What are the progressive critiques of Neera Tanden? I'm trying to live my life less online, so I see people bashing her, and I'd like a better picture of why. I only know the name, I don't know much about her and google searches are hit or miss on this for me so far.

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
She's also a union buster who is abusive to her staff: she has allegedly punched an employee and outed a sexual harassment whistleblower, apparently multiple times, in a meeting about the harassment.
Much of the left are probably mad primarily because she was shitty to Bernie and his supporters online, though, tbh.
Some people are saying she will be difficult to confirm because of her past comments about Republican senators on Twitter. I couldn't speak to that, really. Count me as skeptical that that matters, I guess.
Neera Tanden is a bizarre pick considering she's just incredibly online. You could pick one of probably 30 people who have nearly the same skills and politics, which no one has ever heard of, that would do the job just as well without being contentious as hell.

I'm guessing that 300/week is on top of current Unemployment Insurance and if that's the case, I suppose it's ok. The 600/week additional UI was the best policy passed in congress since Medicare & Social Security.
I feel like a smaller total, more targeted stimulus is the move. not everyone needs it, drop the price tag so the ghouls can feel like they got a win, try to find a way to not give it to people more in need
also sort of think not doing it before Christmas is a good thing, so much of it would be wasted on needless bullshit

The economy is powered by us buying needless bullshit, so maybe it's good for the money to come before Christmas. I see your point, but at the same time, the way I see things, consumption, and buying things aren't necessarily a bad thing. I bought a new set of headphones, which rule and I didn't need, but I'm happy I bought them. I wish people across income levels could get themselves a pair of new headphones.

Yeah, to say spending like this is unimportant is a bit reductive imo. Yes, we should be at a place where this many people shouldn’t need a government check to pay for necessities, but it is a reality. Purchasing things keeps money circulating and will aid in the economic recovery.
Supposedly the DOJ is investigating some kind of bribery for pardon scheme. Not sure who is involved. I also saw a headline on Google News that said Suck Hamburg suggested Trump do a sweeping pardon for him and everyone in his family to ‘stop endless investigations.’ Yeah. That’s why.
Random thought: there's probably a correlation between people who 7-10 years ago screamed from the mountains about chemtrails and Agenda 21 and those who now refuse to wear masks cause freedom.

I also think the “compliance” thing directly conflicts with the living in fear argument. Like they’re more scared of a hypothetical government intervention than a real threat lol

normally I'd agree but far less people are spreading that money around, big online retailers are racking it up, which is why I'd rather it be really targeted to who needs it vs just everyone.
would also think that waiting until things can really open and then dropping a stimulus is an option worth considering. I know a handful of people who spent their first one on a flight and just idk things like that feel like it's just running in place.
Some of us are barely making it and a little money right now would be a huge deal. Delaying until after Christmas or next year could be the nail in the coffin for some.
Idk about others, but I haven't worked since March. I'm lucky that I had savings and have a skill to make a little side hustle to scrap by. It's very shitty to hear that some people think that others should suffer longer so people don't spend it way you don't think that is acceptable.
lol I was suggesting people like me (and many others) who are fortunate enough to not need it take the sacrifice so the republican ghouls pass a smaller total bill.
idk that the dem establishment would think of it that way, or push it that way, because they want to get a big win.
