They're on tour next summer, playing Asheville NC on 6/12 and no other dates around it...
Would be a very plausible headliner or subheadliner. And they're fantastic on this tour. I think there's a very decent chance we see them on the farm in 2020

Sunday What pre-HL is ideal for me. I saw Avetts for a bit this year and just kept thinking the whole time "wow I really wish Vampire Weekend was playing instead right now".

After seeing them at couple weeks ago at msg I think I prefer them to headline over pre-headlining. The show was really everything you could ask for: it was long, engaging the whole time, a bit of jam, and covered their whole catalogue. A 75 or 90 minute pre-headlining set feels like getting short changed after this tour.

We all feel this way at some point. It's only natural.
Are there any you’d instantly buy tix to? Any you’d avoid? What would you rank these?
Ranked by preference:
Lady Gaga/ DMB/ Tame/ VW Tyler, The Creator/ Hall & Oates/ Rufus Du Sol
^^^probably an instant purchase for Gaga, VW, Tyler, Tame, Hall & Oates. don't care about dave if he's sunday i can leave early.
Neil/ Travis/ Lana/ VW Flume/ Cage the Elephant/ A$AP Rocky
^^^not an instant purchase, but a purchase nonetheless b/c Neil and VW. edit: and travis
Drake/ The Cure/ Chris Stapleton/ VW MMJ/ Lil Wayne/ Janelle Monaé
^^^would have to think of it for a while because I've seen The Cure a couple of times, but VW and an interest in seeing Drake might get be there eventually. a strong undercard would help my decision.
Justin/ Foo Fighters/ VW/ Anderson .Paak Halsey/ Wilco/ Underworld
^^^a painful purchase because I'd really want to see Wilco and Underworld but wouldn't have a strong reason to see a headliner besides VW. Justin and Foos would be fun though.
Bruce/ Mumford/ Billie/ VW Martin Garrix/ Lizzo/ New Order
^^^The only artist in the top three that really interests me is Billie, but it's just a mild interest at this point, i think her music is neat and she is cool. Bruce would be fun. New Order is one of my few bucket list acts remaining, and a top five band of all time for me, I'm just less thrilled with the idea of seeing them live with every year that passes for some reason.
^^^Rihanna would be fun but not my top pick for a big name artist, Tool is great but I've seen them a bunch, Panic I've seen a bunch that would be fine. Sufjan would be great of course.
I see you walaka, you always do that thing where you throw the rare underworld/new order/sufjan booking under a less than exciting top line.
I actually wouldn't be at all surprised if they did this. VW has been playing for about 2.5 hours on their recent tour. They're really tight. They sound amazing with the new band members. Like Bon Iver, they have enough indie superfans who would really want to see more than an hour-long set. 2 sets VW at the #4 or #5 spot would make sense. FOTB didn't produce heavy-hitting singles that would've been needed to expand their reach substantially, even though their already bought-in fanbase was definitely galvanized by the album. Bon Iver 2 sets was #7 in 2017. I don't think VW is much bigger now, especially since they took a 5-year break. I do think VW as the #3 headliner would be a very AC thing to do, but I just don't see it. I could definitely see them at #5 with Lana at #4, or #4 with Lana at #3.
Edit: Grammar
Edit: If they do 2 sets, I expect to hear A-Punk at least 4 times.
There are rumors that they’ll be doing 10th anniversary of contra shows next year, so a regular set then Vampire weekend playing contra in full LN would be awesome

The 2014 Sunset show was a fun time. I'm thinking they get the Friday night Gambino slot of this year. 8:45 - 10. Slightlty better than the 7:30-8:45 slot in 14.
Edit: 6/12 Ashville Date. Looks like they are Saturday or Sunday then.
