouldn't make a lick of difference in the result.
Scolding people for their votes has proven to be a failed strategy

I think the point you’re missing (or just disregarding) here is that the system, as it is now, is already completely fucked and is already actively damaging tens/hundreds of millions of lives. And electing Biden doesn’t actually stop anyone from getting hurt because all it does is perpetuate that very, very broken system.
I get that you’re saying that re-electing Trump (allowing Trump to be re-elected by not voting) would make things even worse than they would be if Biden is elected. It’s not a completely invalid argument but it’s not necessarily a completely valid argument either.
Are you familiar with the Malcolm X quote, “If you stick a knife in my back nine inches and pull it out six inches, there's no progress. If you pull it all the way out that's not progress. Progress is healing the wound that the blow made. And they haven't even pulled the knife out much less healed the wound.”?
I think there’s a legitimate argument that voting for Biden is like voting to leave the knife buried all the way in.
And again, I see the argument that letting Trump win is like voting to push the knife in even further, although to push the metaphor about as far as it can go, I think there are some who think maybe eventually, it comes out the other side, the whole thing is scrapped, and we start over.
Ultimately, I’m probably going to end up voting for Biden. I don’t actually know yet, but regardless, I really cannot fault anyone for refusing to do that.
Vote your conscience, of course. I don't fault anyone who cannot stomach Biden. Biden is bad. The system is bad. However, short of an apocalyptic event (which currently appears avoidable), the bad system stays in place in 2020 no matter what happens. 4 more years of Trump is more bad, in my opinion. I will be voting for Biden.

I already had one of my friends posting on Facebook how they are likely not voting in November because they simply cannot bring themselves to choose between two sexual predators. My first instinct was to drop in the "You gotta vote", but it just feels different this time. I do not think I can summon the whatever to be on people about it right now.

All makes sense. Consider that we have got over 14,200 dead Americans not because the Democrats were playing politics with this “hoax.” Nothing is worse than what we have now. 14,000 fucking dead due to incompetence.
I know we all hate Biden but please still vote in November. This country won't survive if Trump gets to install a 7-2 Supreme Court.
Yes, Biden sucks and will probably lose but it's important to vote out republicans at local levels. I am not excited for Biden but I am excited to vote for the Dem governor candidate for Missouri.
All this aggression over a candidate who should be our president who decided, HEY MY EGO ISN'T SO BIG THAT I NEEEEED TO WIN OVER PEOPLE'S LIVES. This all sucks, don't lose yourself over it. Because I understand it, and have been there with past election seasons. Do what your conscious tells you, but don't not vote -- vote down ballot only if you need to - but as emoney said the dye is cast. Sanders is still smart for walking away, Wisconsin occurring was/is a mess and should never have happened -- applaud the decent man who opened up people's minds that I didn't think they could even affect.

Yep. This.
My sister isn't nearly as politically engaged/impassioned as me, but as a sexual assault survivor she's having just as hard a time with the news today as I am.
Doesn't help that our dad started in on some appalling rhetoric the other night of, "well, do we KNOW Tara is telling the truth..." Sister and I both had to walk out of the room to keep from screaming at him.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Our system may be broken, and voting for Biden won't change that, but refusing to vote for Biden sure as fuck isn't going to change it or slow it down either.
They separated children from their families and locked them in cages. We have white nationalists in high positions of power in the administration. They've gutted environmental protections. They're actively anti-democratic and seek to erode any and all political oversight. They've stacked the courts with judges that will influence the course of our country for decades. And you're gonna not vote against that? Because "fuck the system"?
I really can't fathom that line of thinking. I've been actively against Biden since he entered the race but there are too many people who stand too much to lose from another four years of Trump. Have we forgotten how actually fucking awful the past three and a half years have been?
Edit: And you're not just voting for Biden, you're voting for an entire cabinet of decision-makers that aren't Trump's cronies.
Edit2: Impersonal "you" here. Not referring to anyone specifically.

Honestly, him continuing his campaign was effectively a public health hazard. He couldn't continue in good conscience after seeing how Wisconsin and SCOTUS decided to put lives at risk
Interesting how this responsibility only fell to Bernie. You do realize there are other primaries besides the presidential one?
Anyway, if Biden loses, it won't be because he couldn't get 10-15% of radical bernie fans, it'll be because people who suffer under the status quo aren't gonna be motivated to stand in line for 3 hours or take time off from the job that's putting food on the table
That includes latinos who remember the Obama administrations immigration (deportation) policy and can't be bothered to vote for more of the same
That includes the people who still rack up life-changing medical bills under the ACA
That includes a big chunk of the working class who never votes because nobody ever gives them something to vote for

Some small part of me thinks that there will still be some form of monkey business and he'll be swapped out by the DNC at the last minute for someone else. Seems very, very unlikely but at this point I wouldn't be surprised considering all the other rule changing and background dealings that have been going on.
Also, many online are already planting the seeds for blaming Bernie and his supporters for Biden losing. It's the gameplan for the dems to make the progressives look more like the problem.

Sorry yall, he's not wrong.
fuck that guy and all left leftwing and rightwing bullshit talking points which only work if someone allows themselves to be taken in by someone else's play for groupthink.
Another key point is that Biden is not an 8 year presidential option. He's a transitional figure. He's running because he understands world and national shit and knows how to deal with it. That doesn't mean he's going to be a success if elected. But it does mean that we're getting at most 4 years from him. If he lasts that long, it's a hand-off to the VP. If he doesn't, change comes sooner.

Guess who's gonna get 100% of the blame tho?
Lol you're so dramatic. No one gets 100% of the blame. Even in 2016 people blamed Bernie-or-busters, Bernie himself, people who stayed home, Hillary, Hillary supporters, Trump, Trump supporters, the DNC, the political elite, the far left, the far right, reddit, 4chan, Black voters, white voters, rural America, the uneducated, the 1%... Everyone blames everyone, and everyone's usually right, to various degrees. So yea it'll be those groups you mentioned, and the Bernie-or-busters, and a bunch more people.
Mostly I'll blame Trump supporters, because they're the ones actually voting for him.

Yes he is. Warren supporters broke at best 50-50 between Biden and Sanders after she dropped out. Blaming her for the failures of the Sanders is beyond shameful.
