Given that the Mafia generally wants the first round whack to serve a dual purpose (getting the Inspector and misleading the town), it's possible that seeing Dan as Mafia is a misdirect. That being said, there's really not much else Potent said that points at anyone in particular, so if Dan is a misdirect then the Mafia didn't have a clue who the Inspector was, and the Mafia probably didn't have much heat on them this game. What's more interesting to me right now though is that people are focusing on Dan voters. If we're thinking Dan might be Mafia, it would be typical strategy to look at the Jortles voters. While I understand voting for Dan voters given Potent's statements, it still strikes me as a bit odd.
I like pretty much all the votes that have been cast so far. I think there's enough pointing at Dan to warrant my vote though. If it's a misdirect, I think we can live with that. We gotta cast our chips somewhere, after all.
Also Agar, although I am usually quiet on Day 1, usually it's intentional and I'm still paying attention and making my own mental notes in the background. This time though I was genuinely in idgaf mode regarding Mafia and felt compelled to apologize.
This seems to be the point of the game where the mafia is sitting back and hoping that somebody moves off of Dan. Anecdotal, but I know a lot of times when I'm mafia that's the goal. That makes me reticent to switch, and that doesn't have anything to do with Dan being mafia.
I keep coming back to this post. I think he could be hinting that he is inspector in it and if that's the case maybe he has a name of a Dan voter, or that Dan himself is mafia.
Could you elaborate on the dan voter part? Maybe I'm missing something in the context of the game but isn't his main point here that mafia is wanting a Dan voter(presumably a townie in this situation) to move.
I'm more interested in Jortles voters than Dan voters right now.
It's self-serving but I would think the Jortles/Kanye voters is what Potent would be hinting at as well. BTW,It doesn't prove Dan's role either way. IF Potent was inspector he could have seen his name sitting on Jortles/Kanye. Or maybe the mafia just thought that's what he was hinting at.
We could all just be totally off base on this one post as well.
This was the talley before Potent's post. There not an official ref one at that time because there was a vote change between it and Potent's post.

And to correct the above: It's not "self-serving" as I originally said. When I started the post I was thinking of the final tally. Just didn't edit that out when I looked back and saw it was a 3-way when Potent made that comment.
Still trying to get my head in this game. It's been kinda boring and I've been focused on the debates and crap in my free time.

Anyway, if Potent is hinting that mafia were waiting for someone to move off of Dan it stands to reason mafia is voting elsewhere, correct?
I interpreted it as the Mafia was waiting for someone else to move off Dan so that way they wouldn't have to.
Ahhh, okay. Yeah, I mean that's 100% a possibility and something I've done as mafia. The problem for us is we don't know what Potent is speculating vs what he knew as potential inspector. So I'm not sure how this works as a leading clue to go off of. Going by his words it doesn't seem to be pointing to Dan because he twice says it doesn't mean Dan is mafia.
At the same time, he chooses to point out Dan and not Jortles... who was in the same situation at the time.

I guess maybe seeing if they'll stay on Dan or move off.

I still feel like an inspector potent wouldn't go out of his way to say he wasn't trying to implicate Dan if he, in fact, had Dan's name. So I hope we aren't wasting a space in the runoff there. Plus, Dan just got out of one. Todd makes more sense for the runoff here so I can see that.
At the moment Agarr is the only vote I can make that both adds another person to the runoff AND was not a Dan voter. I don't know, I think that's the most strait forward way to read the whack. That Potent had a name sitting on their Kanye/Jort vote. A little hard to know for sure
And from a mafia perspective..... let's say Potent wasn't inspector but they thought he was. I think they would see it as him pointing to the Kanye/Jort voters. Because even if Dan is mafia, Potent's phrasing indicates he has someone else's name who might be interested in moving the runoff away from Dan just based on whatever info he has. Which explains him twice saying he's not necessarily talking about Dan's role.

Well shit. I guess I need to refresh before I post. I was looking back over the pages and didn't think about people voting. I'm still more comfortable with a Agarr vote than a Pablo one.

Being that this is my first time playing this game, my initial thought was to vote for Dan. Makes sense because of the Potent whack. Then I got to thinking about how many times some of you have played this game. It probably makes sense in the long run for Mafia to misdirect in the first round. Won't do them much good in the short term, but having everyone else hunting down the wrong path could help pay off in the long run. Idk, I really have no clue what I'm talking about because this is all new to me. Also sorry I haven't been able to contribute more to this, I'm entering the busiest time at work right now. I will try to keep up more frequently.

The inspector is the townie that is most dangerous to mafia. It is in their best interest to kill them asap. Misdirection gets blown up by inspector reveals. I disagree with your point but I'm glad you are thinking things over now.
One piece of advice that was given to me my first game was to remember that this is a team game - you just might not necessarily know who else is on your team. If you are a vanilla townie, you should have a healthy dose of suspicion of everyone, but also to keep in mind that there are seven other people on your team who are also scrambling their way through the dark. Stay open. It's not an every man for themselves game.
I'm only saying this because your vote appears retaliatory, and you gave no explanation. Why the vote for Pablo?

What is the reason for the vote on me?
Not really too much of a reason to vote for you, other than wanting to tie things up, and not vote for who it seems like Mafia wants us to vote for (which would be Dan).
I’m not locked on my vote but I want to see where everyone’s head is at before considering a switch.
This isn't going to happen is it...

lol I'm actually writting a response to this at this very moment. Was just looking over Agarr's posts. I don't really have anything important to add... i don't feel.
