I PRAY something happens soon se we stop burning down the country and spreading a deadly virus. I think there are valid arguments for the burning down of things but at a certain point it actively hurts citizens. I’m seeing reports about local businesses, some without insurance, being burned down or looted.

My nearest shopping street in DC got looted a few hours ago. Lots of groups of young people wearing masks and hoodies even walking past our residence.

Felt scary AF TBH when it hits you so close.
It fortunately hasn’t hit me close and I would be tremendously shocked if it did, at least at my parents house. I hope that a strong leader can rise out of this. It could be that I’m still a young adult and didn’t have the life experience or maturity yet but it feels like there’s no accountability anymore. Was it always like this? I feel like less than a decade ago when someone did something bad, they faced consequences.
They're shooting and arresting medics aswell now huh? That's a litteral war crime according to the Geneva Convention protocol II.
As of february 2020, the US did not ratify the Protocol (together with countries such as Syria, India, Iraq etc.). Nice.
I think even the use of teargas (which is being used liberally nationwide) is forbidden in war, and the "collective punishment"s of the Los Angeles mayor refusing COVID testing for his constituents and the city of Chicago refusing reduced priced meals to children are war crimes as well. Also, rubber bullets are generally meant to be fired at the ground so they ricochet into crowds to disperse them. They are not meant to be leveled at people's heads and faces in a way that maims them or could possibly kill them.
Americans are now occupied by our own militarized police force, which obviously commits war crimes because that's what our armed forces do in other countries anyway. Chickens, welcome home!

According to this source, the use of tear gas is allowed in the case of riot control. And according to this source, the use of rubber bullets is also allowed but I feel like police is making a lot of advantage of the carnage happening so yeah.. You're right about the last part and seeing Trump trying to implement 'antifa' to oppress 'the left' the same way Bush implemented 'terrorism' after 9/11 to oppress muslims is worrysome.

Tear gas is illegal *in warfare* and rubber bullets aren't meant to be used to blind people.
Be careful about words like "riots", also. These are, for the most part, not riots. Even when looting or other riot-like activities have taken place, that's generally not when teargas has been deployed. Most of the looting I've seen online has gone undeterred. There's also this phenomenon of pallates of bricks and jars of gasoline seemingly lying around. "Riots" are what the authorities want. They are encouraged because this perception is encouraged. They want photos of police kneeling with protestors (before lobbing tear gas at them) and rioters looting to show on the nightly news.
On teargas and rubber bullets, these weapons are considered "less lethal", which means exactly what it says. They absolutely can kill people, though that is theoretically not their intent. If these cops keep aiming rubber bullets at peoples' heads and using tear gas in public spaces, especially those where there may be children, these weapons become much more damaging.

Yes, I know. I simply stated what the law says about the use of those things. These are 100% protests and should be protected by the first amendment in the same way last month there were some people who... protested to get thei hair done.
By the looks of most video's spreading around, I don't see any difference between China oppressing HK people protesting. If anything, I saw some tips and tricks floating around to deflect tear gas from spreading or handy tools to bring when protesting. It's insane.
"You have to dominate or you'll look like a bunch of jerks, you have to arrest and try people," the President told governors in a call from the basement White House Situation Room.
From his fucking bunker. What a cheese dick.
I know it’s not the real bunker where he spent Friday night, but still.
I have said very little, and read every post here. I'm ready to be on the streets if they call. My tiredness is turning into focused anger.
There's a trend of local commenters who like to get their fun by saying, "Oh. Guess the liberals decided the pandemic is over?". I want to respond, "No. It's still happening and they know it. That's how messed up everything is."
Still okay with shooting unarmed civilians...just try not to kill them, ya know? Shoot them in the leg or something
Most anyone I have spoken to that knows firearms will tell you hitting an extremity on a moving target that is coming toward you is really, really difficult so yeah, maybe let's take the gun out as the first step of the equation.

If the commentators are on social media, start putting them on blast for their absurdity. Most accounts show most people in masks across these rallies (unlike comparable events with anti-covid protesters).
If they are TV and ESPECIALLY radio: Call in. Call into the station and keep doing it until they have to actively communicate with you over this.
Police want to serve and protect?! Give people masks and allow them to rally against violence against them. PROVE to us your worth as citizens instead of following orders.
After seeing multiple videos from friends, every flare up in the protest yesterday was instigated by the cops. Twice they tried to pull random people from the crowd, both times the people were pulled back into the crowd and protected by the people. Both times they pepper sprayed everyone in a 10 feet radius. None of the window breaking happened until tear gas was deployed. All instigated by the police.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
